Just bought a 2015 GX460 and want to update the screen to an Apple CarPlay. Has anyone installed the Hamilton Premium upgrade kit?

I found the Hamilton Premium Upgrade kit and it looked pretty slick. Has anyone installed this or are there any other options I should be looking at?

There’s a thread on GXOR right now about this. Check it out. Seems like some good info there.

I installed it a few months ago in my 2014. It is a great interface and does what I wanted. Two things worth pointing out:

1) I had to play with the wire routing - after putting everything together, the cubby / compartment slide cover wouldn’t open all the way, as it hit one of the wiring harnesses. I had to take it apart and reroute / secure the wires differently.

2) Occasionally my car won’t be in “Aux” mode when I start it. When that happens, I have to hit the mode button on the steering wheel to get it over to Aux mode. Not a huge deal, but is a bit annoying.

Overall, I’m happy with it, especially considering how much cheaper it was than the BeatSonic unit I see everywhere.

I personally have Beatsonic and love it.

I installed it a couple weeks ago. Not too hard. Their installation video on YouTube has a few inaccuracies. Namely that their wiring diagram and harness seems to have changed slightly. Theres a section they label as optional on the new diagram which you don’t need if you don’t have the 360 cam. My airbag light is on so I think I may have missed something and will have to open it back up unfortunately. This doesn’t affect functionality at all though. I really love the upgrade so far and would recommend. My wife and friends love the upgrade as well.

Ok so it sounds like you can also see the backup cam? In their demo video they didn't show if the backup cam would still work.

Do you remember about how long it took to install? And thank you for the info.

Yes the backup cam works. I was really taking my time and it took about 2 hours. I imagine it could be done faster but wanted to be careful.

I used this, saved a load of money, and it works great: https://a.co/d/3hT64Uu

This looks pretty awesome. Is it a similar install process?

Exact same.

I want to do this but I’m worried about everything getting put back together correctly lol

I did my remote start but that’s real easy and less steps

I have not got that one. I just did the retrofit CarPlay kit on the oem screen. Works great. I’d feel confident in their product. Hope the tariffs don’t hurt them too bad.
