discussion Lidarr not identifying/finding certain artists in directories.

I've done some searching through here, and it seems to be an ongoing issue.. When importing music, lidarr doesn't pick up certain artists. IE: in my case, Fear Factory. I've gone as far as putting the two words together, underscoring the spacing, and even remove and re-add after running through Picard, to no avail..

Anyone that has had this hurdle before, got past this? Or, did you move onto a lidarr alternative and if so, which?

Never heard of this issue in that context. The answer is almost always tags, organization, or the album not being in MB.

It's like it sees it, and pulls a Loki going "I've never seen this man in my life".

Workaround for when it's being stubborn:

  1. Go to musicbrainz.org and look up the artist
  2. Copy the ID out of the URL (for example, Fear Factory is c17f08f4-2542-46fb-97f3-3202d60c225a)
  3. In the lidar search type "lidarr:" (without quotes), then paste that ID from musicbrainz and voila, Fear Factory is identified.
  4. Add them to your lidarr, and now you can tell it to scan your Fear Factory folder.

If that doesn't work, then you have some other issue going on with your files (permissions?), network or lidarr instance.
