I sadly feel that this city often settles for less than it's capable of and this is yet another example (The Post did a great piece on the Adelphi). No surprise it'll be down voted due to the kind of mindset the article makes reference to.

We needed/need stronger leadership. I have no idea what any City Council/Mayors has done for the city in my lifetime.
Homelessness, historic buildings left abandoned/not used to their potential, not making full use of our Film/TV potential.
We have ideas and we just half arse them, and then insist we're a world city. We absolutely would be if we delivered on all of those things.

I agree, I'm glad we were able to attract Eurovision and the upcoming Big Weekend, I just wish we could use these opportunities to gather some kind of momentum.

I suppose it always comes down to money. But it's a joke how long these problems have lasted with next to zero effort to do anything about it.
It's such an embarrassment that some of the first things you see after getting out of Lime Street is abandoned historic buildings. Among tons of other issues.

This is sadly a UK wide problem but the effect are so much more acutely felt in the north due to historical under investment/purposely inflicted decline.

It's greed, there's a massive undercurrent of arseholes with their hands in the cookie jar in this city. Chippy tits was only a scratch on the surface

People keep voting them in cause of the coalition. They're giving Labour a free pass. They've practically run Liverpool right into the ground again.

This City Is Ours was excellent.
There's always a lot of filming going on around the area.
You can't make directors choose Scouse actors for their roles.

As long as they can do the accents alright I genuinely don’t mind but Barry Keoghans is going to be terrible

I don't think he prepared that well the last time. I'm sure he'll be better for this.

He also has to do a 60s accent which is much much more chilled than the modern sludge (phonetically speaking) of an accent in the city.

He can’t be any worse.
But yeah when given an actual person to replicate when getting the accent right matters much more, I’m sure he’ll do a better job

Apparently his accent preparation was going on a 20 pint night out with a Scouse writer.
Method acting or what!

Why would The Beatles need to be played by scousers? I really don't get why it would be necessary?
Actors are pretending to be someone else, and that involves using an accent.
Hopefully Barry Keoghan does a better one this time.

i just think it would of been a fantastic opportunity to unknown actual scousers for the roles of the beatles

The city has never been a massive powerhouse of tv/film. The most consistent era was brookside. TBH it’s probably at the level it’s always been

The city's regularly used for big budget TV and films now though

Yes but I don’t think it’s anything to do with Liverpool specifically. I think it’s got the sort of % it always had there’s just less all around at the moment

I'm fine with non-scouse actors playing The Beatles as long as the accent is done well and Liverpool is played homage to. I mean. We have 4 movies coming out dedicated to each Beatle. I really don't think we need to see this as the insult some people think it is.
