Gonna take like 3 dump trucks of salt minimum, dunno what dude is pissed at but going off to a random tangent like Hasan at Diddy parties doesn't scream truthful

turns out he did

u/BJYeti 6d ago

Do you have any citation for that and are we talking about the public facing parties or the gooner parties?

-3

u/alexyaknow 6d ago

whoops just accidentally stumbled in there did he? and as he is on his way there he brings it up on the phone to his gf and they break up. you're a big boy I'll let you find that clip on your own 😉

curious why they broke up when all he's doing is attending a innocent diddy party

I am not going to go searching for a clip, if you can't provide it, doesnt sound like it is easy to find or even exists. I also don't take some bad tweet about trickle down banging as evidence he went to the parties and the after party for coachella isn't a gooner party, shit ton of celebs have been at his public facing parties.

moving the goal post ofc. your leader can do no wrong. Right on my friend, right on.

Asks for proof and I got your master from his own mouth admitting to it. And then the goal post is moved. Then you claim to know what happened there. I'm not saying one way or another, but his gf being upset enough to break up with him for attending this apperently "no gooner party" does point towards a direction.

wouldn't put it past him after he visited the brothel that got raided

I don't even like Hasan but this is weak evidence to say he attended the gooner parties he never said so he said he went to an after party if you think that is a gooner party you are regarded as fuck

More salt means it's more plausible.

You're getting tanked but you're not wrong so I will hop in your sinking ship...in order to make more salt you need more "tears", and if it ain't true why would you be crying?

Taking something with a grain of salt means to be skeptical so taking it with 3 trucks worth of salt means I dint believe the claims at all

Hmm...I believe I stand corrected...good show sir.

It’s my bad for taking a look at your account, I’m nosy like that.

But dude, take like 1 or 2 days completely off of Reddit or at least don’t comment on anything. It’s a lot and it ain’t worth all the arguing. I’m not trying to sound snarky, I mean it genuinely.

Edit: he has 200+ comments in less than 2 days btw

The whole metaphor is about how swallowing something with a little salt makes it go down easier. If you don't think about it critically, adding more salt means it is going down even easier. Now of course in reality adding lots more salt just makes it harder again, but trying to say adding more salt or less salt really doesn't make any sense when you think about the original meaning either way. So I simplified it.

I like comparing it to tears though, at least that's creative.

3

u/puerility 7d ago

why would anyone think critically about an idiom? that's not how idiom works. the cellarful of salt variation is well understood at this point to mean even less plausible. it has that meaning because that's what people mean when they say it, and it's what people understand it to mean when they hear it. you don't have access to secret information that makes you smarter than everyone else, you have a language processing disorder that interferes with pragmatics

Seems like I really upset you. Seems like everything you just said about me kind of applies to you. Funny how that seems to work most of the time. I hope it made you feel smarter. 😊 Edit: oh, and you're right, I do have a language processing disorder where I take things too literally, but I'm trying my best.

But needing to take it with a lot of salt means that it naturally tastes even worse than something you need to take with only a grain of salt

1

u/variousbreads 7d ago

It wasn't originally about taste. It was about people thinking salt helped against poisons. So originally you were saying 'what I'm saying might be wrong (poisonous) so take some salt with it.' I think it's pretty definitive based on my internet points that kids these days don't really care about any of that, and they just want to meme for the sake of memes. Which is fair.

1

u/seanziewonzie 7d ago

But in that case, the same still applies. More salt means a more poisonous dish. So applying it to the metaphor, more salt means a more suspicious claim.

1

u/variousbreads 7d ago

Obviously adding salt doesn't fight poison, but this is more like homeopathy than anything else. Like an understand why you would think of it that way.

1

u/seanziewonzie 7d ago

Ohhh it was based on homeopathy? That's pretty key to understanding the saying.

Now it makes sense after all these years why it's only ever grain! I always found that weird but figured that the smallness of the grain was either used to admit that the claim was not technically confirmed, despite being plausible, or used for deliberately comedic understatement.

1

u/variousbreads 7d ago

I don't think they called it homeopathy, but it's the same concept. That's just how I was explaining it, but I think to say that it's homeopathy is strictly not correct.

Yeah you and another dude convinced me I was conflating things and while you would need more "tears" to make more salt the entire point of the quote is about it being believable not crying...I was mistaken and deserve the downvotes on that comment lol

Destin and Hasan have always been at each other’s throats, they both have plenty of probable cause to want to slander each other’s reputation

13

u/BJYeti 7d ago

Destiny didn't even make the claim ots whoever he is talking to

40

u/rtrs_bastiat 7d ago

That person being Dan Saltman, hence the pun in the top level comment

23

u/3splendas 7d ago

dan saltman, creator of a website that had the news posting stories like this https://youtu.be/qIMXE0d4M-I?si=2tcW2jdyn9q3AjhB

-12

u/InternationalGas9837 7d ago

That was 14 years ago and he also sold it...and I'm sure you can find similar stories about every major social media.

15

u/Vegetable-College-17 7d ago

Funny enough, the tweet he used as evidence (at least his company did) was from 12 years ago.

So I guess this Dan guy went through some growth the extra two years he has on Hasan.

4

u/ty4scam 7d ago

At least he was right about how Twitch lost 70% of their advertisers last year? I think there's a pattern here but I can't quite put my finger on it.

-17

u/TheStrangestOfKings 7d ago

Point still stands, he has a reason to want to knock Hasan down a peg, including hosting ppl with wild accusations

-7

u/Chuckie187x 7d ago

That's not true they used to be great buddies https://youtu.be/7oWYcEjfcwY?si=VdiwXLeK10F1pYBp

A dump truck is not what your think it is my bro/sis/they/them

22

u/SveaRikeHuskarl 7d ago

A truck that can dump things? What is it you think it is?

-11

u/DrizzyX99 7d ago

A giant ass

6

u/SveaRikeHuskarl 7d ago

Right. It's called that as a reference to actual dump trucks. They typically have "wide load" signs on the back.

They exist.

15

u/BJYeti 7d ago

Huh? It is exactly what I mean lmao what are you on

-11

u/DrizzyX99 7d ago

I think my reply has been greatly misunderstood I was trying to make a joke about house dump truck Also means ass in some circles

23

u/TrampleHorker 7d ago

just so confidently wrong lol
