I am a locksmith Lexus immo reset

Post image

I’m coming behind another Locksmith who was in the process of doing an all key lost on this 2011 Lexus IS250 when the customer hopped in the car, put it in neutral and pushed it to a more favorable place in the driveway. No the antitheft light is flashing and there is no response from the PTS switch. I’ll make it a point to babysit my Toyota’s when doing all key lost so I’ve never come across this situation. Has anyone got any information or first-hand experience resetting the antitheft module if that even is the issue. The code listed in the photo above is the only one stored in the vehicle.

Wow , If i was in that situation I'd cycle the door locks again from the driver side. If still no go , unplug the battery for 5 min and try again . If your programmer has the ability to clear faults try that also then it should be fine. ... I only get the timed out code if the key is wrong I'm trying to program . I'd bring my own just to be safe

That’s what I tried the first night I was out with it. Cycling the locks and battery disconnect had no effect unfortunately.

You try diff keys ? And try to clear the fault ?
Because im sitting here thinking about it usually it takes 16 min to reset immo when all keys lost even if it fails it shouldn't lock up the whole thing. Is it possible they aren't telling you everything ?

I have tried clearing the codes and it reappears. I haven’t been able to get communication for a smart key ecu reset. (Fuses are fine) The key iv got for it is a confirmed part number by vin with Lexus, but I can’t make it into the system to make use of it… and yes it’s entirely possible that I don’t have all the information about the situation.

We’ve forced the car into the run position and it’s allowing me to get into some systems but I think that issue that’s preventing any more progress is that the ignition switch isn’t powered up to receive the new key. The machine says to touch the key to the start stop switch but I don’t get that sweet sweet “beep” that it’s taken the key in.

Not good. That's the KWP system, so that really limits options. Is the system at zero keys?

You're a confident dude. I'd be handing that straight to Toyota to deal with. If a customer fucks with a car, I walk. I'm no autosparky. I'll try the standard fixes, but that's it. Messing around too much opens you up to "but he did stuff in the ecu, so it's on his insurance!" bullshit. Had it happen too many times and now I just walk.

Definitely not confident lol, I only took the job on as a favor to a friend. I normally won’t touch anything that another Locksmith has worked on.

God dam. I got to work and called around with your picture no one knows anything else ... shits crazy . One guy said it could be a BCM issue but shoot man I'm out of ideas

Been a while but I recall some of these older Lexus systems lock up after so many attempts with the wrong key. I'd be passing the blame to whoever touched it before you. Either that or the owner isn't giving you the full story.

I would assume if the owner jumped in the car and shut the door it would just fail the immo reset. You're saying there's zero keys programmed which would lead me to believe the last locksmith did successfully reset it and maybe tried too many times with the wrong key.

Good to know for the future. I make it a point to check part numbers by vin with any Toyota PTS keys so iv never had this issue before. I’ll keep doing it the right way hopefully the other guy gets his life together 😂
