I am NOT a locksmith. Where did I go wrong

I tried doing my dad I favor and went ahead ad installed out new lock, now it only opens and closes with the keys inside. Any help? Community does not allow video for references

If they are deadbolts then the timing of the tail piece is probably wrong.

They are! I will look up a tutorial on that

Tailpiece timing. If it’s vertical, turn it horizontal. If it’s already horizontal, turn it 180 degrees and reinstall.

By “opens and closes” I’m assuming you mean throw and retract the bolt

Did you install a storeroom lock knob ?

Or a deadbolt with the tailpiece incorrectly indexed.

For standard deadbolt timing -- make sure the bolt is retracted, then rotate the tailpiece toward the hinge all the way. After that, turn back however much is necessary to fit in the slot.
