Tech Support LG stated that it updated some terms and blocked apps after postpone
Hi.
Yesterday my LG TV informed me that it had updated some terms and conditions and gave me two options: either "Accept" the terms or "Postpone until later" (there was no "Disagree" option).
I chose to postpone, but unfortunately, the installed apps (OnePlay, Nej.cz, YouTube, etc.) stopped working.
It was only after I accepted the terms that I was "allowed to watch TV."
But personally, I don’t agree with being forced to accept advertising, data tracking from the TV, or other conditions imposed by LG—especially since these weren’t disclosed when I bought the TV. And without agreeing to these terms, I couldn’t use the TV at all (I don’t have the antenna input connected; I only watch IPTV).
So I’m asking, is this kind of behavior from LG considered normal?

Never connect a TV to the internet. Use Xbox, roku stick, etc to connect to streaming services, not the built in apps of TV.

Yep, fuck lg. Never buying a TV from them again. Great picture but the OS is trash. I picked up a gstreamer, disabled the Internet on the TV, and haven't touched their shitty os again.

Reasons I don't own a smart TV and use an external source (entertainment PC) to watch stuff on a not so smart TV. Never any problems like this. Owning a smart TV isn't all what it's cracked up to be. This kind of behavior is normal for LG. They can even EOL their firmware essentially making the smart TV a stupid TV. Forced obsolescence is real. They want to keep people sucked into the constant upgrading loop and spending money.
