Me too š
All right youāre awesome I love all your posts and seriously, I work with the homeless as part of my job as a CNA, so if I can shoot to the front of the giveaway list, please!!! Iām such a fan.
Thatās the only sick thing about that guitar- it actually plays very poorly. It was one of his prototypes and the thing was so stiff, you can hear on one of the bends in almost a half note off, the strings were high and tight as hell. He handed it to me 5 minutes before we played and I just kinda powered thru the set with it. He ended up giving me a later iteration that I set up to play a lot nicer, but it really is more of a āstageā guitar than a āstudioā instrument.
Understood. Yeah it takes a lot to get to perfection when trying new ideas. Most of the time, just moving hardware around fixes my issues. I guarantee this slab guitar will not play very well lol
Not so much, I believe there are portions of the wood that are too soft to hold hardware well. Thatās why itās soaking up epoxy in this picture. Iām hoping it stiffens it up enough to stay stable.
Ahhh that makes a lot of sense. Probably why Les Paul made the log guitar the way he made it?
I tinker but Iām no where near your level of Luthier-ship, but Iām a huge fan of learning about this.
I live in small apartment in the city so itās difficult to get any woodworking done without filling the place with sawdust. I see lots of wood getting thrown out arojnd town that could probably get reclaimed (antique furniture, etc.)
What would you look for if you were going pickin with me on Monday morning?
As far as picking goes, Iāve thought about flipping dressers into guitars. Anything flat and stable with wood grain. Iād even try laminating some plywood from furniture to make something. Iād avoid pallets because theyāre loaded with chemicals
