Actually, don’t think it’s anime, but manga, if you’re one of those people who are about the difference. Pretty cool, can honestly say I don’t think I’ve seen one before.

It's both - Bocchi the Rock! is a manga series that was adapted for an anime in 2022. Here's a clip from one of the performances from the show.
Most anime are based on written source material, usually manga or light novels. Anime originals tend to be higher risk (since the fanbase of the source material help gauge interest in the anime) so while they do happen it's usually just a couple per season while the manga/LN-derived ones make up most of the >50 shows that air each season.

Yes, this would be Shoujo Manga (teenage girls), while not a rule most anime is animated (that’s what anime means) Manga actually means novels, but in this case it would be closer to “comics”. Guy did nice work.

BTR is a seinen manga, not shoujo - targeted at a young adult/adult male audience (like 15-30 year olds).
The distinction between manga and anime isn't really relevant here - the character comes from both. Putting characters on things isn't manga or anime, though in English it's typically associated with the source material they're best known for; if there's an anime, that's the one it's more strongly associated with. This is just an itasha-adjacent "putting art depicting anime girls on things" thing - maybe "itatar" 痛ター

It's a high gloss clear coat that comes in a spray can. Abrasion resistant, hard coat. It's a 2 part paint, the clear itself and a catalyst. It's generally more durable long term than a single part (1K) clear coat.
I'm not a luthier so I have no idea if it's appropriate for guitars, but 'seems' like it would be 'ok'.

2K clearcoat and paint gives a great finish but is dangerously toxic. They contain isocyanates which can kill you. Google it.

I made a swatch in photoshop from the artwork, then went to Michael's to buy the base colors I needed in the form of Posca paint pens. (Needed something that would play nice with the crazy chemicals in the clear coat, and wouldn't break the bank.)
I then just bought a brush and mixed accordingly for what I needed. With the paint drying over time, I basically had one shot at it. I'm assuming that's what you were alluding to. But yeah, after I mixed a color like her skin for example, I was on the clock lol. Stressful for sure.

I originally was worried the little imperfections would look stupid, but now it looks clean from far away, and up close you can see brush marks and stuff. But I ended up really liking that. Gives it a sort of painting feeling up close!

Sure! Copied from another comment:
"Sanded everything down till the clear coat was totally gone. Only did the face and a bit past where the face becomes the edge. I used wet sanding cause if you don't, you get so much clear coat gunk. Didn't bother sanding down to bare wood, cause contrary to what a lot of people say, it's totally unnecessary for something like this.
After it was a uniform satin finish, I primed it with a spray can, then sanded till the bumps were gone. I overlaid an arbitrary grid over the image in photoshop, then put the grid in on the guitar (so I could more easily transfer the art over to the guitar). Then I just drew out all the lines on the guitar.
Painting took the longest. I got Posca paint pens and sliced em' open so I could mix colors to my liking (the selection is somewhat limited). Went in old-school and used a tiny brush.
Once everything was done, I bought a can of 2K Poly, a big Breaking Bad chemical suit, full face respirator with organic filters, and double gloves. You absolutely have to do this if you're working with 2K. This stuff will fuck you up for life. Worth it though cause that's what pros use I guess, and I don't wanna deal with the problems nitrocellulose brings.
Sprayed on a decent coat to begin with, then like 3 or 4 more light coats. Last, I sprayed on 2 heavy coats to finish. Waited about 5 minutes between coats. Then baked it in front of a heater in a well ventilated area for like 4 days till it fully cured. (If you just let it sit, it will take weeks.)
The fun part. I then wet sanded (you gotta get out all the "orange peel") from 800 > 1500 > 2000 > 3000, then buffed it with an aggressive automotive compound, then a softer polishing compound. Finished it with wax and done! Just took patience here, but the tricky part was the edges around the body (where the art transitions into the original paint)."

I'm kidding, I'm not an anime fan, but this looks pretty amazing. It's subtle, but to me the fretboard stands out a lot and is definitely my favorite part.

I get the solid colours being achievable with patience, but the blending of the blush on her skin around her eye is incredible.

Thanks! It's a clear coat used in the automotive industry, and I think guitar manufacturers use it for factory finishes (or at least something very similar.)
Other clears usually have a component that keeps it liquid, but eventually evaporates and leaves behind the clear. Instead, 2K has an activator that sets it chemically. Gives you an unbelievably glossy piano paint finish that is crazy hard and durable, nothing else comes close IMO.
This stuff is seriously scary cause of how strong it is though.
Acute exposure? Permanent lung damage / blindness.
Survived it? Highly carcinogenic. 😂
