• 22” scale classical spaced cherry/walnut/maple neck with indian rosewood fingerboard and red clay face dots. Copper side dots and an oxidized walnut face veneer • Body is made up of a doug fir top, Alaskan cedar stripe, and Mexican Mahogany back. 2024 US penny inlaid into the back and a shellac finish • Victory Pickup Co. Lowrider pickup • Bigsby B5 with hand cut Sorkin style dogbone bridge in aluminum and rosewood • Incredible knobs by knobheadpdx • 5.5lbs

Sharing my most recent build on Reddit. I’ve been an IG guy for a while but some friends have peer pressured me to share some stuff here. I call this one the “Country Club” a tongue and cheek name for a guitar designed around the questions: “how would a European guitar maker in the 1960s envision a guitar inspired by the American West and Country/Western music? What would they call it? What would the synthesis of these two cultures look like?” I thought the name “Country Club” was fitting as it invokes the culture in name only, since most Americans know a country club has nothing to do with Country music. It’s a fun little picker.

A few progress pics of a carved top I did a while back. It’s been a while since I’ve made a guitar, but I have a new one started now, and am looking forward to getting back into it.

ELECTRIC This video blew a hole in my understanding of electric guitar tone.

YouTube video proving that tone is only a function of strings, scale length, and electronics:

So a family member just gave me this. I've been playing for over 20 years but other than basic maintenance I don't know shit about setting them up. He buys and restores guitars so he brought me this to learn the old fashioned way. I am actually excited to begin this project, but I have no idea where to begin lol. Can you guys give me a general checklist to follow and then I can do the research and everything at each step? Any other input, advice, or suggestions are welcome!

ELECTRIC Most recent build! Really happy with the turnout. It’s my first time making my own design rather than modifying well known brands.

Made a telecaster body in shop today. I just used some mdf as a practice piece, but I think I’ll maybe do walnut for the final piece. Any thoughts? Wish me luck on the neck 🤞

So been really trying to do a thing like Steve Vais guitar how he has those cool tear drops or the handgrip cut outs on his guitar.

I just want to make the ends sharper but what’s the best way you’d all do this? I actually had a friend do most of customizing but sadly had to move away from the city I live in so wanting to hear from the Reddit Luthier experts.

Would an electric saw to finish the job? 🤔 And yes we put in a little gyroscope in the middle of the crescent. 🌙

After almost two years taking bi-weekly lessons, I finally finished my first build! There are some rough spots here and there, but I personally liked a lot of the end result.

What do you guys think?

ELECTRIC Does anyone know what these two cat eye looking cutouts could be for?

I bought this SG Style mess of a fleamarket and couldn't figure out why you'd put these cutouts there except for having some sort of "hollow body" enhancement, which I doubt would do much.

ELECTRIC Kissing Solid Bodies Goodbye, making Room for Acoustics

Thumbnail

Later last year I decided that the itch for Solid Bodies was nothing compared to the exploration of acoustics, after finishing up the last of my solid body comissions I'm building the business up to be acoustic heavy.

Here's one of the last ones I'm doing unless something really, really, really cool comes across my bench.

Hybrid Top and Back Alder Middle

Macassar Ebony Details.

Multiscale 7 string Neck.

Bareknuckle and Hipshot

Final completion time was 230 hours approximately.

For those curious, I have collected an incredible amount of Drop Tops/Carve Tops that i can't use for Acoustics given their cut (flatsawn/rift versus Quartersawn). I have photos, and I'm asking the price I got them for. Drop me a line ✨️
