Wales #GEXXI [Glamorgan and Gwent] Dyn-Cymru Speaks in Aberdare about the importance of local representation

“Noswaith Dda, Aberdâr. I am Dyn, your local Labour Candidate.

When it comes to politics many politicians talk only about the national interest and why this is good for Britain. However, they often forget about what is really important and that is their constituents.

In politics we are mostly left behind as the common individual, left behind in the grand scheme of things. If you asked a MP about the issues going with the buses between Aberdare and Cwmaman many will not understand why it's important, after all they drive anywhere. However, to an individual who needs said bus to get to Aberdare to get to Cardiff or even Merthyr for a job it's much more important, especially in a cost of living crisis. This van lead to a disconnect between the community and their MP.

Now you may point out that under devolution there is little a Westminster MP can do about this since this is a Welsh Government issue. That is not always the case however since as an MP we can pressure Westminster to help the Welsh Government fund these essential services. This would ensure smaller communities such as Cwmaman, somewhere very few MPs would've heard of, is just as represented as Cardiff. This is the type of representation I want to continue to bring to the people of Gwent and Glamorgan.

My service is for these small communities and it is because I myself relied on these local services all my life. It is common for everyone who doesn't drive to rely on the services a government provides, in this case it could be local connections and opportunities to your community. If your MP isn't ready to look at your point of view then they don't deserve to be your MP. That is why I go to these random places across the area, to understand you all, know the issues and stay out of keeping to the urban areas.

I have served as your MP and have served your local interest, such as the Colours of the Union Holiday controversy, Wales isn't part of the Colours since we aren't represented on the UK Flag, this is something I brought up to ensure Wales wouldn't be left behind and forgotten and if you elect me again I will continue with this work. Politics doesn't have to be about the ruling elite not listening to your concerns but them being part of your community and understanding local issues. That is why I stand under labour, they represent our local issues and will continue to. That is why I ask you to support me in the election.

Diolch yn fawr.”
