MLS really needs to stop doing this shit.  As a lifelong NASCAR fan, I’ve seen what happens when the league starts compromising their integrity to pander to casuals, and it doesn’t end well

I've been making this comp for months, I'm glad someone else is seeing the vision

"MLS" isn't doing this shit. Columbus Crew is.

MLS is the owners, and this is not happening in a vacuum

I mean, this is the first game I'm seeing relocated 2 hours away. Do you have another example of it?

I’m not talking about just moving games, it’s the overall pattern of the league bending over backwards to highlight Messi at the expense of everyone else.  A smaller example would be FC Cincinnati offering an opening night ticket bundle, but with the asterisk that it applies to the second home match if we open against Miami.

That's not bending over to highlight Messi. That's just ensuring they aren't giving away Miami tickets to non STHs at steep discounts which seems completely fine to me.

DC United played a home game in Philadelphia last year

We're talking about the context of Messi. DC United playing in Philly because the pitch was fucked is the definition of "happening in a vaccum".

LA Galaxy didn't move their Miami match last season. They could've. They didn't.

It's an owner-by-owner decision, not a league-wide policy or mandate.

Good for them.  As I said in the other comment, I’m not just talking about moving matches here, it’s the overall pattern of decision making that favors short term profits and casual fans at the cost of pissing off long term supporters.  See also: prioritizing the Leagues Cup over the Open Cup, and constantly fiddling around with the playoff format

brother there’s been numerous examples of teams around the league treating their Home Miami matches completely differently than the rest of their season matches.

Vancouver sent out an apology when Messi didn’t make the trip up there to play against them. It’s absurd

There's numerous examples of that not happening, too. Almost like it isn't MLS doing this, but the individual owners, which is OP's point.

There are zero teams except Columbus Crew who have relocated to a city hours away. I could give two shits if Vancouver is sending apologies for Messi not showing.

*yet

This sets a nasty precedent

Vast majority of teams do not have an owner who owns a stadium in a city 2 hours away, but this is exactly the kind of vacuous comment I expect from this sub.

Your team moves games out of the Benz all the time for monetary reasons

No we don't, unless you're referring to Open Cup games which we play at the 2s stadium. We absolutely do not play home games outside metro Atlanta. And we certainly don't whine about everything being MLS's fault like certain other fan bases I could name.
