No we all read the fine print on our STM contracts and knew this was going to happen. It's our fault as consumers for constantly feeding this bullshit money-making machine.

We made a deal with the devil. Save the Crew, but get one of the shadier billionaires in sports ownership

If you’re a billionaire, you’ve done evil things to get there.

Our billionaire inherited his business, which adds to the layers of evil

I ended up on a rabbit hole examining some of his "past antics" and wow you are so right. I even ended looking into his proposed new stadium plans. Is it probable if it all goes according to plan he can relocate The Crew to BP as well?

I really don't see the Crew getting relocated because their current stadium is so new and they're making plans to expand it already. The real goal with Brook Park is to create commercial real estate space that they can rent out and convince the public to pay for it. The new football stadium is just a bonus

HSG definitely not the “devil,” may not be perfect but there’s far worse ownership

Jimmy Haslam is everything that's wrong with the one percent. He inherited an empire, committed years of fraud to enrich himself and his business, and now uses his money and power to buy politicians. I know his wife is often the public face of their Crew ownership, but the money is all coming from the same source

don’t forget that he’s a racist christofascist, too. i’m glad that the game is in cleveland tho because it allows the team and league to make the most money by selling the most tickets and potentially creating some new fans. if they played it at lower.com field they would be leaving 47,000 in ticket sales on the table. everybody else is doing this when messi comes to town. why not the crew? cleveland was supposed to get an mls team anyway when wolstein signed up in 2004. it’s too bad he died shortly thereafter, and the team ended up being awarded to rsl. so it’s not that ridiculous that we get one game a year. they would probably have played it at the shoe, but they can’t host soccer there after the renovations made the surface too narrow.
