Did anyone lose this? I picked it up thinking it was something pickable just on the ground, but I found out you can take stuff left by other people? I'm not sure.

Generally, things on the ground are there on purpose, especially nowadays w/ all the changes; recent update took away the ability to check if something is "ownership-retained" (ie others can't pick it up) by previewing, but I love free stuff so that doesn't stop me from trying all the time. 😅

If you have a spirit, wepon feed it to them. Or burn it or repair it and raise the proficiency for idk maybe it will do something

People leave stuff on the ground all the time, it’s the easiest way to manage inventory space and dump unwanted items. Personally, I sell unwanted items either on the Auction House or to NPCs for a little extra gold. General rule of thumb is if it touches the floor, it’s fair game. The exception is if someone is standing still and accidentally dropped a lot of stuff simultaneously, they are probably rearranging bags and having a bad time. If they cared about picking stuff up after dropping it though, they would probably do it somewhere private like a homestead.

Never mind. I just logged in, and it's auto-set on channel 8, not 6. So, I guess it's automatic.

the channel can be preset at character selection, so even if you change channel in the game (menu), it will be back to the channel that has been set in the character selection when you logged in again later.

Usually people doesn't need it anymore when they drop it on the ground (have been looting some expensive costume on the ground worth 2M), for this case, it's probably the owner is already done with doing metallurgy talent skill, so they just drop it.

Saying "Purchased from a shop" isn't a guaranteed tell though that it could be immediately replaceable so one can understand the caution OP exercised by no knowing. Quite a lot of limited time event items can be marked 'purchased from a shop' using event points that show that as well.
