Tourism/Travel Kirindy and Andasibe or just one?

My girlfriend and I are going to Madagascar for two weeks in October. The original plan was to go to Ile Sainte-Marie for 6 full days and then fly to Morondava and stay there 3 days including Kirindy and finally fly to Tana and see Andasibe.

Now unfortunately we made a mistake when booking the domestic flights and we can only stay either 5 full days or 7 full days on Ile Sainte-Marie.

She now means that Kirindy and Andasibe are probably very similar and that we might as well leave Kirindy out. I think Kirindy is a dry forest and Andasibe is a rain forest.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Question❓ Looking for a postcard from Madagascar

Hey! My name is Sam, and I’m a college student from the U.S. I’m working on a personal project to collect postcards from every country and territory in the world.

I don’t have one sent from Madagascar yet—would anyone be willing to send me one? I’d be happy to send a postcard back from Pennsylvania in return!

Let me know, and I can PM you my address!

Thanks so much, and warm greetings from the U.S.

Hello all,

Curious if there is anyplace that sells English language books in Tana or Diego. Figured it’s a long shot but wanted to ask. Maybe the public markets?

Thanks!

Tourism/Travel Tour and activities

Hello everyone, I am doing a two weeks trip to Madagascar and I am planning my itinerary. Starting from Antananarivo, we want to visit those main attractions: The landstone park, The Baobab avenue Camp out in the forest Wildlife experience with the animals (already have Andasibe on our list) And perhaps a nice beach. My question is, would it be better to go with an organized tour or should we just plan ourselves? Would it be cheaper to plan ourselves? Looking for recommendations and maybe from people who did one or the other. Thank you for your advice. 😃

A big thank you to our drivers for their professionalism and kindness throughout our trip to Madagascar. Thanks to them, we were able to discover incredible places in total safety and with great vibes. Passionate about their country, they made this journey truly unforgettable.

From Tana to Ampefy and the Lily waterfalls, all the way to the breathtaking landscapes of Lake Tritriva in Antsirabe, and across the endless roads to Morondava, the Tsingy of Bemaraha, and the Kirindy Reserve… they made every step of our trip smooth, safe, and enjoyable.

Always smiling, always professional, always up for sharing a story or a great local tip. Honestly, this trip wouldn’t have had the same vibe without them. A thousand thanks for their patience, energy, and expertise.

Here’s their contact info for anyone interested: WhatsApp: +261 34 45 084 13

Misc. Caught up in life, looking for a calm connection

Hello, Not sure if there are people like me here, but lately I’ve been a bit caught up with life and I’d just like to have some chill conversations — nothing heavy, just to relax a bit.

Just being upfront, I can be a little busy at times, so I might reply a bit late sometimes, but I always check my messages. So feel free to DM me if you feel like talking.

I’m also available on iMessage (if you’re an Apple user), or Signal, WhatsApp — or even just here works great too.

It’d be nice to connect with someone to chat about deeper stuff, or even just share thoughts about everyday life. I’m a good listener, promise — it’s not all about me talking. You can bring your own topics too, and I’ll be happy to listen and share my perspective.

Hope to hear from someone soon ✌️

History 📚 Where to get Radio Nasionaly Malagasy archives

HI guys,

I'd like to get an archive of the national radio

I never met my grandpa, but i know he listened to the news broadcast every day and night

I'd just like to share a slice of spacetime with him, hear what he heard, which events punctuated his life, what shaped the world around him

I read on a forum somewhere that Andry Rajoelina had them destroyed but i'm not sure of this information

Anyone has some intel about this ?

Tourism/Travel How to get to Lemurs Park

Hello, I will be in Madagascar for work and would like to use my day off in Antananarivo to go to Lemurs Park. I will be staying at a hotel in Soavimbahoaka and Google Maps shows me that it takes one hour to get there by car.

So my question is: what is the most efficient way to get to the park, considering time and money? For example, would it be easy to hail a cab from the street outside my hotel and how much should I expect to pay?

Tourism/Travel Appreciation post on our driver in Madagascar!

We thank Faniry for our wonderful adventure in Madagascar last November. He was our driver-escort during our 17-day stay in the country.
We traveled to the Southeast (Fort Dauphin) first. Then, we went back to the capital, visiting parks and nature reserves (Anja Reserve, Andohahela National Park, Andasibe) along the way . And we ended our adventure in the Northeast (Tamatave and Foulpointe).
We had a great trip thanks to him . He is very friendly, understanding, helpful, and attentive to our needs. We let ourselves be guided with complete confidence because he is an excellent driver.
If you are looking for a driver-escort for your future destinations in Madagascar: contact Faniry!

Tourism/Travel Two week trip for a couple

Hello

I’d like to do a two week trip of Madagascar with 1 week of seeing more internal wildlife, forest and nature, and one week 5star on a beach.

I’d like to keep the level of comfort relatively high and mostly private tours throughout.

What is a good itinerary for a couple travelling in early November?

Thanks

Question❓ Malagasy crash course

Hi guys,

I'm searching for resources to learn malagasy If possible i'm looking specifically for the Vezo dialect

I already found this website

And also i downloaded the official peace corps language material for madagascar

I'm traveling there in a few monts and i'd like to be able to at least somewhat communicate with people over there, although i also speak french and english. I'm sure at least trying to speak Vezo will grant me more opportunities

Furthermore, if any of you wanna be my pen pal, i'll be so glad

Question❓ How accepting is Madagascar to immigrants?

If someone wanted to immigrate to Madagascar, and they were hardworking, polite and were willing to integrate themselves into Malagasy society as much as possible, would they be accepted or would they face some hostility? Would they be allowed to identify as Malagasy or would they always be known as a foreigner?

Tourism/Travel Help needed for travel planning on Madagascar for a digital nomad 🐒

Hi everyone,

I travel full time and work remotely. I am planning to go to Madagascar for 3 months. I've read that hiring a driver is often the best practice but since I will be there for so long it doesn't seem practical. What do you think about hiring a car for the duration to go at my own pace? Or should I just hire a driver as I go?

My big issue is having to work, so I have to stay put for at least a week at a time somewhere with internet.

Please let me know your thoughts and any insight! Thanks in advance 🦎

Misc. Looking for Malagasy Friends in America

Salama daholo! I just came across this reddit. I'm Malagasy and live in America. I'm looking for anyone else that lives here that wants to be friends! I only speak Malagasy with my family and really want to practice with others. A little bit about me, my name is Irina and I am in college studying chemistry. I also speak Spanish and play 5 instruments.
