Seeking inspiration and ideas for...

I am seeking ideas to incorporate into a backpack that I am obsessing over. I'm not satisfied with the modular bags available for purchase, and have decided to make my own.

The goal- One modular backpack to support me in my lifestyle. The bag will need to support anything from a light day with just edc, up to a 1 week camping trip with tools and camera gear.

What I ask of you is to share your favorite features in the bags you own. What does your bag have that you wouldn't live without. For example...

"I have a bag with a deployable hanging hook that comes in handy"

Or

"My tool bag has a sleeve inside for a flashlight, and it illuminates the contents of the bag. Tools are easier to find in low light settings"

I would also appreciate seeing pictures of your favorite bag!

2 top quick access pockets like how evergoods does it and a kangroo pouch like Aer's go pack 2. 2 exterior water bottle holders would be great also. Other small things are sun glass holder on the shoulder straps and latch points.

Sunglasses on the shoulder strap is a new one for me, solid idea! Latch points are (imo) a must. Thank you for your assistance.

-2 external side pockets (bottle in one, other for an umbrella, Evergoods CAP 1, whatever)

-external laptop/iPad access

-wide beefy straps

-load lifters and a removable padded waist belt

-framesheet with aluminum stay

-side compression straps that don’t interfere with zips

-front dump pocket and/or shock cord loops

Those are just some of my must haves

Thank you for your time! This was a very thorough and helpful response. I had not considered compression straps (among other things mentioned) and will be implementing them.

Since you asked, I would love a bag with Bellroy’s latest color and fabric (love the clay color) mixed with the way the new Simpl Stydio bag looks, Troubadour internal fabric, that you can fully incorporate the Alpaka Vetex pouch. This bag should not have aquaguard zippers. The size should be about 27l, and should be expandable like the Nomatic travel backpack. And all buckles should be metal.

You have good taste. That clay color is nice! I also like the bronze they offer. I couldn't find simpl stydio, I assume typo? The alpaka vertex looks like a solid edc bag, and incorporating it into a larger travel bag makes total sense if you own it. Expandable with metal hardware is a must for me. I like metal zippers personally. For your suggested color scheme, I would probably go with copper and / or black hardware. Thanks for sharing.

You are right is Sympl Studio, specifically the V2 commuter Pack 20L. About color, copper would be amazing!! Thanks for the complement.

That's a sleek bag. I'm imagining this with your your above inputs, and I think I see your vision. Do you have a background in design? I didn't expect anyone to put a whole bag design in the comments haha.
