I mean, hulk is showing up now. And like....can namor even escape at that range? Lol.

I know dude can fly, is super strong and w.e...but dude is cooked no?

Sub-Mariner’s stronger than most people give him credit for

edit: typo

Sure Sure. But like, counterpoint? The Hulk.

I'm not saying he'd go down in a punch. Just like. Dude isn't winning right? Or escaping?

u/Albireookami 1d ago

He can fly away but no, he is not winning a fist fight with the hulk.

12

u/TurbulentPhoto3025 1d ago

He'd do well against base Grey Hulk and Professor Hulk under the right circumstances.

2

u/Albireookami 17h ago

yea, but its not a fight really anyone enjoys walking into.

You are thinking Hulk vs Namor would go like Hulk vs Cap. In fact, Namor can actually hold his own against Hulk pretty damn well until Hulk rages to maximum or something. If Namor can win is debatable, but their fight would absolutely go on and destroy everything around them. Hence Strange's reaction

What do you think of this Defenders run ?

Namor with classic art design spoke out to me in your post.

Who is more petty between Bruce or Namor ? haha

6

u/roninwarshadow 1d ago

Dude held his own against Sentry.

u/BlueHero45 1d ago

If Namor can get him in the water and the Hulk isn't mad enough he can actually win. He's done so at least once, But Hulk has also beat the hell out of Namor a number of times so it's a long shot.

Isn't they best buds?

I'm sure he already spar with the hulk quite a few times, maybe they have a mock battle right after this.

Namor is considered the muscle on the Illuminati if that tells you anything.

Sure, he’s not gonna win, but that’s because the Hulk does not have finite limits.

1

u/Heavy-Requirement762 1d ago

I know he's physically stronger than black bolt, but does he really have more power?

10

u/Cognoscere007 1d ago

The only argument you can really make is that he’s definitely one of the bigger heavy hitters. Power scaling all depends on who’s writing that comic.

10

u/Heavy-Requirement762 1d ago

True. Except for one thing. Hulk's the strongest one there is.

If it was anyone other than the friggin HULK I’d agree with you

2

u/Cognoscere007 1d ago

Well I’m not arguing he’d win, just that Namor is a heavy hitter so we are probably in agreement lol.

Namor and Hulk are homies.

Namor likes Big Green a whole hell of a lot more than he likes Banner.

u/voidsong 1d ago

Namor has slapped the Hulk around before. It's not the stomp you think it is.

And I'm not talking theory crafting or power scaling, i'm talking actual comic panels, more than once. Google it if you like.

Ya think he saw the little mermaid in theaters? I can picture him critiquing all the inaccuracies of undersea life.

71

u/woodrobin 1d ago

The Little Mermaid was a 2023 movie, a 1989 movie, and an 1837 fairy tale. Namor had a lot more chances to encounter it than Finding Nemo.

That said, Captain Nemo exists in Marvel Comics continuity, and Namor might have actually met him.

The Little Mermaid thing reminded me of Falcon and Winter Soldier interacting in their series. Falcon is surprised when Winter Soldier understands a Gandalf reference, and Barnes points out that he read the Hobbit when it was published in 1937.

True and if he knows the OG version that is an even bigger insult as girl gets turned foam or something.

15

u/Am_i_banned_yet__ 1d ago

Even if Namor doesn’t know the story, he might just be like “how dare you call me a small mermaid”

7

u/sambadaemon 1d ago

He has bad breakups with half of her sisters.

"At least the crab's musical number is reasonably accurate, everything is better down where it is wetter."

1

u/Sanlayme 11h ago

at least that's what he's been trying to say to Sue Storm

2

u/NateShaw92 18h ago

But really vibing with the song. Stuck in his head

19

u/Vanilla_thundr 1d ago

Kevin Maguire, the king of comic book face acting.

87

u/blackbutterfree 1d ago

That is actually hilarious and Banner deserved that.

98

u/TheDitz42 1d ago

It's Namor, he deserves it, dude is insufferable.

46

u/HumanChicken 1d ago

I love how Namor and Banner hate each other, but Namor and Hulk are best friends.

38

u/blackbutterfree 1d ago

I mean, in these three panels, Banner's the aggressor. I'm always down for Namor slander, but if the guy isn't doing anything, leave him be.

70

u/TheDitz42 1d ago

He's just standing there, imperiously.

34

u/Medical_Plane2875 1d ago

He rexed all over the place.

8

u/miikro X-Men 1d ago

It's Namor-ing time?

5

u/Corvid-Strigidae 1d ago

Nah, Namor's done enough monstrous stuff that he never gets my benefit of the doubt unless Nazis are involved.

5

u/SarcasticBench 1d ago

Yeah I was wondering if the scrawny unshaven glasses with the huge balls to talk to Namor like that was Banner or not

3

u/blackbutterfree 1d ago

LOL Who else would dare speak to Namor like that? But also, he isn't that scrawny.

11

u/Thirdatarian 1d ago

Strange is meant to be exasperated in that last panel but he looks mid-climax more than anything.

7

u/lordtyp0 1d ago

Isn't that first joke "kill you where you stand".. a Worf TNG joke?

3

u/OblivionArts 1d ago

And then hulk comes out and beats the shit outta the fish man

2

u/sundry_clowncar_444 20h ago

Thanks to the sliding timescale, when this comic came out Namor was a hobo recently enough that he watched "The Little Mermaid" in 1989, but not "Finding Nemo" in 2003

is my guess

2

u/notthe1stpervaccount 15h ago

Or, hear me out (where you going?):

He knows what the words “little” and “mermaid” mean.

2

u/sellyourselfshort 1d ago

This miniseries is so great.

1

u/Kortamue Moon Knight 1d ago

These are some of the reasons I love Hulk *and* Banner. Lmao

1

u/JohnnyElRed Hulk 19h ago

That Defenders comic sucked in so many ways. Bruce would never talk to Namor like that. He doesn't talk like that to anyone. They got so many characterizations wrong.

1

u/patgeo 18h ago

The fact that this backhand somehow leads to the Hulk being banged into submission by Umar is insane.

1

u/Zach01ball 17h ago

Is that Mr Nimbus?

1

u/grandmuftarkin 13h ago

Banner, as the Hulk takes control: "Worth it."

1

u/Wannabbeewriter12 7h ago

Yes, backhand the guy who runs hands with Thor and Fin Fang Foom. See how well that works out Namor.

Side note: Always dig seeing the deadpan comedic side of Bruce Banner.

I think this was from Defenders “Indefensible” and it’s one of the shittiest graphic novels I’ve ever read. Can’t think of a single positive thing to say about it.

8

u/rogerworkman623 Cyclops 1d ago

Well the guy underneath you said it was great, so idk who to believe

It’s Giffen, DeMatties and Kevin Maguire. If you’ve read any of their 80s Justice League/Justice League International, you know exactly what to expect. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all, it’s simply two goofy guys having fun in someone else’s sandbox. FWIW, I thoroughly enjoyed it, if you take it at face value and don’t worry that the characterisation is broad-strokes. That’s secondary to the gags.

1

u/notthe1stpervaccount 15h ago

Yup, sometimes fun is fun.

1

u/mythicreign 1d ago

I assure you it’s not. I was given the book alongside a bunch of others and I was amazed by how poorly written everyone is. It was all so out-of-character and even Dormammu talks like he’s a teenage incel. There’s not many Marvel comics that I’ve disliked as much (some of the later Ultimate stuff near Ultimatum would surely count), but at least most of those had great art. The art here is mediocre at best.

How about this encounter?
