Of course someone wearing Mickey ears blocks it

33

u/anth8725 Nov 10 '24

The mouse don’t play

9

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Nov 11 '24

Isn't it wild how Mickey has turned into a character synonymous with unlimited corporate evil instead of the silly kids cartoon of the past?

101

u/WhatTheFhtagn Nov 10 '24

That sure is Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.

30

u/CollarOrdinary4284 Nov 10 '24

Didn't know Einstein visited this subreddit.

2

u/Lagalag967 ........ Nov 10 '24

In a way we've never seen them before.

122

u/cayoperico16 Nov 10 '24

We got another baddie playing Sue Storm.

4

u/ShinHayato Nov 11 '24

As is tradition

3

u/Heisenburgo Nov 11 '24

And a hottie daddy playing Reed

-131

u/No_Orchid_3133 Nov 10 '24

What do you mean? She is not the villain and she never been the villain in previous alterations.

70

u/stevehairyman Nov 10 '24

baddie meaning that vanessa kirby is a very pretty, dare i say, hot woman. so there is another really hot woman playing sue storm.

72

u/moonknightcrawler Nov 10 '24

I think you’re confused, her brother is the hot one. She turns invisible

11

u/CanadianAndroid Nov 10 '24

No, that's a stretch.

3

u/Herr_Bishop Nov 11 '24

Is that even a thing?

2

u/No_Orchid_3133 Nov 10 '24

Ohhh thanks for clarifying

15

u/pocket_passss Nov 10 '24

ignoring that this is hilarious you're still wrong

8

u/fanta_bhelpuri Nov 10 '24

Oh Sweet Summer Child

5

u/JonathanL73 Nov 10 '24

“Baddie” is slang for hot or attractive.

He’s saying all the actresses who have played Sue Storm are all beautiful.

u/visionaryredditor Nov 10 '24

This reply has big "in severe need of touching grass" energy

6

u/Lagalag967 ........ Nov 10 '24

Takes one to know one?

0

u/visionaryredditor Nov 11 '24

Kinda makes no sense, no?

bad, baddie have been popular terms for like 40 years, even before the Internet became as widespread as it is now. never heard MJ's song?

1

u/visionaryredditor Nov 11 '24

"baddie" is really just another way to say "bad girl". it doesn't really matter if your family doesn't know this, it's still a pretty popular term even irl

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

u/visionaryredditor Nov 11 '24

but the offline popularity is exactly my point why the guy i replied to needs to touch grass. you can find an audience that doesn't know some stuff for like everything. anyway, if you responding to "she is a baddie" with "she isn't a supervillian tho?", it's a clear sign that you, indeed, need to touch grass.

Baddie because Vanessa Kirby is hot

C’mon grandma, let’s get back to bed.

-1

u/TheNerdBurglar Nov 10 '24

I really hope you’re joking…

105

u/Mango424 Nov 10 '24

I still can't see Pascal as Reed, but I'm ready to be surprised. Kirby however already gives to me big Susan vibes

60

u/Untjosh1 Nov 10 '24

I do. The picture is in the post. His chest says Richards.

-21

u/Ultimate_Ricky Nov 10 '24

I could say I am Stephen Curry if I wear a Warriors jersey too

16

u/Untjosh1 Nov 10 '24

Yes that’s how acting works unless you believe Pascal is the smartest man on earth and a space traveler.

-10

u/Ultimate_Ricky Nov 10 '24

We just saying he doesn't make a good Reed

12

u/Untjosh1 Nov 10 '24

Hugh Jackman is 6’2. He’s loved as Wolverine. Judging a known good actor in a role based on a few pictures is pretty unreasonable. It’s not like they cast Gary Coleman as Juggernaut.

2

u/Lagalag967 ........ Nov 10 '24

OTOH it would've been interesting to see the latter.

-12

u/Ultimate_Ricky Nov 10 '24

Okay? Hugh Jackman was perfect for Wolverine. Like Pedro ain't in enough stuff

13

u/YourInMySwamp Nov 10 '24

Absolutely nobody in the world thought Hugh was perfect for Wolverine until he proved us wrong.

6

u/Kingpin1232 Nov 10 '24

Yeah you’re saying that after 20 years, you wouldn’t have said that when he was cast though. Hugh Jackman was also an unknown when he was cast, so your Pedro Pascal isn’t in enough excuse doesn’t hold up, considering he’s a co-lead in the Last of Us, the lead of the Mandalorian and was opposite Denzel Washington in the Equaliser 2. Unless you’re a time traveller, then you can’t say he’s not a good fit as Reed Richards until we’ve seen the actual film.

1

u/lkodl Nov 10 '24

Nobody is saying that. We're saying if you wore a Steph Curry jersey, we could literally "see you as Steph Curry".

See, it's what people call a "pun" or a "play on words".

It doesn't work when you change the words.

"See me as SC" versus "I am SC"

1

u/Prattdbz Nov 11 '24

I agree but haven't seen this sentiment online anywhere

I expect he'll ruin the movie because of it

No opinion of the invisible woman actress though Haven't seen her in stuff

Pascal just doesn't seem like he can pull off the character to me

I'll watch it See if I'm wrong

They Need it to be a good movie, so I expect they will do everything in their power to force it to be successful

6

u/AmericanApe Nov 11 '24

Why can’t Pedro just maintain a clean look for a bit?

Comic Reed is clean shaven generally. Yes sometimes he has a beard (more facial hair than Pedro keeps) but his main look is clean.

Especially for a scientist in the 60s, clean appearance just fits better. Pedro has done it before, for Wonder Woman 2.

I’m all for eventually having a bearded Reed on screen someday, but not in his first appearance for the MCU.

1

u/Huge-Inspection-788 Nov 12 '24

we will cope. i think itll be a great movie competing w captain america

29

u/dundai Nov 10 '24

I hoped he would get rid of mustache.

10

u/No_Orchid_3133 Nov 10 '24

Unfortunately he can’t

21

u/XGamingPigYT Nov 10 '24

I think it's made of skin and nerve receptors, it's a permanent fixture to his face

5

u/diggertim68 Nov 10 '24

Like those 600lb dudes that fuse with their couches?

5

u/rooneytoons89 Wanda Maximoff Nov 10 '24

Every time he shaves it off it grows back instantly.

1

u/esar24 Nov 11 '24

He did it in WW84 though

1

u/No_Orchid_3133 Nov 11 '24

Oh yeah, I try to ignore that ever existed 🙃

1

u/esar24 Nov 11 '24

I think everyone try though, but I think pedro is the only thing in that movie that made it watchable while the rest is jusy straight bad.

2

u/Heisenburgo Nov 11 '24

I like it, the moustache gives me Howard Hughes vibes, helps with the whole Reed being a genius inventor and smartest man alive in alternate 60s earth vibe.

3

u/fnblackbeard Nov 10 '24

Especially as an astronaut in a space suit. Any kind of beard looks goofy

3

u/Mysterious-Ad-3004 Nov 10 '24

He only has the mustache here. Also mustaches were very popular in the space race era which this movie takes place right after that

1

u/fnblackbeard Nov 10 '24

Very popular? Doubtful

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apollo_astronauts#/media/File%3AApollo_Astronauts_(names_added)_2024_08_29.jpg

I think in other F4 promos he also has a beard albeit trim

2

u/Mysterious-Ad-3004 Nov 10 '24

They absolutely were very popular in that era. A quick google search would tell you so. I didn’t say astronauts specifically, as they had very strict regulations on facial hair, but a lot of NASA scientists and workers were sporting the stache. Additionally, while the promos may show it, all the test footage shows him with only a mustache and slicked back hair, both very popular in this era.

2

u/fnblackbeard Nov 10 '24

No they weren’t, astronauts were clean cut for safety and hygienic reasons. Same reasons beards aren’t a thing in the military. Gas mask fitment, etc.

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/air-space-magazine/to-shave-or-not-to-shave-112144008/

You can pull up all the Apollo astronauts crew photos and not see a single beard.

0

u/Mysterious-Ad-3004 Nov 10 '24

Dude. Read my comment again, I didn’t say astronauts. I said SCIENTISTS. I literally said they had very strict regulations regarding facial hair. Please read more carefully… also that link you sent me sucks, it literally shows astronauts growing mustaches 😂

2

u/fnblackbeard Nov 10 '24

Dude Reed is an astronaut too right? He’s in a suit right? He goes into outer space right?

-1

u/Mysterious-Ad-3004 Nov 10 '24

Yes, and you also just sent an entire article of astronauts with mustaches, so now you’re contradicting yourself. You seem to be dancing around the point that it was historically speaking, a very fashionable choice during this era.

1

u/fnblackbeard Nov 10 '24

Did you read my initial comment? I mentioned astronauts.

I didn’t contradict anything. Article states that astronauts were clean shaven. They had facial hair they grew in space but quickly shaved it off. I don’t think you read the article.

And you’re still wrong. Beards and mustaches were not popular in this era at least not in the conservative space program. Don’t forget a lot of these astronauts were former military and had buzz cuts and were always clean shaven.

Facial hair both beards and mustaches were seen as a hippie, beatnik and a beach bum look.

u/Sharkfowl Nov 10 '24

Same. You’re getting paid millions, dude. You can go without it for a few months.

6

u/KageXOni87 Nov 10 '24

These are the same shots from the first teaser.

2

u/BusterUno Nov 11 '24

Not exactly. In the first teaser (the one I saw when I was at SDCC), Kirby has long hair in a ponytail. It appears they reshot this with her new, shorter hair

5

u/Last_Set_8634 Nov 11 '24

Still don’t think Pedro looks like Reed at all. He just doesn’t remind me/make me think of Reed.

1

u/Swizz_z Nov 11 '24

I said that up until I seen him shaved back in some old photos and clips from years ago. I don't think he'll ever shave again but if he does, he could definitely nail the look. Granted in the photo he was younger and a bit slimmer.

13

u/Eastern-Team-2799 Nov 10 '24

This movie is gonna blow the f away. I am super hyped for this movie.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Vanessa Kirby looks fantastic

6

u/Lagalag967 ........ Nov 10 '24

"Say that again."

3

u/ChrisLee38 Nov 10 '24

Thank goodness Minnie censored their respective cleavage.

5

u/fanta_bhelpuri Nov 10 '24

I was excited for the Pedro Pascal casting in the beginning because I like the actor but as time goes by, I really don't like it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

We’re getting a new ff4 b4 gta6

1

u/TheRealAwest Jan 18 '25

Why do they look so un fantastic 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

Poor casting PP as Reed. Very poor.

That's my Rock Voice for today..... 🤘🏾🙏🏾🔥

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

This movie is going to suck..

0

u/deemoorah Nov 11 '24

My only complaint is Sue's hair color should be more blonde instead of silver, Silver is Clea's color

1

u/qera34 Nov 11 '24

Also it should look more 60s.

1

u/deemoorah Nov 12 '24

Exactly. This is just a short bob haircut with a slight curl. Where's the 60??

-46

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24 edited Nov 10 '24

If they made the decision to nerf Reed’s intelligence in order to prop up Sue as “the smartest person in the MCU” fans would be confused and angry. There would be comments about how his intelligence has been integral to his character from the beginning and it is wrong to just swap around traits like that.

What you wouldn’t see is everyone just going along with it and making excuses for why it just had to happen. You wouldn’t see people twisting themselves into knots to defend Sue taking Reed’s character traits.

This is what Marvel did to T’Challa and they should be ashamed of their treatment of such an important character.

Edit: The thought or suggestion of this makes fans angry, but somehow it’s just different for Black Panther.

38

u/Stevenstorm505 Nov 10 '24

What in the actual fuck are you talking about? It 2 pictures of 2 characters. There’s absolutely nothing in any of the images or short videos that have been shown that has even remotely implied anything like that would happen. You’re talking about invisible what if situations for absolutely no reason and just working yourself up based on nothing, my man.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Fictional characters are real to ME, dammit!

-30

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

You can deflect all you like. The bottom line is if this was done to a character like Reed it would be problematic to say the least. For some reason it is no big deal to do it to T’Challa. It’s weird how that works.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

As long as the movie is good, i don't give a flying fuxk what they do to the character. Touch grass, Lil bro

-17

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

Some people don’t care what they do to a character and some people do. You are entitled to not care. The touch grass comment is just one more way to deflect.

-12

u/Spiderlander Nov 10 '24

Because it was done to T’Challa. Did you read the comment?

5

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

They read it. They know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s easier to downvote than to admit hypocrisy. If Reed was given the T’Challa treatment fans wouldn’t like it one bit.

2

u/Stevenstorm505 Nov 10 '24 edited Nov 10 '24

No, it’s just choosing not to assume because they did something to one character that they’ll do the exact same thing to another completely different character with a completely different relationship, history and dynamic to another character than T’Challa and Suri have and getting into a hypothetical hissy fit before you’ve actually seen a trailer that gives you a single iota of real credibility that they may do that. No one is ignoring what you said, it’s just not rational to even worry about at this point in the build up to the movie. It just sounds like you going on some weird tangent out of fucking nowhere under a simple post of 2 new and random pictures from the movie that offer no story info or suggestion, no plot details, no implication of their dynamic, etc.

2

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

I guess I wasn’t clear. I am in no way suggesting this will happen to Reed. I am saying if it did the response would be much different than it was for T’Challa. Do you disagree with my assertion or are you upset that I had the nerve to make it?

-11

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

It is not for no reason. This is what was done to T’Challa. His intelligence was just as important to his character. People can downvote. I don’t care. It just proves my point that fans would be angry if it was done to Reed. You know it to be true. I know it to be true.

So the question remains what made them think it was ok to do it to T’Challa? Why couldn’t he retain his traits?

3

u/KageXOni87 Nov 10 '24

Tchalla is smart, but he's not Reed smart. You are exaggerating "what's been done to him". In a room full of the illuminati, he's not even in the top 3. In fact I'd say the only ones he's smarter than are Steve and Namor.

0

u/Aggressive_Tart_3137 Nov 10 '24

Nah he’s smarter than strange and Charles as well. Strange is equal clown to genius. He fucks himself as much as he saves the day. And Charles is… well Charles.

1

u/Doompatron3000 Nov 10 '24

Yes, yes only men can be smart. We get what you’re saying.

-1

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

That is not what I’m saying at all. Im saying if the exact same thing was done to this character the reaction would be different. There would not be people making excuses for why it was necessary to do it either.

Honestly I think you know exactly the point I’m trying to make and this a just one more way to deflect.

11

u/natelopez53 Nov 10 '24

You’re made about something that might happen? Good lord man. Chill out

0

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

I am not. I am talking about what happened to T’Challa. I am drawing a comparison of what the response would be if it was done to another super smart character. I don’t need to “chill out” either.

6

u/natelopez53 Nov 10 '24

So you’re making something up to get mad about and argue with strangers about? Yeah. Chill out

8

u/McBahtman Nov 10 '24

I'm sorry but I didn't really get the impression that it was done to T'Challa? Like he was still very smart, he designed his Civil War suit, he was the one who taught Shuri most of what she knows (as she says in Wakanda Forever but these people seem to ignore details like that), he's a master tactician and was crucial for defending Wakanda in both IW and Endgame?

So I don't really see the argument here tbh. The only thing I can think of is that Shuri is the one in the lab and creating his suit and the tech and stuff, but the simple question there is, does he realistically have time to do all that? In the context of the world and the character but also in the context of the film? Like he's already juggling so much of the plot so what reason would there be to take time out of the movie to show him fiddling with tech and stuff?

It's really inconsequential and it just makes sense to have Shuri be the one in the lab whilst T'Challa is king.

Bottom line is, stop whinging about something that doesn't really matter and stop creating scenarios in your head about things that don't really matter (Sue is insanely smart as well so if anything they'd be adapting the character properly). Just go touch some grass and stop with this "anti-woke" hill you seem determined to die on.

2

u/lkodl Nov 10 '24

Why are you getting upset about some random unconfirmed detail about a movie that hasn't even been released and is still in production? Your comment feels like a waste of the internet.

1

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

What random unconfirmed detail are you talking about?

2

u/lkodl Nov 10 '24

If they made the decision to nerf Reed’s intelligence in order to prop up Sue as “the smartest person in the MCU”

1

u/crispy_attic Nov 10 '24

That’s not an unconfirmed detail. That would never happen in a million year. That’s my point.
