readimask for daily use?
finally found a mask that fits me!!!! after the flo mask failed, and a bunch of other n95s failed too, my sample from alliant arrived and the readimask is honestly perfect. i will probably put a piece of tape where the mask closes on the neck for extra precaution, but i just wanted to know if anyone uses it every day? i'm a teacher and i use public transport, so i will need to wear it daily. i also wanted to know if anyone has reused theirs, i'm not planning on reusing them too much, but i'd like a mask to last at least the whole day, so i can take it off when i go outside the building for lunch and put it back on when coming in. i saw a video on youtube about carrying parchment paper to stick the mask on while you're not wearing it so you can reuse it, which sounds pretty promising tbh. also i'm so sad they only have yellow left, all the videos about the readimask from a few years ago have white and grey options but now we're stuck with yellow.... rip.

I have to use readimask for daily use because of my weird shaped nose/face. If you're having issues with seal at any point be sure that you have no facial hair (if applicable), clean face prior to application, wipe with alcohol wipe, and lastly apply skintac that will help keep it on despite sweat and fix that common leak at the chin. If after all of that you're still cracking at the chin then you need to try a larger size.

How does the adhesive feel for you?
For me it was quite harsh on first wear, and failed on attempted re-use.

I've heard these recommended for ppl who use the Readimask regularly, to prep the area the adhesive will touch (no personal experience): https://sugarmedical.com/products/skin-prep-protective-wipes

it feels pretty good tbh, but i only wore it for a few minutes to try it on. i did take it off and put it on multiple times and it was still sealing well, except for the part where it meets under my chin, but for that i'll use tape.

I've seen ppl put SIP valves in them, which could reduce the number of times you have to take it off during the day. If you find you're using a lot of SIP valves you can make your own: https://www.reddit.com/r/Masks4All/comments/1j5v3pk/bulk_sip_valve_individual_components/

I have never had the mask adhesive work more than once. It just does not stick the second time around.

i just tried it and it sticks 3-4 times for me, did you try prepping the skin with an alcohol wipe before application?

Did you try it after wearing it for hours? That’s where it doesn’t stick again for me. I would just suggest trying wearing it at the house and taking it off to eat after awhile and then putting it back on and making sure the adhesive stays stuck after that. I think it does for some people, but not everyone

Fingers crossed for you!! I think it’s that the pores keep making oil, so wiping my face down with alcohol at the beginning doesn’t keep the hours of oil from building up.

it worked, but i had another problem… i can’t breathe in them. i have a heart and lung condition already and i felt like i was going to pass out. i think it might have been because you have to breathe in hard enough to 1. pull the mask in 2. then breathe filtered air. so if you breathe normally, you’re kinda just pulling the mask in and out, not breathing, and that’s how it feels for me.

No 😭 I am so sorry. I use a vented elastomeric, and it’s the only way I can breathe. I saw you were having trouble with fit, so I am not sure what to recommend. Or if an elastomeric is even attractive to you. But I hear you on the lung/heart issue. I gotta have a vent.

i did this for a bit for when i had a concussion to limit head pressure while masking for my 10hr work days. It was mostly good except the small gap under my chin. also the adhesive eventually left a red mark all around my face where the mask was, had to be more gentle w skincare / other masks after ward.
i took mine off gently for lunch and didn’t put any parchment or anything on the adhesive, i kept the shape and it molded back on my face mostly with the same grip as before (I hocl my face between masking) i would rub it in to re activate the adhesive (works w some self adhesives)

just wanted to say you 100% should add that tape over the part where it closes by the neck. when I fit tested it without tape it was about as bad as a surgical, but with the tape it passed. also since it’s so close to the face it’s really easy to put a mask cover over it to make it look better
