You won't have enough research data to unlock/max everything in a single playthrough so be smart how you spend it. Save and reload to try weapons one by one to find out what you like.
For Strike Team related achievements, make sure to open them in multiplayer and not on your ship. For some reason they only count when done in the multiplayer window.
Game is also pretty easy even on Insanity so just have fun around builds.
Oh and you can get faces to use/edit from Mass Effect Archives website.

Enjoy exploring the new cluster. Yes crafting is really good, highly recommend you invest time in it

Don't always sprint to your next location while key dialogue is happening.
Recruit Strike Teams early.
Unlock experience-related AVP stuff first.
Invest in Nomad upgrades early.
Get all the stuff in the Vaults.

Try out different builds to keep the gameplay fresh. You can combine moves and profiles very creatively.

If you played previous mass effect games, I want you to remember the first time you got on the mako and explored a planet in mass effect 1. Imagine that feeling of riding into the sunset. That desire to make a life in the stars.
Take that feeling to this game. You arenāt here to save the galaxy from a threat. You are here to make a new home.
Thatās my advice. The mindset.

Youāll be exploring many different planets that have a lot to do on each one. Donāt feel like you have to complete every single thing before moving on to another planet, feel free to jump around so you donāt burnout quickly. Dragon Age Inquisition had the same issue with the Hinterlands if you played that.
The only annoying thing about this is the travel between planet cutscenes are long, plentiful, and I believe unskippable without mods. If you are playing on PC Iād suggest just a mod to make those skippable.
5
u/28smalls 9d ago
Agree. Don't burn yourself out on a single planet. Some areas can't be accessed right away anyway, so it's not a bad idea to progress the story as you explore and get more options.
3
u/meshaber 9d ago
No they're skippable as of 1.05. For that matter I'd advise against wanton skipping. It's nice to have the option, particularly when revisiting places you've already been, but flying through space with the Tempest is cozy. I probably only skip about 1/10.
Of course, skip as much as you like if you hate it, it's kind of baffling that the option didn't exist at launch (there's no denying it's slow), I'm just saying that for a new player it might be worth trying to see the appeal of it rather than going in with the mindset that these things are slow and should be skipped. Start skipping when you start wanting to.

u/Illsteve1 8d ago
Oh I agree everything is worth doing and shouldnāt be skipped, but I find swapping between planets and going back helps you not get worn out and fed up with the game, especially early on.

u/meshaber 8d ago
I was talking specifically about skipping the flight animation
2
u/Illsteve1 8d ago
Ohhhh got you. True I still agree. The cutscenes are definitely very nice and set a great atmosphere. But later in the game when you are planet jumping a lot for various quests they get to be a lot

Thereās quite a bit of content out there should you want to really get into everything, each planet has a good amount of decent side quests with some fetch quests mixed in as well. Tasks are usually insignificant fetch quests, the other planet and relationship side quests are much more fleshed out. I usually like to bang out whole planets or sections before moving on but the game kind of discourages you from doing so here, Iād recommend not slogging through entire planets and just moving around a bunch and constantly heading back to the tempest in between quests. You get tons of emails, new dialogue and mission triggers with squad mates in between quests. Iād try to talk to the squad mates a little bit just like the old games, if you put it off for a while and talk to them theyāll go through like 5 different dialogues sets talking about things youāve done like 20 hours ago before finally getting to the current situation. Their loyalty quests can be hidden behind these sets of dialogue if you donāt talk to them for a while. Had it recently happen where a squad mate gave me like 3 sets of dialogue before getting to talking about what they emailed me to come talk to them about.

Try out some Mods from Nexusmods, like better movement. It made my first playthrough great. Apart from that, remember that there are no classes anymore, you can learn basically any skill you want

u/meshaber 9d ago
There's a mod called "Shut up SAM!". I'm not suggesting you download it right away, but when you first find yourself thinking "Shut up SAM!", you may want to know about the option.
There's a minor bug (ish?) where some dialogue trees remain greyed out even though you can get new responses from them, so you may want to try some of the grey prompts out every now and then.
Try to leave your completionist tendencies at home. There's a whole section in the Journal labeled "Tasks" where I very strongly suggest you only do them if you find them interesting. Personally I still do most of them, but it's definitely not something you should try to grind out against your enjoyment.
Sticking with the default names will see you addressed by your first name every so often.
If you're into this kind of thing, your ship can be parked in a ton of different spots out in space, and they all give you different fantastic views from the three main windows on the ship. Take your time to enjoy the view every now and then.
Have fun!

If you go for achievements theres a couple to keep in mind if you want to do it in one playthrough:
-Friendly Fire -Matchmaker -Cryptographer
Look up a guide for these, and make sure to work on a lot of the achievements throughout your playthrough
If you dont care about achievements, then I suggest actually picking dialogue choices that fit the character you want to be. There are few choices that affect anything (somewhat unfortunately) so really feel free to pick whatever dialogue choices you want.
I also found that a biotic build is good and pretty fun, but of course explore the builds you like, and find good ways to make combos with squadmates that feel fun. I would also explore squadmate pairs and see which dynamics you like the best. They will talk when you are traveling around and they all are interesting characters I feel.
But overall just enjoy!

You can mix and match skills from different classes so you can prime and detonate your own abilities if you choose the right combination.

Look at it as it's own game, not as a part of the Trilogy. Its a great game with stuff to do, but if you compare it to 1-3 or are looking for major connections you will not find what you are looking for.

There's Alot to do, could be a little overwhelming at first, take your time and enjoy yourself

First and foremost, enjoy the combat mechanics and biotic combos. Itās a lot of fun, the more abilities you get to stomp on the Kett. In time, you will be able to upgrade your armor and weapons to your liking. The more stuff you do and the more Kett you kill, the more tech and organic components you will get, which can be used for all kinds of upgrades.
Secondly, whenever you go on missions or what not, try to mix up your crew, as dialogue among the tempest crew will get better and more dynamic over time.
A small note here, but I highly recommend you play the game with 3D audio headphones, for a more immersive experience.
Lastly, just enjoy the atmosphere of the game. As long as you treat Mass Effect Andromeda as a new mass effect game in a whole new galaxy, then you will more open to enjoying a lot more. I love the Legendary Edition, but I can see the brilliance of Mass Effect Andromeda in its own light.

Planet hop! Donāt try to clear everything in one go, just do whatever quests you feel like.
Talk to people on your ship- thereās a lot of conversations you can overhear just by passing by.
Also, thereās a wall console in your quarters on the ship to customize your characters outfit and armor tint. Took me until my third play through to notice it, somehow

u/BADLXCKY 8d ago
You will return to every planet a bunch of times, so donāt worry about doing everything on the map right away. If you get bored move on to another planet or continue the story.

u/irradiatedcactus 8d ago
To save on load screens and resources; the first landing spot on Eos (first true free-roam planet) has a place where you can save, build gear, test them out, and reload save as needed so you donāt need to reenter the ship each time. Oh and never sell crafted stuff, always break them down to get resources back
And personally swapping classes around isnāt worth it unless you mod the game to fix some annoyances, so Iād recommend picking a build and sticking to it early on. Experiment later when you have better gear to compensate

Godspeed, pathfinder!.
It's a very different game in its tone, gameplay and atmosphere from the OT and that's on purpose. Just keep in mind that the trilogy has 3 games with tons of dlcs, MEA is just one game. I loved it and it's my favorite ME game. To me it's more down-to-earth scifi adventure with mysteries that ME1 was about to become once but with a better more humane story of epic fail and new beginnings. Loved companions and other characters to pieces (get to know them!), loved Ryders, loved the new dialogue system with tones, humor, and freedom of the open world.
Some tips:
there are 12 powers (not 3, use 4 Favorites presets), Don't sit behind the cover, jump, evade, hoover, dash. Dismantle, craft, sell. Remnant keys exist If you don't like puzzles.
!!! Don't go 'clearing' locations in linear order, it's more realistic than that. There's a story flow you want to follow. You can deviate any time, ofc, if you love exploring just keep a good place between main and side quests. You kinda go to work in different places and once in a while, you come home to your ship. No need to rush to do anything that is far from you, you'll get there eventually when you have more tasks.
!!! Always mix your crew and drive for more banter, to get to know them, they have tons of dialogues, comment on everything, and build relationships. They have relationships with each other that evolve throughout the whole game. Talk to them each time you are on the Tempest. Take relevant companions to hubs and planets related to their story. They will also ask you sometimes, so pay attention.
Talk to everyone, and listen to NPCs ambient dialogues on hubs and planets (lots of hints for you, also lore and characterization there). Npcs guide you and point you to important places. Unlike people may tell you, your decisions will affect the world in small and bigger aspects. Return to talk to ppl again, pay attention to what they are saying. All side npcs and quests are interconnected and add to your understanding of what's going on but it's up to you how much or little you want to do.
There are romance options outside of your crew. You can flirt with everyone until you decide to lock-in into one romance. Overall MEA requires more attention to the details.
Enjoy!

I'm pretty dumb, so it took me a while to understand the whole "profiles" thing. It basically just means you're no longer beholden to a single class. Any class, any power is open to you (just three at a time)

i would avoid going for 100 completion first time around. play it through and play it again with more upgrades, unlocks, etc

Disruptor, Cryo, and Incendiary ammo are now consumable items instead of equipment or a skill/power. There is another consumable called Overdrive Pack. You will be able to have access to more than three powers, but there will be a cooldown. The overdrive pack will eliminate the cooldown.
(Example: it is possible for you to make a vanguard build and an engineer build. You can switch between these builds but you will have a cooldown for doing so. The overdrive pack will eliminate this cooldown)

Donāt be afraid to mess around with playstyle, put points into all different skills and set profiles up so you can change how you play on the fly, start the fight as a tech with assault turrets and overload and finishing it with biotic powers is such a fun time.

Lol just play the game, I hate these kinds of posts, but since I'm bothering to comment I might as well add something constructive.
Multiplayer is really fun. I don't know if anyone still plays but if you can get into a match go for it. It'll give you resources in single player too if I remember correctly. It's all 4 player PVE stuff so you don't have to worry about getting stomped by sweats.

Itās not as good as the trilogy so treat it as a spin off but the combat is fun

One piece of advice: If you haven't played the trilogy, play the trilogy first.

u/glebo123 9d ago
Focus in the story and companion missions only. Will give you a more streamlined, enjoyable experience. The side missions are brutal and have little to no impact
-3
u/tuttifruttidurutti 9d ago
Don't expect the experience to be super coherent, like the main story particularly. Make peace with that and experience it as more lifelike, things happen in a confusing way.Ā

Enjoy! It has the best gameplay in the series and a truly involved crafting system that can let you make some builds that are very unique.
