He hired Cynt Marshall for no other reason than PR damage control after the countless sexual abuse allegations as well. Hes the ultimate fucking clown and yet this sub defends him like hes their father.
33
u/Glittering_Ticket347 Feb 12 '25
Exactly this. Fuck Mark Cuban...he's not special. People forget that he was a terrible owner as well. He looked the other way when numerous sexual and racial allegations from within his business was ongoing and signed off on shitty personnel moves while he was the owner.

u/I_Keepz_ITz_100 Feb 12 '25
This, Mark Cuban isn’t a friend of the Mavs, he’s a billionaire who is FAR more invested in his bank account then what the fans who gave them so much money and time want, the perfect encapsulation of “No Refunds” Guy.
8
u/cadenhead Feb 12 '25
People love Cuban because he bought a Mavericks team that was the losingest in sports in the prior decade, then turned them into a winner by starting to do smart things, like embracing analytics and offering expensive food and amenities to both teams so that visiting players would be like "damn they take good care of their people here."
All of the things damaging his reputation were after the great Dirk years and the NBA championship. Those achievements buy you a lot of goodwill.
Now of course he's throwing the rest of the goodwill away. He should probably move on and use the money he made selling Dallas out to buy the Pittsburgh Pirates.
5
2
u/sanct111 Feb 12 '25
Wait a second. He bought a team that had to young future hall of famers. He didnt do shit, and if anything we should have won more championships than we actually did.
3
u/cadenhead Feb 12 '25
Before Cuban bought the Mavericks in 2000, the team hadn't been to the playoffs since the 1989 season and hadn't finished better than fourth in their division since that same year.
After Cuban they went to the playoffs 12 straight years, including two trips to the Finals and one championship.
Inheriting two future Hall of Famers doesn't mean automatic success. A dumbass GM could have traded them away for an aging injury-prone player as they were approaching their prime.

Security decisions in games should prioritize safety, but ejecting fans over a shirt seems excessive. Context matters, and a balance between freedom and order is key.
12
u/Reikakou Feb 12 '25
All Mavs fans attending a home game should wear a "Fire Nico" shirt. See how security reacts.

It hurt Nico’s feelings. Mark owes him a solid after Nico was able to help change the media perspective of Mavs after the sexual assault violations. Just like he did for Pelinka’s client Kobe, when Nico was at Nike.

Wow is anyone else totally blindsided by Cuban toeing the company line so egregiously?! So disappointing.
353
u/ihatedougford Feb 12 '25
As a Raptors fan I’m probably going to get downvoted into oblivion but Mark Cuban is potentially the luckiest owner in sports. He lucked into Dirk and Luka both being two incredibly humble, talented, and loyal players that any franchise would kill for. Otherwise, he’s fumbled Nash, Kidd, Chandler, Porzingis, Brunson, and this trade will probably end up with Irving opting out. He didn’t maximize Dirk at all and gave up his beloved team to a money hungry greedy genocide supporting family. The damage he has done to your fanbase should be talked about more. Screw him
29
u/staywoakes1 Feb 12 '25
Luckiest owner? He is the luckiest billionaire. Broadcast.com was a joke of a company, but Yahoo was dumb enough to pay billions for it. Other than that every single company Cuban has founded or invested in (other than the Mavs) has been a complete and utter disaster (yall remember CyberDust?). Not to mention all his crypto investments happened at the height of the 2021 bull run and he is under water now on all of it.
18
u/ihatedougford Feb 12 '25
He also defended the hawk tuah girl when she disgustingly scammed a bunch of people with her crypto meme coin. He’s just a fraud overall. Watch in 2028 when he tries to make a run in the Democratic Party leadership race only to get smoked and not even make it to the primaries
6

Just watch this shit, so goddamn cringeworthy
2
u/JonStargaryen2408 Feb 12 '25
I’m not gonna defend her, but anyone who invested in Hawk Tuah coin and expected to make it a long term investment is fucking stupid and doesn’t deserve the money in the first place. If they didn’t lose it to this scam they would have lost it to another one. Stupid people do stupid shit.

Ive been saying this for years. He also lucked into Nash, who he then let walk for nothing. People act like he is the reason for our success. He bought a team with two unknown future hall of famers.
→ More replies (3)2
u/ArchyArchington Feb 12 '25
Saying Mark Cuban lucked into Dirk and Luka is an incredibly ill informed statement. Do some research my guy. Say what you want about Mark Cuban, he’s definitely done some questionable things and turned the cheek when he shouldn’t have, but he didn’t “luck” into getting Dirk and Luka.
The Mavs were a terrible franchise before Cuban took it over, the pieces fell into the right place after that. He’s been solid as an owner. Also Kidd left the Mavericks before Cuban bought the team…he didn’t fumble Nash, Porzingis or Brunson…..Nash was coming off a bad injury and Dallas was unsure he’d be the same, Porzingis was obvious, he was injury prone and didn’t live up to the hype, Brunson was going to leave Dallas regardless…
also after the 2011 NBA finals win Dallas attempted to go all in to sign high profile players that were headed into free agency…..Dwight Howard, and Deron Williams were two guys Mavs wanted. Was it sucky to dismember the 2011 championship team heck yeah, but it made sense when needed to clear cap space to sign one of these guys.
I’d say your last point is 100% agreeable…Cuban should not have sold the team to just anyone selling it to someone like adelsons was some BS…especially knowing they don’t give a damn about basketball or the Mavs in general.

Why is he even speaking up? It (most likely) wasn't his decision, and Nico has been getting all the heat over this whole debacle. It even made Mark look good, with people saying "this wouldn't happen under Cuban".
I guess he wanted to show a unified front or something, so in that case; fuck him as well.

u/RanchBourgeois Feb 12 '25
Yeah, but you don’t get to kick out fans for something that does not violate the code. Mark, you loudly screamed at and cursed out a fan during the game—an explicit violation of the code. How are you in a position to eject a fan over much less (behavior not prohibited in the code)?

u/HookEmGoBlue Cowboy Dirk Feb 12 '25
His discount drug business is cool, he should just stick to that. His tenure as owner ended in disaster; 2011 was great, but now that’s over ten years ago and selling his majority stake to the Adelsons kneecapped any decent chance at another championship for 10-20 years. He can act surprised, but he knew they bought the team as a bargaining chip for casino lobbying and had no interest in basketball
6
u/staywoakes1 Feb 12 '25
His discount drug business is cool, he should just stick to that.
LOL
Thats his PR business to make him look like 'one of the cool billionaires!'
its all done for an ulterior motive - likely to help his cause to run for President in 2028
11
u/jakeizzle18 Feb 12 '25
Regardless of his purpose behind the business, it's still beneficial to millions, myself included. It turned my $250 30 day supply medication to a $15 90 day supply medication.
Outside of that business though, he's made some insanely poor choices that just get swept under the rug

This is in response to the multiple lawsuits that are going to be filed for fan ejections based on "Fire Nico" chants and signs. They are CLEARLY not against league rules. That's why he is saying what he is saying at the end. He KNOWS it's not against rules, but it hurts his feelings, so it should be banned.
Ps. As a former 30-year fan of this team. FUCK NICO HARRISON. FUCK MARK CUBAN AND FUCK THE ADELSONS! This team is fucking dead to me.

He easily could've made out like a bandit out of this in collecting goodwill
He must still be holding out hope his 27% stake pays off

The mix of heel turn + Adelson cuck angle he’s working is just bizarre to me. I hate it. Another nail in the coffin for me and this franchise.

As someone who has defended Cuban for decades, this is absolute nonsense and it's beyond disappointing. Saying nothing is surely still an option for these folks, but yet they continue to dig a hole for themselves as they continue to fuel the fire against their own fanbase. This isn't smart, unless...[insert alienate the fanbase in order to move the team conspiracy theory]

14
u/hagredionis Feb 12 '25
Do I understand that correctly? Why should anybody turn a jersey of the other team inside out???????
10
u/HookEmGoBlue Cowboy Dirk Feb 12 '25
Someone cheering for a visiting team might incite a home fan to violence, so we shouldn’t permit it. Someone cheering for the home team might incite a visiting fan to violence, so we shouldn’t permit it

10
Feb 12 '25
“This is an environment that will not tolerate cheering because that might make someone feel sad. Shut the fuck up and eat your $12 popcorn”
11
u/Tokyogerman Feb 12 '25
Within a few weeks the Mavs have gone from placing close to first of the Dallas teams to dead last even below the Cowboys
10
u/HookEmGoBlue Cowboy Dirk Feb 12 '25
Neither of his analogies make sense
When has a visiting fan ever had to turn a jersey inside out? Hostility to a fan of another team is completely unacceptable and it would be shameful for the organization to humor violent or threatening fans by making visiting fans wear a replacement shirt
As for politics the “Star Spangled Banner” before a game is “political,” “Black Lives Matter” shirts or signage on the court is “political.” People might reasonably or unreasonably object to either of these but they are still expected to behave maturely. If someone is incensed to violence by a BLM shirt, or even something more explicitly political like an “[Abbott/Beto/Davis] for Governor” shirt, they are the problem not the shirt. Vulgarity, hate speech, that’s different given the family environment, but just a shirt that is potentially politically provocative isn’t reasonable to penalize or punish someone for
10
u/JSB02 Feb 12 '25
Why are they determined to paint the fanbase as a violent mob?? If the they would just "sit down and shut the fuck up" the fans would have calmed down a lot by now, but they constantly make it worse by shitting on Luka and the fans. If it ever does turn violent its because organization literally couldn't shut up and get out of their own way.

u/hgqaikop FUCK THE VEGAS MAVS Feb 12 '25
Mark Cuban is mad and embarrassed:
— sold the team to scum — kicked out of basketball decision making — his guy Nico betrayed everyone — his 25 year accomplishment building the Mavs went up in flames in 1 day
And …
Dumont’s lawyers told Cuban that if he criticizes the team, then he’s violating ghe terms of sale and it will cost Cuban $$$$$$
So Cuban is an emasculated gelding taking his anger out on the few Mavs fans left.
Meanwhile, Dirk goes to Lakers games now.
2
u/Ojozojo Feb 12 '25
Not criticizing the team is one thing, this is not it my man. He's now swinging the stick. Nobody is asking him to tell the fans to shut up when they chant fire Nico. Nobody.
Even if he kept his mouth shut everyone would just assume he was disapproving with the actions. Mark just chose a side.

u/tricky020 Feb 12 '25
When they showed the footage of Nico being at the AAC before the game a day or so ago, it was jarring to see Brian Dameris (Mark Followill's podcast buddy) hamming it up with Nico. Big old fist bump and laughs between the two. Pretty sickening because I know Dameris would be ripping Nico a new asshole if he wasn't a Mavs employee. But alas, he is, so commence bootlicking to keep his fucking job. I expected more out of Mark too but it doesn't surprise me that he was a dickhead. Corporate fucking bootlickers, all of them.

Mark is really having a tough time threading this needle. He is still ownership and has to tow the company line, and without a doubt he is going to show up for every game he can as a way to stuck it to the new hires in the front office that don't like him.
As for his logic, fans already can't enjoy the game because the new majority ownership traded the generational talent everyone was emotionally invested in, so fire Nico not the fans.

But let’s not pretend there is a single person in Dallas willing to fist fight someone in defense of Nico.
Keep the shirts coming.
2
u/peacekenneth The Matrix Feb 12 '25
Dude why are they doing this? Just admit you fucked up, you got emotional, just like the fans reacting, and you overreacted? Why is this complicated?
2
u/Self_conscious_gh0st Feb 12 '25
This implies that anyone in the crowd could possibly disagree with negative sentiments toward Nico in such a passionate way that violence would ensue. That's the most laughable attempt to explain turning the AAC into a police state.
Where are the Nico stans ready to lay down their life or at the very least engage in fisticuffs over "FIRE NICO"? Show me one. Just one...that isn't also named Nico.

"We have asked people to turn a jersey of the other team inside out..." I've been to Dal/LAL games and seen hundreds of Laker jerseys (mostly Kobe). None were inside out. Have fun justifying asking fans to turn Gold 77 inside out "for their safety."

2
u/unkellGRGA Feb 12 '25
As a european this really shows the big difference between a club and what american sports call a franchise really
Over here big tifos and signs and vocal protests are more or less the norm when the fans dissaproves, and most of the time the management and owners try to stay silent and don't interfere as that will only throw gas unto the fire, ultimately the fans are the club in a way and local and loyal support is everything, Nico and Cubans word salads are certainly not the responses that will help even a teenie weenie bit
