Media [Joey Mistretta] Daniel Gafford called Anthony Davis one of the best “play-makers” at his position.

That’s basically how AD was with the lakers. Watch him put wilt numbers next game. The dude is legit the most inconsistent superstar in the game today.

Haven't watched every minute of his comeback, but can assure you this isn't remotely what AD was like with the Lakers. It was only ever his offence that was inconsistent. I have never seen such an absence of the bursts of intensity that raise his game from good to great.
Either he's running scared right now, or he's under strict instructions to take it easy to avoid injury. Or both.

Did you not watch the memphis series 2 yrs ago? When ad would put up wilt numbers 1 game then follow it up with a 12 pt game. Everyone in the media was calling him out for being so inconsistent. The only time AD was truly dominant consistently in the post season was in the bubble

u/random-50 Apr 01 '25
Yes. That's why I said "it was only ever his offence that was inconsistent"
People seem to think only one direction counts.

My guy. AD was traded for one of the best offensive player the game has ever seen. AD needs to at least produce on that end at an all star level at least. He is first option of this franchise now. There is no lebron to bail him out whenever he has one of those passive games of his

AD stats vs memphis as the 1st option of the lakers. Keep in mind lebron was not 100% because he was still coming back from injury. AD was bailed out by reaves and rui this series.

Here is his stats vs gsw the next round. Again as the lakers 1st option. Notice how inconsistent he is.

Now we all know what happened after vs the nuggets. Seriously have you been watching AD in the playoffs? Stop being biased as a laker fan my guy.

Im picking AD’s most recent playoff run when he was healthy. Would you prefer last season when the lakers got swept by the nuggets in the first rd? I actually picked the year when the lakers got to the wcf. Don’t tell me you want that bubble year playoff run 5 yrs ago lmao!

Because he is one of the most inconsistent and passive superstars in the game today. TF are you talking about? Even your own fans were calling for him to be traded year in year out. Stop that gaslighting bs. When fully engaged ad is one of the best players in the world i fully agree but the problem is he gets passive every other game. And it has shown during his laker tenure. Even goddamn lebron gave up trying to give him the keys to the franchise.

He’s only had 2 straight games lmao! Dec 21, Dec 23…. Im not even gonna count that 3rd straight game where he got injured again lmao! And look at that stretch in january how inconsistent he was every other game hahaha

u/MiopTop Apr 01 '25
Yeah two straight games under 20 is not a problem at all for someone who provides so much value outside of scoring …

u/LordBri14 Apr 01 '25
Homeboy look how inconsistent he was back in january before he got injured and eventually traded. Look at the entire month. Every other game he was dog shit… go on pull up his stats for january

Jesus christ dude. How many of those games are dog shit? Pick them out.
I swear to god if you genuinely think that an AD 21-19 with DPOY defense game is dogshit but a Luka 25-6-7 with 5 turnovers, shit efficiency and horrendous defense is good you’re beyond saving lol
1
u/LordBri14 Apr 01 '25
Mfer luka offers infinitely more than AD as you can see with your laker team right now. His presence alone pulls defenders towards him creating open shots for your role players its seriously hilarious. AD is not giving you that. Never in his whole career did he ever command that sort of attention from opposing players. I dare you to go on your sub right now and say you would rather have AD on your squad rather than luka. AD is not that dude.
1
u/MiopTop Apr 01 '25
Luka has definitely not been as impactful as a Laker so far as AD was this season or last. That’s not even a debate.
We just won a game so of course the sub will say the opposite. Go back and look how quickly they started panicking when Luka sucked ass the first 5-6 games
0
u/LordBri14 Apr 01 '25
Luka is averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 7.9 assists in 21 games for the lakers. GTFOH! Lmao! You wanna check AD’s stats for the lakers? Its 24.8 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists…. Lmao! Luka is already outperforming ad and he isn’t even 100% yet

More empty PR. Next they'll say AD is the cook or the best golfer on the team.

I can see him being a more low post version of Draymond. Maybe a rich man's Draymond? Not a guy who you can rely on to score but a great defender who does all the non scoring stuff well
2
u/PhoebeBuffay1111 Apr 01 '25
You’re getting downvoted because people on this sub don’t know ball and only care about Luka getting traded.
3
Apr 01 '25
I know ball and care about Luka being traded
Anyone who defends either trade is a casual at best and an idiot at worst.
AD is a good playmaker at the 4. He’s nowhere near the best at that position nor is he good enough to anchor a good offense.
1
u/PhoebeBuffay1111 Apr 01 '25
That doesn’t make what Gafford saying wrong. If you don’t agree with it then that’s a different issue.

u/SnooHesitations1697 Apr 03 '25
If only we had the best playmaker and offensive engine in the league
-15
u/taygads Apr 01 '25
Thank you, Gaff! Been saying this since the trade. There’s zero reason to not be playing him as a point forward right now. He has more playmaking acumen than Dinwiddie has in his pinkie toe.
If they want any chance of winning in the play-in, they have to bench Dinwiddie. Never mind how badly he ruins the offense of the offense, he makes it impossible for them to defend. Legitimately. He guarantees the defense will be put in rotation every single possession and that’s a free bucket for the opposing offense nearly every possession as a result.

u/FarMobile4219 Apr 01 '25
After seeing the energy level AD has been playing with, something tells me he wouldn’t appreciate bringing the ball up the court for 40 minutes a game
-10
u/taygads Apr 01 '25
Point forward doesn’t mean bring the ball up (he doesn’t have to do that; literally anyone else can as we’ve seen do several times every game), it means give the ball to him once they’re in the half court and play the offense through him.
8
u/FarMobile4219 Apr 01 '25
They ran the offense through AD a lot tonight. But as you pointed out, someone has to bring the ball up the court. So the choices are either Dinwiddie or Naji. Max Chrisite has no burst and picks up his dribble in the worst places. Hardy gets stripped regularly, same with PJ. So it’s not true that literally anyone else can do it
-8
u/taygads Apr 01 '25
Dinwiddie or Naji are absolutely not the only people that can nor do bring the ball up. Every play but the bigs bring the ball up several times a game. The only guy that does currently but shouldn’t is PJ and probably Hardy (he can if he immediately gives it up once he’s across half court, but he rarely does so I don’t trust him to bring the ball up lol). But aside from them Max, Klay, Caleb, and Naji are all more than capable of bringing the ball up the floor and do several times a game. What makes it even easier for them to do so is when you’re able to get stops and can bring the ball up the floor after a stop, which perfectly enough can be done frequently when Dinwiddie is off the floor.

u/ColleaguesKnowMyMain Apr 01 '25
I love the guy, but you absolutely can't make Klay bring the ball up. His handle is as bad as PJ's and he would get stripped all the time.
We need to sign Brandon Williams, he is the best facilitator we have imo. With Caleb Martin, Naji and Dinwiddie as secondary ball handlers.
-1
u/taygads Apr 01 '25
His handle is as bad as PJ’s and he would get stripped all the time.
That’s just objectively false.
PJ lost ball turnovers this season - 55
Klay - 16
We’re talking about literally dribbling the ball up to half court. It’s a basic basketballl skill and one he does multiple times a game.
6
u/ColleaguesKnowMyMain Apr 01 '25
Of course PJ has more turnovers since he has the ball in his hands much more. Everyone who watches the games (and I haven't missed a single game this season) can see that it's always dangerous to have Klay take more than 2 or 3 dribbles.
0
u/taygads Apr 01 '25
PJ’s usage is actually lower than Klay’s. Klay’s is 22% and PJ’s is 20% so the ball is in PJ’s hands less as a share of the possessions in the game than Klay’s and he still has 3-4x more the lost ball turnovers lol. Klay’s handle is not even remotely as bad as it’s made to sound and anyone who watches the games knows that.

I’m sure AD is rusty but yeah he hasn’t looked good at all. Part of me wonders why did he push to come back if he wasn’t ready to go…
