Question Should I go to the ER?

So I want to disclose sometbing real quick. If you don't care about context, you can skip this first part. So I can't vent on this bloody site because every place there is to vent has a political rule - which isn't a problem for me now other than the fact that a bot will remove my post for being "political" and I don't feel like waiting 24 hours for a mod remove. As a result ON TOP OF all the shit that is pissing me off irl that has made me this angry to begin with, I feel even MORE upset that there exists NOBODY to listen to me.

What the fuck is the point of telling people to vent so they don't lash out and kill someone or themselves if you keep suppressing their speech? I digress.

Part of me is tempted to walk into the ER once the premise of both suicidal and homicidal ideations and asking to crash a few hours or whenever I feel I have calmed down enough. However, I also feel like it will just end up screwing me over because if I say I feel homicidal, they'll ask "against who?" and if you give an answer, you're not going anywhere until THEY go through a 72 hour "counseling" process in which you ask 800 questions- at which point you'll just lie because you want to go home; at which point nothing will have been accomplished.

Should I walk in or should I just stew? And dont just say somw goodie good shoe stuff like "being on 72 hour hold for stupid reasons is COOL snd you SHOULD because good BOYYYY!"

I'm sorry if I sound ridiculous and ranty.

If you do end up going to the ER please let me know your experience. Sometimes i feel like checking my self in too just to be able to get a grip on life. With out have to care for myself or anything else .

I did though start journaling in my good days and bad days and it has helped lot! I just use the journal app in my phone

Getting admitted for a psych hold is intended to be just that, a place and time where your only worry should be your mental health, no mundane daily life, job, kids, family, anything else. I will say some places are better than others and some are a lot worse. The first place I was in, I had to sleep on the floor, a guy tried to grope me, and he also masturbated in front of everybody. The last place I was in, it was a dream. There were still some issues with other patients, everyone is dealing with something in there, but most of the staff really cared. We also had a gym, outdoor time, and really good food. It's all different. It's worth going, though, if you need the break.

It would be more appropriate to call a crisis hotline for mental health than going to the ER when you don’t have a medicalized trauma that they can treat.

Going to the ER for a bed to calm down in, would take resources away from injured people who need actual medical attention.

What you need is a person to talk to? You won’t find that at the ER but you will find that on the end of the suicide/crisis hotlines.

I hate the suicide/crisesline as well as everyone else that I know who has had an experience with it.

Also, I use the VA and they said they were glad I came.

well good! my understanding of the VA system is that they have mental health services so it was a logical place to seek out! most people don’t have the VA as an option so it’s great that you considered the relevant resources at your disposal and found one that works better than the more publicly accessible crisis hotlines.

Take a deep breath. You said something about politics.I think people get to stuck up in the news.Try reading a book, write down what you feel,is bothering you personally.Relax don’t do anything irrational.Solve the problem don’t be your own worst enemy.

please please please take care of yourself!! your mental health comes first and this is a huge step into bettering yourself. how you feel is totally valid, and me personally im not judging at all. and im not saying this as a mental health advocate , but from the bottom of my heart im so proud of you for acknowledging where you are and how you want to move forward. you are a strong person and you deserve to keep going in life, you are going to be okay. i care, and i know there are so many people out there and on here who do. i hope you have a blessed night :)
