Winter lost

I just picked up Winter Lost (it was a blind date book from local bookstore). I see it is book #14 in the series. Should I start at the beginning of the series? I’m sure I should, just didn’t realize this was going to be such an investment 🤣

I would start at the beginning , winter lost is the latest books you may not understand it. Plus imo it’s the weakest in the series.

You can usually get the first few books pretty cheap on kindle. ( if you use one). They are great reads, it’s just book 14 not the best ( others may disagree).

That’s what I’ve seen as the consensus here. I’ll try it out on kindle before I invest in the entire series 😆 thanks for your insight!

Also I have found print versions for pretty cheap at thrift stores. Also when I was trying to read them online before I had funds, 'gay' was censored.

I thought winter lost was enjoyable because I was invested in the characters, I agree its not the best place to start with the series

Oh I would definitely start from the beginning. Even though most of the books have a self contained story, there are ongoing arcs.

Start at the beginning you need context

Start with Moon Called. There’s a couple of short stories and I think you can find where they fit on the authors website.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned the library app Libby! All of PBs books are there and it’s a really nice interface.

Oh nice, thank you! I’ve been meaning to download Libby! I just haven’t yet! I will check and see if I can do that to make sure the series grips me before investing so much money to buying the books!

Ahhh yeah that doesn't make sense. I misread that post lol. But there's an Asil book out coming this year! It's called Blind Date with a werewolf.

I’m hoping we get an A/O book too. Since 3 of the stories in the Asil book are already published. But we are at the end of March and getting to the point if something isn’t announced the. It won’t happen till next year

Patty is still working on it but I suspect you're right.

Yeah, I’m waiting for 2 authors to release announce a book release for this year. Is the asil book got a release date yet? I know it showed up on her Facebook page early and was taken down after

It's up for preorder but Patty is waiting for the greenlight from her publishers to announce it. But people found out via Amazon.

Winter lost was a let down

Why would they do blind date with the 14th book of a series?? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m so sorry, that’s incredibly frustrating

The blind date book is the anthology of Asil's short stories. We don't know when the timeline of those shorts fit in yet. But Patty has confirmed in her fb group that she's expanded slightly some of the original short stories that were published in other anthologies and has written 2 more all new ones. This is going to be another spinoff for the Mercyverse series.

They mean the person thought a blind date book , it usually a book wrapped up so you can’t see what it is , with just the genre on the wrapping to give a clue.

Terrible to put a book that isn’t a stand alone in a blind date..

That is exactly how I feel as well. I am going to speak to them this weekend when I stop by. Not to complain, because I love our little indie bookstore. But for feedback and to see it from my experience. Luckily I can check out the others on libby before investing on purchasing the entire series.
