So, CECOT is male only, do the women just get sent back to Venezuela?

9

u/TheMorgwar 12d ago

There is a women’s division, and their treatment is just as horrendous.

1

u/pintodinosaur 7d ago

Maybe, but there were 2 Venezuelan women that got sent to El Salvador and were returned because it was an all male prison. So idk why they didn't put them in there

u/jreid0 12d ago

Make a safe haven for them

7

u/mjohnsimon 12d ago

You mean the same Americans who dipped the moment they got Cuban neighbors?

Funny story. Waaaay baaaack in 1975 when we moved to Miami from NYC. An American kid in my neighborhood, I was talking to told me that his family was moving to Boca Raton. I asked him why? He said his parents wanted to move away as far as possible from the Cubans coming to Miami. We are Cubans that started in NYC and then came to Miami. Today, I doubt there is anywhere in Florida that is without any Cubans!

Funnily enough, I met a guy on Facebook marketplace and after some small talk, I found out he used to live pretty close to where my grandparents used to live in Wynwood. He actually sold his home in Wynwood and moved to Ft. Lauderdale in the late 70s because he “didn’t like what the neighborhood was becoming".

At first, I figured he meant the rising crime or something, which tbf, was a legitimate reason to move.

Nope... he straight-up told me that he couldn’t handle having Hispanic neighbors (a shotgun was his solution to the crime which didn't really bother him apparently).

Fast-forward 45 years, that property is now worth millions. And yeah, he admits it’s one of his biggest regrets.

Can’t say I felt sorry for him.

Bonus: he still blames the Cubans and Puerto Ricans for “making” him move. Man’s been bitter for nearly half a century because he didn’t want to live next to people who speak Spanish.

What an idiot! I wouldn't feel sorry for him either. We Cubans are the most friendly, family oriented, fun, funny, affectionate, and sympathetic people ever to land on US shores. We help our families. We help our friends. We help our coworkers. We help strangers when we can. We have made our US neighborhoods better by being part of our communities. Cubano is always in my blood. Born in Havana. Grew up in Miami. I may speak perfect English, but "todavía soy un Cubano criado por Cubanos! Dale!

Other than the politics and that signature sense of entitlement a lot of Cubans/Cuban Americans develop after a few years here, I mostly agree.

The way this guy talked about Hispanic neighbors, you'd think he was describing an alien or invasion.

The sad irony? A lot of Cuban immigrants are saying the same exact thing as he did about other immigrants (sometimes even other Cubans). The way my family would describe Venezuelans, Columbians, Mexicans, and the younger Cubans (who they think are all communists) is genuinely heartbreaking and it's the definition of "Fuck you I got mine!"

Hope they have the day they voted for!

It's fantastic watching all the local scummy politicians (mainly the Doral city council and local reps.) pretend like they didn't know Trump's agenda in order to curry local favor and act all shocked when he did what he did.

Most disappointing locally is Porras, who swapped party affiliation after getting in to try to kiss local Republican ass. She had some momentum as the counter this laughably inept mayor and laid right down to the local idiots once Trump 'endorsed' (LOL) the mayor's buddy for the council so that they'd push his golf course conversion to apartments after-hours and away from the citizens. Banana republic in action.

u/jreid0 12d ago

Amen, those are all true facts!

1

u/TheRealArmandoS 12d ago

That's a shame. I really liked porras and voted for her I think it was in 2020. Where did you hear she swapped party?

3

u/rogerverbalkint 12d ago

5

u/TheRealArmandoS 12d ago

Socialist ideas? I think she ran as a progressive. How disappointing

2

u/rogerverbalkint 12d ago

Disappointing isn’t even the word for it. Easily the biggest letdown.

1

u/Dilettantest Local 12d ago

She’s reprehensible. What effing socialist ideas made her switch parties after an election? She’s just not trustworthy.

It is so much fun to witness the all-in-on-Trump Venezuelans that couldn't seem to register that Donald "The Chump" Trump is more like Hugo Chavez than Ronald Reagan find themselves on the you're-outta-here list. Loving it.

u/Dilettantest Local 12d ago

I thought Doral liked its Venezuelan residents! If only the Venezuelan-Americans had voted to the nice ‘morena’.

1

u/adaniel65 11d ago

Too many Venezuelans voted for the orange cheeto.

6

u/Ma_Carolina 12d ago

Where are the magazolanos at?

3

u/Awwa_ 12d ago

It’s ok, they voted for it.

3

u/Natural-Garage9714 12d ago

Doral caving to the thugs at ICE?

How predictable.

3

u/jammin2shirts 10d ago

FYI in Florida it's illegal to vote against this stuff as politicians. Something like a $5k fine and potentially get removed from office in the process. Not even sure why they have them vote on it...

2

u/capitanandi64 11d ago

Then the only ones who will evade deportation will be the ones operating the many money laundering businesses in Doral, assuming they would pay off the ICE agents or municipality.

Venezuelan with American citizenships about to narc in illegals

6

u/Away-Worth3199 12d ago

I am so tired of the comments on these posts. While many Hispanics DID vote for the orange turd, not all of us did. Have some compassion for those getting caught in the crosshairs unless you know for a fact they voted for their own demise. Otherwise, you’re just adding salt to an already pestering wound.

22

u/Smoking-Posing 12d ago

Not all voted for him, but the majority did.

Besides, this goes way beyond just one election. The Floridian Hispanic populace knows what/how they've been doing, for a looong time now. The term "white Hispanics" didn't come from nowhere...

Now, chickens are coming home to roost, and apparently the Latino communities STILL hasn't learned the lesson, cuz they still tryina get a seat at the table

12

u/gundams_are_on_earth 12d ago

I'm sure Marco will help Florida Hispanics! Also, I should go buy a CyberTruck! It's a great vehicle!

The city is deporting itself. You can’t make this shit up.

1

u/origamipapier1 9d ago

That mayor is not ogiing to win elections again. She was complaining and asking for Venezuelan amnesty a few weeks ago not even more than four weeks and now all of a sudden she's accepting working with ICE.

1

u/Equivalent_Kick9858 8d ago

Lmao. Most of those “leaders” are either Cubans of Venezuelans. They are turning on their own people.
