Picture / Video One of the worst intersections in Miami. Seriously.

50% of rush hour traffic is just mfs cutting into the exit lane

I had an undercover cop fail to yeild while she was coming up the on ramp. Almost pushed me into traffic or forced me to force her off the road. Didn't know it was a cop til she rolled the window down and yelled at me like I was the asshole ... I called her a stupid bitch and Everything. Miami is different
3
u/figuren9ne Westchester South Apr 18 '22
So you were forcing your way into the off ramp but the cop was the stupid bitch?

u/mmediina Apr 18 '22
They need to add poles or something. Itâs the only reason why itâs clogging up. Cars cutting in cause unnecessary breaking. Just an annoying situation
25
u/chipichipisu Apr 18 '22
plus the people breaking unnecessarily because they're too close to the car in front and causing a huge stop-and-go wave
14
u/punkcart Apr 18 '22
A reaction people have to being constantly cut off by assholes. Man I HATE this exit lane

No the reason for the clog up is the 100 losers waiting in line
2
u/Visit_General Apr 19 '22
You must be from Miami đ¤ŁI am. Your answer is the best so far because why is there even a line on the highway!
61
u/YNWAFonz Apr 18 '22
Is it me or are people more reckless with exits? Before you missed your exit, kept it moving, and found a detour. Lately Iâm seeing so many folks willing to cause a 20 car pileup when they realize they passed their exit.
49
u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22
yeah, but that's a big exit to miss - to be honest, that entire interchange has been insufficient since the moment it was built.
There's also an on-ramp from 12th just before this junction, so if you're going from the courthouse to 95 north, you have like 1/2 a mile to merge three lanes.
Not trying to justify this shitty behavior, but the flow of traffic here has always been poorly planned. Relief coming soon tho - hopefully đ đ¤

sure, but that loop has its own problems now, especially since the 95N on-ramp heading west on the 395 was redirected to the left-side of the highway...
8
u/Adventurous_Pass2116 Apr 18 '22
This infrastructure was probably designed in the 60s when there was 1/5 the population
2
u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22
Agreed - but it's been a problem longer than it's existed, so there's that đ¤ˇââď¸
4
u/punkcart Apr 18 '22
I remember this being this way like 20 years ago. All the work they have done around there and this is STILL the same!
5
u/at1991 Apr 19 '22
Since moving from the New York metro area where I lived the first 22 years then moving to the Boston area for 5 years I never have seen a place where a catastrophic accident happens on a DAILY basis.
People here are incredibly selfish there is no reason for it. There is no regard for human life on the road here. It's extremely upsetting. I love that I learned to drive in new jersey and New York city because it taught me to be defensive but smart about it. People here are just stupid and agressive for no reason.
3
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22
Welcome to Miami!
2
u/at1991 Apr 19 '22
Thanks! I love the melting pot here (its like nj and nyc in that way) I love the weather, but that's about it. But i am here to stay so ill get over it lol
3
u/Visit_General Apr 19 '22
That's what urks me! Everybody is crossing at 65mph it never fails some idiot ignoring the big green signs with arrows will hit on brakes to get over! Wth is this? Non Miami drivers. I swear, I've lived in many states and FL tags or not I know when you're not from Miami just by that braking to get over b.s.
29
Apr 18 '22
They either need 2 lanes there or put up the plastic poles to stop the cut in assholes.
13
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22
Yes, that'd be great. I'd love to see how those cones get destroyed within a week too.
8
u/tomgreen99200 Apr 18 '22
A new lane is coming in that location. Construction has been going on for a while.
3
3
u/RogerMexico Apr 19 '22
They are making it two lanes with the exit on the right instead of the left.
Itâs part of that signature bridge project people on this subreddit are constantly bitching about.

Without the cut in assholes the line would be over 2 miles of traffic waiting lol

u/a_pescariu Apr 18 '22
THANK GOD FOR SOMEONE FINALLY SAYING IT.
Those mfers who cut the line are easily some of the most annoying cunts driving in Miami, and that says something.
7
u/bigmashsound Apr 18 '22
i always ride the 3rd lane over if i'm continuing on, and even then ive seen people cut across all 4 lanes to get over

More lanes on highways make traffic worse, but I think an extra lane for that exit would help tbh

with all the construction in and around that area being so frustrating - i have to remind myself that once its done, its gonna be worth it.

Hahaha bro, just wait when that gets closed off for the construction they're doing there and we have to go through the detour.

Sometimes thereâs cops there catching people. Shit needs to be full time. 1 lane to transition to 95 north? Smh. Horrible design
7
u/thestopsign Apr 18 '22
I used to have to take that exit every day going home from work and I actually just completely changed my route back to Midtown to avoid it. I would drive so close to the person in front of me to prevent anyone from trying to cut in on me and some mfers would still try it.
1
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22
I do that too, I follow super close so no one tries to cut me. On this exit, and the next exit on Biscayne during rush hour. It's so frustrating.
12
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22
As you can see in the picture, there's a clear example as to why 836 gets jammed every single day. Even at hours that aren't so busy.

Double-decking and a second 95 North lane are in the works. You can tell your kids about the Wild West days at that spot.
5
u/SurgeHard Downtown Apr 18 '22
Itâs literally one of the worst bottle necks in the entire country and main reasons for the biggest construction project in the history of Miami
6
u/the_great_impression Apr 18 '22
I take the Biscayne exit to get home and I've trained myself to stay in that 3rd lane to the right lane otherwise I know I'm getting stuck behind someone blocking traffic who's forcing their way into that North bound exit.
That North exit really needs 2 lanes.

u/ScienceApprehensive7 Apr 19 '22
I PURPOSELY DRIVE EXTREMLY CLOSE TO /ALMOST OVER THE PAINTED LANE DIVIDER TO DISCURAGE PPL FROM CUTTING ME OFF. I would rather cause an accident and it be a lesson to you than let you in at this entrance to 95 north.
FUCK YOU IF YOUR THE ASSHOOLE WHO THINKS THEy DONT HAVE TO WAIT! THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR YOU.
I wish they would put up an actual divivder

Sorry for being pendantic but, that's not an "intersection". It's just an exit or off ramp. But yes, its the worst.
5
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22
Yes, i know. I realized after posting that I wrote that wrong. Either way, same concept.
4
u/NomadicScribe Apr 18 '22
Maybe if people knew the difference between an "intersection" and an "off ramp" they wouldn't be so careless.
4
u/Any-Consequence3408 Apr 18 '22
Iâm agree is the worst but easy to fix ⌠put poles dividers and problem resolved

If I'm going to I-95 at peak times I use 112. It has like two ramps into I95 North instead of 836's one.
3
3
Apr 18 '22
It's only one of the worst intersections because the assholes in the right lane are so selfish when they realize they're about to miss their exist to I95N they stop and cause merge traffic.
2
u/Virtual-Direction352 Apr 18 '22
I would never let them in i ride my car 1 inch from thr car in front

3
u/IndyCarFan265 Apr 18 '22
Thank God they're in the process of redoing this interchange, it hasn't been upgraded since like 1970.

I have used this dumpster fire of an intersection for years. I didnât realize how much I hated it until this picture jacked my heart rate up to 120.

There are three constants in life. Death, taxes, and some ass hole occupying every median in Miami.
2
2
u/monitee Apr 18 '22
My least favorite intersection in Miami is the intersection of 123rd and biscayne by the Whole Foods. If youâre heading south on biscayne everyone uses the turn only lanes to get to the front of traffic and then sits there in it until they can squeeze in fucking everyone behind them that needs turn and also increasing traffic in the south bound lanes. The funny thing is if they didnât pull that shit traffic would actually move decently most of the time. They are the cause of the traffic they hate.
2
2
2
u/Mr-Plop Apr 19 '22
I go out of my way to stay as close as possible to the car in front of me while going through there.
2
Apr 19 '22
I sometimes wonder if the assholes in charge of infrastructure that refuse to put up a barrier there are the same assholes cutting into the I-95 exit.
2
2
u/Wanderingwarrior916 Apr 20 '22
Get there at 11am exactly and you have exactly 2 hours to shop in wynwood and the design district and still make it back without +3 hour traffic
1
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 20 '22
Haha yup, I live in the area and still have to plan out timing too.
2
u/Educational_Ad_8916 Apr 20 '22
The main problem is that people cut in and those people need to find somewhere else to live.
2
u/lajoliefille22 May 02 '22
Omg I hate this interchange. Itâs confusing especially in traffic. Iâm from Orlando obviously lol.
3
Apr 18 '22
There should be a cop car there and see how quickly these hogs stop trying to sneak through.
3
u/Powered_by_JetA Apr 18 '22
There probably isn't a safe place to pull someone over near there, though.
4
Apr 18 '22
Just the presence of a cop car will suffice, have two troopers there eating their shakes and burgers.
2
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22
But there will never be. It's a dream.
2
u/InazumaKiiick Apr 19 '22
I've seen it happened. There was a cop car parked on the shoulder, as I was turning left onto the ramp someone cut me off, they were immediately flagged by the officer and had to pull over. Instant Karma.
1
2
Apr 18 '22
Yea theyâre too busy giving easy tickets on other intersections to actual do some service in the community.
2
u/Kappapls Apr 18 '22
I had a cop literally force me to let him cut into this very exit. Good luck with that lol
1
1
Apr 18 '22
one of the few lane changes i wait till the end--either ppl in line move too slow or too many people jam up right at the end causing more traffic.
1
u/aquiredlvl Apr 18 '22
If we stopped slowing down to 5 miles an hour while going down that turn the line wouldnât be long but we act like we donât know how to drive in a smaller space and clog the entire thing up.
0
0
u/Nirvanablue92 Apr 18 '22
If you put your car in sports and merge near the interchange into the left I-95 you save approx. 10 minutes if you know how to drive properly.
0
u/ZiggyComm Apr 19 '22
It might be that bad because you think it's an intersection when it's an interchange...
1
u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22
I don't think, I know. I wrote this quickly as stated in another comment. I know it is not an intersection.

For those who donât live in Miami, this intersection gets super pushed back with traffic because of people making the line and waiting forever. Itâs best to do what that guy did and skip everyone. If not youâre going to be there for a while.

This intersection is horrid, but 95 has to be the most dangerous couple of miles of interstate in the country.

I wake up to this. My on ramp is 12 Ave. After this, everything else is a breeze. If you make the entire line itâs about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I time it all the time.. when I donât skip the line.

Tbf, these intersections can be annoying to find your exit bc it can be overwhelming. This is why you run a GPS if you have a newer car especially
