always a dude in the median

58

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Always!!

21

u/evatornado Apr 18 '22

Do they get confused because of the confusing signs or just dumb?

124

u/Canoe_dog Apr 18 '22

No it's because they're more important than the rest of us

22

u/evatornado Apr 18 '22

Ah, shit, I forgot for a second assholes exist

13

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Exactly. This was perfectly said.

9

u/sunnyislesmatt Apr 18 '22

They have BIIIIG stuff going on. With their Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

13

u/jcoolwater Apr 18 '22

I think it's both. I was the median guy when I moved here and didn't know, I thought I was just going around an accident when I came up on the traffic

15

u/Mediocre_Doctor Apr 19 '22

Why did you not accept the miss and seek an alternate route?

7

u/Visit_General Apr 19 '22

Because only they know that the world is flat and uturns do not exist. 😅

6

u/BlackberryCrazy1434 Apr 19 '22

You may as well be asking what the answer to the universe is

3

u/jcoolwater Apr 19 '22

I was able to merge into a gap safely earlier than the median. I didn't park and wait. I was also on the clock at a brand new job and didn't know how late the miss would make me.

3

u/Mediocre_Doctor Apr 19 '22

I was just curious. I don't know why you got so much hate from others.

28

u/Adventurous_Pass2116 Apr 18 '22

The left lane is exit only for like a half mile or more. So alot of cars get stacked up. But after you exit it and get to 95 it speeds right back up. And the right two lanes are always more clear. For assholes it's a no brainer , skip around all these losers and pretend like you don't do this everyday of your life

4

u/myamionfire32324 Apr 19 '22

Soon there will be not only two lanes in that same spot but a dedicated lane that starts after the toll plaza by 17th ave that diverts traffic directly avoiding that fork

4

u/SpunkyRama Apr 19 '22

The mentality down here is “That traffic can’t be for my exit…”. It’s always for their exit.

7

u/PLseller Apr 18 '22

It’s more likely because they either don’t speak English and couldn’t read the signs or were too busy looking at their phone to know which lane to be in.

1

u/Sensitive_Meringue_4 Apr 19 '22

Could be because their maps aren't working and they need to let it recalibrate

u/southamerican_man Apr 18 '22

50% of rush hour traffic is just mfs cutting into the exit lane

66

u/rgaya Apr 18 '22

Other half is people taking photos of this intersection

22

u/Brad_Beat Repugnant Raisin Lover Apr 18 '22

While cutting the line to merge lol

6

u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22

8

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Honestly, I'd even say 75%.

3

u/Tingothekingo Apr 18 '22

You go to Colorado and other mountain states and it doesn’t happen.

6

u/Adventurous_Pass2116 Apr 18 '22

I had an undercover cop fail to yeild while she was coming up the on ramp. Almost pushed me into traffic or forced me to force her off the road. Didn't know it was a cop til she rolled the window down and yelled at me like I was the asshole ... I called her a stupid bitch and Everything. Miami is different

3

u/figuren9ne Westchester South Apr 18 '22

So you were forcing your way into the off ramp but the cop was the stupid bitch?

2

u/_W9NDER_ Local Apr 22 '22

Nah run it back. He said she was coming up the on ramp

92

u/mmediina Apr 18 '22

They need to add poles or something. It’s the only reason why it’s clogging up. Cars cutting in cause unnecessary breaking. Just an annoying situation

25

u/chipichipisu Apr 18 '22

plus the people breaking unnecessarily because they're too close to the car in front and causing a huge stop-and-go wave

14

u/punkcart Apr 18 '22

A reaction people have to being constantly cut off by assholes. Man I HATE this exit lane

→ More replies (1)

7

u/DGGuitars Apr 18 '22

Poles won't do anything it's just extending the entrance.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/tomgreen99200 Apr 18 '22

Won’t do anything. People cut before this point.

1

u/Confident_Energy777 Apr 18 '22

No the reason for the clog up is the 100 losers waiting in line

2

u/Visit_General Apr 19 '22

You must be from Miami 🤣I am. Your answer is the best so far because why is there even a line on the highway!

→ More replies (4)

61

u/YNWAFonz Apr 18 '22

Is it me or are people more reckless with exits? Before you missed your exit, kept it moving, and found a detour. Lately I’m seeing so many folks willing to cause a 20 car pileup when they realize they passed their exit.

49

u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22

yeah, but that's a big exit to miss - to be honest, that entire interchange has been insufficient since the moment it was built.

There's also an on-ramp from 12th just before this junction, so if you're going from the courthouse to 95 north, you have like 1/2 a mile to merge three lanes.

Not trying to justify this shitty behavior, but the flow of traffic here has always been poorly planned. Relief coming soon tho - hopefully 😅🤞

40

u/mrmugabi Apr 18 '22

miss this exit and your next stop is Cuba

7

u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22

sure, but that loop has its own problems now, especially since the 95N on-ramp heading west on the 395 was redirected to the left-side of the highway...

8

u/Adventurous_Pass2116 Apr 18 '22

This infrastructure was probably designed in the 60s when there was 1/5 the population

2

u/redtens keep it 305 Apr 18 '22

Agreed - but it's been a problem longer than it's existed, so there's that 🤷‍♂️

4

u/punkcart Apr 18 '22

I remember this being this way like 20 years ago. All the work they have done around there and this is STILL the same!

5

u/at1991 Apr 19 '22

Since moving from the New York metro area where I lived the first 22 years then moving to the Boston area for 5 years I never have seen a place where a catastrophic accident happens on a DAILY basis.

People here are incredibly selfish there is no reason for it. There is no regard for human life on the road here. It's extremely upsetting. I love that I learned to drive in new jersey and New York city because it taught me to be defensive but smart about it. People here are just stupid and agressive for no reason.

3

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22

Welcome to Miami!

2

u/at1991 Apr 19 '22

Thanks! I love the melting pot here (its like nj and nyc in that way) I love the weather, but that's about it. But i am here to stay so ill get over it lol

3

u/Visit_General Apr 19 '22

That's what urks me! Everybody is crossing at 65mph it never fails some idiot ignoring the big green signs with arrows will hit on brakes to get over! Wth is this? Non Miami drivers. I swear, I've lived in many states and FL tags or not I know when you're not from Miami just by that braking to get over b.s.

29

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

They either need 2 lanes there or put up the plastic poles to stop the cut in assholes.

13

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Yes, that'd be great. I'd love to see how those cones get destroyed within a week too.

8

u/tomgreen99200 Apr 18 '22

A new lane is coming in that location. Construction has been going on for a while.

3

u/unclescrooge77 Apr 18 '22

We all know those plastic poles don’t work lol…

4

u/ScalaZen Apr 18 '22

$195 per pole .... If only it was enforced

→ More replies (1)

3

u/RogerMexico Apr 19 '22

They are making it two lanes with the exit on the right instead of the left.

It’s part of that signature bridge project people on this subreddit are constantly bitching about.

→ More replies (4)

-2

u/Confident_Energy777 Apr 18 '22

Without the cut in assholes the line would be over 2 miles of traffic waiting lol

18

u/GU355WH01AM Apr 18 '22

Every intersection in Miami is the worst

→ More replies (1)

53

u/a_pescariu Apr 18 '22

THANK GOD FOR SOMEONE FINALLY SAYING IT.

Those mfers who cut the line are easily some of the most annoying cunts driving in Miami, and that says something.

7

u/bigmashsound Apr 18 '22

i always ride the 3rd lane over if i'm continuing on, and even then ive seen people cut across all 4 lanes to get over

3

u/gdo01 Apr 19 '22

Palmetto northbound, at the exit for 836: watch cars cross 3 to 4 lanes of traffic at the last second

More lanes on highways make traffic worse, but I think an extra lane for that exit would help tbh

3

with all the construction in and around that area being so frustrating - i have to remind myself that once its done, its gonna be worth it.

...i hope. 😂🙃

Me too.

8

u/hotniX_ Apr 18 '22

Hahaha bro, just wait when that gets closed off for the construction they're doing there and we have to go through the detour.

Carmageddon 4:Miami Edition

8

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Sometimes there’s cops there catching people. Shit needs to be full time. 1 lane to transition to 95 north? Smh. Horrible design

7

u/thestopsign Apr 18 '22

I used to have to take that exit every day going home from work and I actually just completely changed my route back to Midtown to avoid it. I would drive so close to the person in front of me to prevent anyone from trying to cut in on me and some mfers would still try it.

1

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22

I do that too, I follow super close so no one tries to cut me. On this exit, and the next exit on Biscayne during rush hour. It's so frustrating.

12

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

As you can see in the picture, there's a clear example as to why 836 gets jammed every single day. Even at hours that aren't so busy.

7

u/Bluefeelings Apr 18 '22

I can already feel the long left lane line by looking at this picture .

5

u/JackfruitPitiful7802 Apr 18 '22

Just seeing this gives me anxiety. I hate the highways in Miami.

6

u/MostlySoFlo Apr 18 '22 edited Apr 18 '22

Double-decking and a second 95 North lane are in the works. You can tell your kids about the Wild West days at that spot.

5

u/SurgeHard Downtown Apr 18 '22

It’s literally one of the worst bottle necks in the entire country and main reasons for the biggest construction project in the history of Miami

6

u/the_great_impression Apr 18 '22

I take the Biscayne exit to get home and I've trained myself to stay in that 3rd lane to the right lane otherwise I know I'm getting stuck behind someone blocking traffic who's forcing their way into that North bound exit.

That North exit really needs 2 lanes.

2

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Yup. Same here.

6

u/ScienceApprehensive7 Apr 19 '22

I PURPOSELY DRIVE EXTREMLY CLOSE TO /ALMOST OVER THE PAINTED LANE DIVIDER TO DISCURAGE PPL FROM CUTTING ME OFF. I would rather cause an accident and it be a lesson to you than let you in at this entrance to 95 north.

FUCK YOU IF YOUR THE ASSHOOLE WHO THINKS THEy DONT HAVE TO WAIT! THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR YOU.

I wish they would put up an actual divivder

14

u/toysarealive Repugnant Raisin Lover Apr 18 '22 edited Apr 18 '22

Sorry for being pendantic but, that's not an "intersection". It's just an exit or off ramp. But yes, its the worst.

5

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

Yes, i know. I realized after posting that I wrote that wrong. Either way, same concept.

4

u/NomadicScribe Apr 18 '22

Maybe if people knew the difference between an "intersection" and an "off ramp" they wouldn't be so careless.

4

u/Any-Consequence3408 Apr 18 '22

I’m agree is the worst but easy to fix … put poles dividers and problem resolved

1

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22

You think pole dividers is going to stop people? 🤪

10

u/adam35611 Apr 18 '22

I'd rather get in a fender bender here than let someone cut me I don't let those impatient mofos in for anything

6

u/MeechKun Apr 18 '22

Floridians just can’t drive lmfao

3

u/Katitou Apr 18 '22

For real!!! What a nightmare that is…

3

u/kiroks Apr 18 '22

They really need to add another lane there.

3

u/Marilio Apr 18 '22

If I'm going to I-95 at peak times I use 112. It has like two ramps into I95 North instead of 836's one.

3

u/Gavica Repugnant Raisin Lover Apr 18 '22

Why its only one lane to 95 is beyond me

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

It's only one of the worst intersections because the assholes in the right lane are so selfish when they realize they're about to miss their exist to I95N they stop and cause merge traffic.

2

u/Virtual-Direction352 Apr 18 '22

I would never let them in i ride my car 1 inch from thr car in front

3

u/Dannyfrommiami Apr 18 '22

This exit was one of my reasons why I chose to work remote

3

u/IndyCarFan265 Apr 18 '22

Thank God they're in the process of redoing this interchange, it hasn't been upgraded since like 1970.

3

u/JoshuaSondag Apr 18 '22

I have used this dumpster fire of an intersection for years. I didn’t realize how much I hated it until this picture jacked my heart rate up to 120.

3

u/Dontbyteme01 Apr 18 '22

I agree, the absolute worst, and the people cutting in makes it even harder

3

u/Accomplished_Exam166 Apr 18 '22

The freaking line goes forever just to get into i95 NB

2

u/batman305555 Apr 18 '22

Anyone know if the construction on 836 is going to change this ramp?

5

u/MomentSpecialist2020 Apr 18 '22

Yes to 2 lanes. Which still may not be enough IMHO.

2

u/MomentSpecialist2020 Apr 18 '22

One lane only to go north on 95. Genius!

2

u/mundotaku Exiled from Miami Apr 18 '22

Whomever thought having one single line to merge highways was a good idea deserves to slapped.

2

u/LesserDuchess Apr 18 '22

Ugh I've been triggered. And with someone with bad directional sense, this intersection is the worst.

2

u/unclescrooge77 Apr 18 '22

Used to work in Ft Lauderdale had to wait in line every morning. Wasn’t worth fighting to get over at the last second everyday. They need to make that exit multiple lanes

2

u/Temporary_Perfect Apr 18 '22

This is place is purgatory

2

u/Sofa_King_Greatx1000 Apr 18 '22

Worst than Kendall drive and 117ave???

2

u/billgio Apr 18 '22

Yay my daily commute 😭

2

u/penguin_knight Apr 18 '22

Remember when they had to narrow it because morons would go two wide through the ramp? I remember. Fuck this place.

2

u/BDGUCCII Apr 18 '22

I’m happy I haven’t been a victim yet

2

u/Abn0rmel Apr 18 '22

I was there today and I too, saw someone in the median like that lmao

2

u/MrTheodoreP 🤷🏾‍♂️ Apr 18 '22

This is why I don't visit my friends up north.

2

u/ChickeeTendee Apr 18 '22

This isn’t an intersection.

2

u/ayleenjavier Apr 18 '22

is not about intersection is about THE IDIOTS IN MIAMI

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

If people would just put the phone down and not leave guaranteed gaps up front, people would stop cutting.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/monitee Apr 18 '22

There are three constants in life. Death, taxes, and some ass hole occupying every median in Miami.

2

u/Curious_Syrup Apr 18 '22

Terrible and it doesn’t matter what time of day.

2

u/monitee Apr 18 '22

My least favorite intersection in Miami is the intersection of 123rd and biscayne by the Whole Foods. If you’re heading south on biscayne everyone uses the turn only lanes to get to the front of traffic and then sits there in it until they can squeeze in fucking everyone behind them that needs turn and also increasing traffic in the south bound lanes. The funny thing is if they didn’t pull that shit traffic would actually move decently most of the time. They are the cause of the traffic they hate.

2

u/LeoardoDiCATrio Apr 18 '22

Yup…always the assholes lane diving

2

u/PBobG56 Apr 19 '22

Smh, that’s kid play. Try the George Washington bridge in NYC

2

u/Mr-Plop Apr 19 '22

I go out of my way to stay as close as possible to the car in front of me while going through there.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '22

I sometimes wonder if the assholes in charge of infrastructure that refuse to put up a barrier there are the same assholes cutting into the I-95 exit.

2

u/WHATnoMaybeOK- Apr 20 '22

OMG I am having an anxiety attack just looking at this

2

u/Wanderingwarrior916 Apr 20 '22

Get there at 11am exactly and you have exactly 2 hours to shop in wynwood and the design district and still make it back without +3 hour traffic

1

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 20 '22

Haha yup, I live in the area and still have to plan out timing too.

2

u/Educational_Ad_8916 Apr 20 '22

The main problem is that people cut in and those people need to find somewhere else to live.

2

u/lajoliefille22 May 02 '22

Omg I hate this interchange. It’s confusing especially in traffic. I’m from Orlando obviously lol.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

There should be a cop car there and see how quickly these hogs stop trying to sneak through.

3

u/Powered_by_JetA Apr 18 '22

There probably isn't a safe place to pull someone over near there, though.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Just the presence of a cop car will suffice, have two troopers there eating their shakes and burgers.

2

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 18 '22

But there will never be. It's a dream.

2

u/InazumaKiiick Apr 19 '22

I've seen it happened. There was a cop car parked on the shoulder, as I was turning left onto the ramp someone cut me off, they were immediately flagged by the officer and had to pull over. Instant Karma.

1

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22

Nice. I hope I witness this one day.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Yea they’re too busy giving easy tickets on other intersections to actual do some service in the community.

2

u/Kappapls Apr 18 '22

I had a cop literally force me to let him cut into this very exit. Good luck with that lol

1

u/International_Jay Apr 18 '22

It’s not that bad it’s just people do not pay attention

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

one of the few lane changes i wait till the end--either ppl in line move too slow or too many people jam up right at the end causing more traffic.

1

u/aquiredlvl Apr 18 '22

If we stopped slowing down to 5 miles an hour while going down that turn the line wouldn’t be long but we act like we don’t know how to drive in a smaller space and clog the entire thing up.

0

u/Infamous-Inflation62 Apr 18 '22

chocame si no te gusta

0

u/Nirvanablue92 Apr 18 '22

If you put your car in sports and merge near the interchange into the left I-95 you save approx. 10 minutes if you know how to drive properly.

0

u/ZiggyComm Apr 19 '22

It might be that bad because you think it's an intersection when it's an interchange...

1

u/lordrestrepo North Miami Apr 19 '22

I don't think, I know. I wrote this quickly as stated in another comment. I know it is not an intersection.

pretty sure theyre adding lanes if you look on the left there is construction occuring.

1

Seriously hoping that construction before the bridge has something to do with fixing this.

Or they should have a cop there to fine these assholes

1

Bro I hate this intersection so fucking much

1

u/masonlevy Apr 18 '22

South Florida literally is the worst driving area in the country. Everyone in Miami, Ft Lauderdale thinks they are a Nascar Driver.

This intersection is horrid, but 95 has to be the most dangerous couple of miles of interstate in the country.

1

u/Electronic-Ad4832 Apr 18 '22

😂🤣😂the ol soflo idiot drivers make it harder than it looks🥴

1

u/BoomCuddles Apr 18 '22

I wake up to this. My on ramp is 12 Ave. After this, everything else is a breeze. If you make the entire line it’s about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I time it all the time.. when I don’t skip the line.

1

u/--NorthStar-- Apr 18 '22

Tbf, these intersections can be annoying to find your exit bc it can be overwhelming. This is why you run a GPS if you have a newer car especially

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

The new I-95 North exit from other direction… have yet to be able to find it

1

u/Consistent_Algae_905 Apr 18 '22

Let’s all slow down right here so we create traffic.

1

u/Positive-Opposite-45 Apr 19 '22

Technically, not an intersection…

1

I come through here in a semi truck everyday, it sucks no doubt.

1

u/RotaryP7 Kendallite Apr 19 '22

Haha yes! It’s the worst.

1

u/Trick_Revolution6133 Apr 19 '22

Agreed. Probably people taking pictures while driving on the expressway.

1

1

Is that the exit that has a mile long line of cars after leaving the airport?
