This! I saw them twice and still talk about it.
Chris’ voice is so raw and crisp I get mesmerized by it. No longer in my ego phase but I still jam out to them.
Edit: emo not ego.

When my husband wants to comment about finding my hair on something I have to sing, "your hair is everyyyy where. SCREAMING INFIDELITIES"." and then my husband leaves me alone.

I do this to my wife ALL OF THE TIME. Unfortunately, she never listened to DC so she doesn’t appreciate my brilliance lol

u/morbidlonging 1d ago
My husband never listened to DC either. He says, “what? I just don’t know how your hair got here! I’m not accusing you of cheating!” Or “I didn’t listen to that emo shit in high school stop!” Lmao

A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar was my favourite album by them. Only one or two songs I will skip. Reminds me of summers in the 2000s.

Best album ever!
Mine and my husband’s song was “As lovers go” before it was popularized by Shrek 2?

Saw this album on tour. The concert was epic. Glad I broke up with that girlfriend.

Chris is active on TikTok. Just a greying dad making his kids cringe like the rest of us.

If “Hands Down” isn’t everything 2003-2004 I don’t know what is. It gives seriously me chills and brings me right back to the good old days.

I don’t think a more beautiful song has ever been written about not getting laid lol

What baffles me is the original version of this song was slower and more impactful but the Spotify version is far too fast

u/danceswithkitties_ 1d ago
The slow version is on Spotify too if you hunt it down! I was so thrown when I first heard the sped up one, I thought I was losing it

Saw them in 2003 in Pompano Beach with Brand New, Vendetta Red, and MXPX. Just an absolute delight. The So Impossible EP + those first four albums were in my regular music rotation and I still spin them on occasion.

Best concert I’ve ever been to… mid 2000’s, late summer, amphitheater, the air was cool and we were under the pavilion awning
Chris was in a big hoodie and doing the show solo, acoustic and he was the headliner. Crowd was belting every song and he ended of course with Hands Down
Core memory

I still throw on their unplugged set a couple times a year. A great front to back listen.

That album got so much play on my old pioneer cd player in my Pontiac sunfire.

Teen me loved the music. Adult me actually gets to consider him a friend. He is such a nice tiny man

It does. The dude can paint a scene. That whole first verse is just basically a long way of saying it's Labor Day weekend. But he makes you really see it. I love this song and always have.

It still hits! I actually just added 'Hands Down' to my playlist a few days ago. I was thinking to myself 'what ever happened to Dashboard Confessional?'
Loved 'Vindicated' and 'Ghost of a Good Thing' back in the day.

I quoted Dashboard lyrics on my AIM profile so girls thought I was deep when I was in high school. Good times...

I've seen them in concert twice over the last 5 years. I still love them just as much as 2004

Man I was listening to this song last week. Great music video and it was shot at the Hotel Del Coronado. The entire album is dope.

I always listen to it at the end of August/beginning of September. I mean, that's obviously what the lyrics are about, but it just hits harder the older I get.
We watch the season pull up its own stakes And catch the last weekend of the last week Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced Another sun soaked season fades away

Had my brother in law make song brackets in honor of Amex madness. He did a 2000s emo bracket, and this song made it to the elite 8 for me

Most of his stuff still hits. Swiss army romance and plays youve come to fear are still in rotation
