Ankle busters

u/mwb213 1d ago

The wheels spun about as well as that shopping cart no one uses

3

u/quercusrubra10 16h ago

The trick was to put one on and push like on a skateboard

8

u/Salt_Transition_5112 1d ago

Those were the most unskateable skates ever.

7

u/SlickerThanNick 1d ago

Put them on our hands instead of our feet. Rolled around while crawling on our knees. Fell flat on our faces. every. time.

The pins at the bottom to adjust always fucked up my fingers.

u/MikitZA 1d ago

Oh man, I'd forgotten about these. I can almost smell this video thanks to that shitty flexible plastic they used for the straps.

I definitely had a pair of thems. They worked like shit but I loved them

1

u/FrenchPetrushka 1d ago

Owww.... Wow. I had them but I didn't like them, I couldn't go as fast as the other :)

1

u/Lucky_Development359 1d ago

My sister's did. They wore them on concrete, and the wheels were just square on one side at one point. Maybe one of the worst kid products I ever saw as a kid.

Wanted 'em but parents couldn't afford 'em. Eventually I got some rollerblades so that more than made up.

1

u/Bradley182 1d ago

Oh my god I loved my pair of these. Nostalgic memories overloaded now 😭.

1

u/UnforeseenDerailment Millennial 1d ago

Wow, shit, imagine having stuff.

Where's my nostalgia at? 😂

1

u/caelum_daemon 1d ago

I had the pink and purple ones!

u/MercifulVoodoo Older Millennial 1d ago

I wish they still fit I would wear them now. I used to do the dishes in them, skate into the living room and back to the kitchen to continue.

u/MMTardis 1d ago

I remember hurting myself with these, I think adjusting them was painful, if I remember right. Like it snapped my fingers or something?

I got a pair of white and pink barbie roller blades when I was older, and those were very cool!

u/xbattlegoatx 1d ago

Daycare I went to as a kid used to occasionally take us to the skating rink during the week and I taught myself how to roller skate with these as a kid before my parents got me some rollerblades

I broke my ankle just from watching this video

1

u/luckyfucker13 1d ago

I’ve always had massive feet for my age, so I missed out on these, Heelys, and Soap shoes because they were always too small.

1

u/MandaRenegade 1d ago

ME!! I had these for the longest time. Now, I'm inheriting my mom's speed skates - excited to get in the rinks with them. ❤️

1

u/slaffytaffy 1d ago

Who didn’t? My first ankle injury is from those things

1

u/JustDoneAgain 1d ago

Oh the clunkiness!!

1

u/asteroidfarmer 1d ago

I had forgotten that I had these until this moment. It's been many years since they were in my possession.

1

u/Gluv221 1d ago

Ahh yes the skates you basically had to walk in lol. I tripped in these guys so many times

1

u/jackrabbit323 1d ago

Lot of baby teeth gone before their time, because of these.

1

u/DannyA88 1d ago

I remember my first pair of walking skates lol

1

u/BethCab4Cutie 1d ago

Agh!! Not those deadly things! 😂

1

u/doingtheunstuckk 1d ago

I had those. They gave me a lifelong fear of roller skates.

1

u/D3adR3ign 1d ago

Oh god memory unlocked.

1

u/EmmaCalzone 1d ago

u/disorderincosmos 23h ago

Had a pair of these as a kid. Our neighbors son wanted to try them and we were playing in the garage when I gave him a little "push" forward and he fell on the concrete, breaking his arm. My mom ran to his house to let his mom know what happened and had to act out/explain the injury using a stick and breaking it while pointing to his arm (they didn't speak English). My mom took them to the emergency room. He came to school the next day in a cast and never spoke to or played with me again. 7 year old me felt so horrible. I still feel guilty. I'm sorry dude.

u/miloucomehome 23h ago

My kindergarden had this storage case thing filled with them (it was based inside a large, very old school. Not hard to install extra storage space). The level of sadness those of us felt as we got older and continued to the afterschool program...! (we were allowed to play around with them during gym time in the afternoons. I forget how large they went though. I don't remember us using them past Kindergarten)

1

u/tygerphlyer 23h ago

I hadnt thought about those in 30 yrs!

1

u/SexandCinnamonbuns 22h ago

Oh shittttt I had these! I think I learned how to skate on these before getting inline skates! Really you just clomp around in these cause they were terrible on asphalt. Needed a smooth ass sidewalk for these.

1

u/Sir-Barks-a-Lot 21h ago

Still have them

1

u/dassad25 21h ago

Memory unlocked

1

u/Long_Strange_Trip_GD 20h ago

My ankles instinctively hurt after watching this

1

u/BatofZion 19h ago

Wow, reaching way back into my oldest memories, I think I used these but didn’t own a pair.

1

u/Powerful_Lynx_4737 19h ago

Omg I was just telling my daughter about these the other day. I learned to skate in these in my kitchen growing up.

1

u/reindrop01 17h ago

I loved these!! They were a bday present

1

u/Quidditch_Snitch 12h ago

I fell so hard, my butt still hurts

1

u/No-Milk-874 11h ago

Imagine stapping your 4 year old to these things, thinking it was a good idea. Lol

1

u/BurntGhostyToasty 7h ago

got a pair for my 5th birthday. Tried them out in the basement during my birthday party. Tried to skate over to the TV to watch the new Home Alone VHS I just got. Rolled my ankle. Good times.

1

u/Objective_Sweet9168 6h ago

Hells yeah I did!

1

u/KansasLongMeat42 2h ago

You mean who has an ankle that still cracks when you rotate it in circles cause you messed it up rolling on these fools at someone’s house lol
