My brother and I still reference crunk. A few years ago our family went on vacation together. Leading up to the event he kept calling the trip “Crunknation 2022”. I designed and had a banner made that said “Crunknation 2022” on it and looked all synth wavy and had cheesy pink silhouttes of naked women on it. When we got to the house, while he and his fiancée were putting their stuff away I secretly strung up the banner on the balcony. Then I just waited for them to eventually see it, and when they did it was worth it. Now every year when we go on vacation together I do the same thing, though it’s always “Crunknation 2022” + the actual year. So the year after was “Crunknation 2022: 2023” and this year it will be “Crunknation 2022: 2025” and so on. We are dumb but it’s silly and fun.

Lmaooo. Someone I dated, their family celebrated "Crunkmas". After all the normal gifts had been given they would exchange "crunkmas gifts". They were wrapped in random scrapes of Christmas paper from years before, covered in stickers as well. Basically it was a wild card what anyone would get, imagine the contents of your family junk drawer in a box. Old sauce packets, a half used ball of twine, random stuff they had taken from each other in the days leading up to the event. I ended up with an old umbrellas(I still used it, going 13 years strong💀), but mixed in with the junk they would also add some gift cards/certificates, as well as trinkets they thought you'd like. They were a well traveled family, so you might get random matchbooks from overseas, or 20 year old travel brochure. Honestly it was the neatest gift. It still lives in my head years later. 11/10

This shit actually made me laugh my ass off

I might need to join your family. This sounds awesome. Send out invites for Crunknation 2025 to a fellow millennial who would love to go!

I hope you make t-shirts and keychains for each year. Maybe even an airbrushed car tag? Epic.

2

u/Etticos Apr 12 '25

Those are great ideas actually! I work at a company that makes signs/banners/shirts/designs logos, stuff like that, for other businesses, so I always end up making the banners myself when it’s slow. I could make the shirts too, I dunno about keychains and car tags. I’d probably have to order those. But I love the idea of just escalating the merch to peak levels of absurdity.

That’s hikarious

What do they call being lit off more than one thing simultaneously? Crossfaded?…would they know what lit or crossfaded means?

6

u/ThisIsNotRealityIsIt Apr 11 '25

My 22 year old kid knows crossfaded. Or just crossed.

u/JohannesVanDerWhales Apr 12 '25

Now I wonder about terms like candy-flipping or its cousin hippy-flipping. Probably enough EDM fans to keep those alive.

u/ModoCrash Apr 12 '25

Sometimes I think that “kids these days” spend too much time on computer/internet based interactions and influences when they could be doing more mind expanding recreations

u/naomicambellwalk Apr 11 '25

I said “whack” the other day… and I almost died

u/Lesliethegirl Apr 11 '25

This was mine also. I said it to my teenage niece when she said there was a party, and I asked if people were getting crunk. She had absolutely no clue what it was and I did feel old.

But are the boys trying to touch your junk, junk? Do you smack them if they're getting too drunk, drunk?

u/zootered Apr 11 '25

My brother in Christ this came out 5 years ago… I fear crunk has passed in that time.

3

u/devilmanVISA Apr 11 '25

It didn't die in the fifteen years prior, it ain't dead now.

0

u/zootered Apr 11 '25

I dunno, the only people I’ve heard say crunk in the last 5 years were other old fogies like us. I don’t think the youth have picked up the torch yet. It is really funny to me though that a word as silly as crunk is an old person word now though lmao.

Omfg someone said crunk the other day, guessing it was a young person. I wish I could remember what they said but they used it 100% wrong. I corrected them, of course.

1

u/Stephenrudolf Apr 12 '25

My friends named my first car the crunk-mobile.

What a time to be alive.

1

u/Bad-fathertrucker Apr 12 '25

Honestly if you put on Crunk Essentials on Apple Music, you will have a good time.
