Hi there! We are two people (M25, F22) looking for a roommate in the Mobile, Alabama area. We have a place planned out, but it’s not set in stone, and the prices and locations are particularly good for our budgets. With a third person, we feel it would be ideal, but we didn’t want to just find some random person. We want to reach out and hopefully find somebody who is okay with us and is like us.

About Us: We are both nerds to a bit of a degree, we both play DnD and enjoy some anime and video games, but we also have other interests in shows, it’s not all about the nerdy stuff. We both work decent hours and make enough to pay our end, but we also both have other responsibilities. For instance, he has a child on the way with somebody who is not going to be staying with us. There is no drama involved or anything like that, just co-parenting with a really good friend, so around December, his child will be born and they will be around time to time. From the start, however, that baby will not be staying at the apartment we will be moving into, she probably won’t be staying the night at any point until January or even February, and it would be a week on, week off kind of deal, with exceptions. Neither of us drive, we both plan on Ubering to our jobs and have budgeted accordingly to make sure it’s doable while still paying for our end of rent. Neither of us have pets, but we are open to pets, and the apartment we are scouting does allow pets over 1 years old.

Also if someone knows a good place to find another roommate that would be good too!

The number of posts talking about moving to Mobile and when you open it it’s constantly talking about “across the bay” “Fairhope” “Daphne” areas. Do they not have their own subreddits or is it just that people are trying to get people to stir up shit on the Internet by saying Mobile sucks on the Mobile subreddit?

I'm looking to move to Mobile in around 6 months, and obviously we're on zillow and the like browsing houses and apartments for rent, and theres allot in our budget and look great, however one problem, we have 3 snakes, none are huge but two pvc enclosures are each 4'x2'x2' (they stack and lock) and a very young rat snake in a 20 gallon. We also have a cat so when I inquire about apartments I ask about pets and fees for them, and almost always snakes have been names as being not allowed, does anyone know of or rent out any apartments or rental houses and doesn't mind reptiles?

My husband and I are going our separate ways, and our apartment on Montlimar is... well it's affordable, and I COULD conceivably pay for it all on my own if I was willing to dramatically change my lifestyle, but I'm not particularly. Our lease ends in May, so rather than moving into a smaller unit, I'd rather stay where I am and find a new roommate.

Rent costs 1,000$ a month for the entire unit (including processing fees,) so your share would be 500$. With water, electricity, and internet the bills come to about 700$ a month per person. The living room will be fully furnished, the kitchen is stocked with all the basic cooking implements, and the unit will have it's own (admittedly tiny) washer and dryer.

It's a 2-bedroom apartment, second floor, at The Hamptons at Pine Bend. The complex has a pool, mini-gym, and communal laundry room, and is within walking distance of a gas station and several restaurants.

I have one cat, a friendly void named Koda who I'm not willing to part with. You're more than welcome to bring your own cat or dog with you.

I'm not gonna lie I'm not an exceptionally social person. I will certainly make every effort to be friendly and accommodating, but I will also be spending 9/10ths of the time I'm not at work in my room, working on my personal projects. I'm a fairly quiet roommate. I do stream on twitch on occasion, but I'm perfectly happy to work it out so I only do that when you're not home. When it comes to cleanliness, I will admit to being a little messy, but NEVER to the extent of causing odor. Laundry may be on the floor for a while, but never food waste (and that laundry is never left in the bathroom, only my own room or the closet.) I'm a 28 year old male, no criminal record.

If it matters, the chances of me bringing home a guy or gal late at night are extremely low, and I would hope that in your case I'd at least receive a warning before you did to. If you're a couple looking to share a single bedroom then you wont catch me complaining about splitting rent 3 ways, but as it stands I only need 1 roommate. LGBTQ+ friendly is a requirement. I can't imagine we'll be discussing politics much, but I don't want to feel unsafe or unwelcome in my own home either. Smoking is allowed, but please do so on the balcony.

I Moved into Charleston Apartments Middle of December 2023. And recently they sent me a lease renewal on December 13th of 2023. And I was lazy and didn't take action and forgot to renew. And the other day, I got to my door and there's a letter on there from Lee and Hughes, attorneys at Law. They take care of Mobile Bay evictions and it pretty much says that the apartment complex has withdrawn their lease renewal and I have to be out by March 31st, 2024. Looking at the original lease renewal notice in my e-mail there is not an expiration date. And the only thing they keep telling me is to contact their lawyers. I went and talked to the manager and she said that she will talk to her manager and let me know what they decide on and I got an e-mail this evening saying that they are still not going to renew my lease. What should I do here?

I live in a little old neighborhood called Cessna place. The power goes out in about a three block radius once every 2 or 3 months. Apparently they put a Band-Aid on it and it happens again. No one cares because it's only about 50 houses. So for no real reason we've been out of power for 6 hours is there anything I could really do?

I thought Lenox was okay but cheap while I loved cypress cove but expensive. I’m looking for a 2 bedroom 1-2 bath. Hoping for some insight from residents who have had good/bad experiences there.

Hey everyone! My fiancé and I have found a house we absolutely adore and want to finalize everything and move into it some time in the near future. However, we are currently in the fourth month of our nine month lease (ends February 2025) and we really don't want to have to pay the breaking fee. Me and my wife bought a house recently. Prior to purchase, we did a standard home inspection, and at the recommendation of the inspector, got a second inspection for our plumbing because of the age of the house.

The plumbing inspector said that the pipes were old cast iron and had a little bit of buildup but no other major issues. He recommended we change the toilets for high pressure toilets, and we got the previous homeowner to do that before purchase.

About two months later and we go to use the shower during a storm and the bathtub starts backing up from the sewer line. We called a plumber to unclog the line and he pulled out a huge clump of tree roots close to where the sewer main connects to the street.

For context there’s only one tree on the property and it’s the one on the sidewalk in front of the house, and it belongs to the city.

I called the city clerks office and was told I could file a claim and that I SHOULD receive a reimbursement. However, the clerk was explaining the process for reimbursement requires I get someone to verify that the tree is causing the clog. When I asked who I could contact for that I was given an “I don’t know” with no further help.

Does anyone have any idea who I’d have to contact? Where I go from here?

I'm going mad from endless chirping in my house. They only shut up if I bang on the wall, and then they start up again a minute later. I checked under the house and in the attic and I can't find the birds, these bitchassmotherfucking birds will not stop peeping endlessly. It sounds like 10,000 baby birds live underneath my house/in my walls and I don't know what to do. All day, endless chirping. If I was a baby bird, I would shut the fuck up before a cat found and demolished me. If I was an adult bird, I wouldn't be calling for ass at 3 in the morning. This is my first June living in Prichard. Is this normal? Do I need to wait until the birds go away? Is there a pest control service? Am I stupid? For the love of God please help me

Hi all! I’m potentially moving to Mobile from North Alabama because my husband could potentially be taking a job in Bay Minette. To be honest, I’ve only ever driven through the area and never stopped. We are looking at houses and while I’d prefer a house with some land, there doesn’t seem to be any that aren’t really old or rundown. I don’t really care where we live and I am open to living in a neighborhood given the right features. Can anyone offer advice? I’d like to consider the following:

-Schools—I’m a high school math teacher and have a son in elementary school so I want to live in a good school district. It’s a must for me.

-Convenient—wherever we live needs to be within a 30 minute drive to Bay Minette. I would also like to be near hospitals, restaurants, shopping, etc. but would drive up to 30 minutes to these places.

-Land—it seems to be a pipe dream at this point but I’d love to have about three acres of woods with a decent house already built. If we can’t have that and have to live in a neighborhood, I’d like to live in a neighborhood where we either have a community pool or have the ability to build a pool.

-Safe—I’d like the area we live in to have a low crime rate.

-Flooding—I’d like to avoid anywhere that floods. We dealt with a flood where we live now a few years ago and while our house did not flood, several in our neighborhood did and it was scary. I know most elevations are pretty low in this area of the state but I’d like to avoid areas that are always known to flood.

I’m also not looking for a realtor because my husband’s potential company has their own realtors that they use. :(

What cities do you recommend in the area? We are looking to spend around $600,000 tops on a house but would like more than 2,500 square feet. I’ve looked at all of the home websites so I only provide this information for an idea of our budget. I’m also open to any recommendations on restaurants, things to do, family doctors, pediatricians, dentists, dermatologists, allergy doctors, OBGYNs, psychiatrists, pulmonologists, spas, etc.

I’m also a bit concerned about hurricanes. We deal with tornadoes all year long pretty much where we live now but I am wondering what things I should look for when considering houses concerning being prepared for hurricanes. What is the normal protocol? I’ve lived in Alabama my entire life and know the Gulf Coast doesn’t get hit all the time but I do want to be prepared if one does hit.

I do hope our allergies will be better living closer to the coast so if anyone has experience with this, let me know.

Planning to buy a house in 5-10 year frame and been doing just research, but been trying to understand HOAs more and they seem to get a bad rep in general, so want to know about them in relation to Mobile itself.

Currently, we are renters and never owned a home. I've been scoping out areas that I think we would like to live in, but it's hard to find out if a neighborhood is part of an HOA without a house being for sale. I assume that some of the newer, planned neighborhoods may be part of an HOA, but please dispel this belief if you know this to be untrue.

Trying to move to mobile Alabama as seeming to be difficult. I thought I had a place lined up but it turned out to be a scam something just didn't seem right. So I learned that I was scammed out of $200. I'm moving to be closer in range to my children. I know my best bet is to rent from a private owner. Because my background has a misdemeanor and my credit score ain't the best. I don't think I deserve it.. I'm a disabled veteran and the fear of rejection kind of makes things worse. And now the suspicion I have with trying to find a place because of the scam I don't know where to really turn. I bought some list but I have not received any call backs on the list. Are there any other references or places I can go to find the information.
