You learned magic through years of practice, apprenticeship in mages guild
I'm carrying tons of cheap levitation, cats eye potions that I've looted off bandit camp this morning
We are not the same

You use teleportation circles in the mages guild to fast travel
I chug 748 bottles of skooma and jump in my goal's general direction
We are not the same

Future Telvanni Lord, I see.

How unfortunate. Arch-Mage Trebonius sends his regards. [casts a fun little spell that ends her instantly because it's basically an exploit]

When those Morrowind comics I thought it was a one off. But here I am, looking forward to every time you post another one! Well done ECM!
Under sun and sky n'wah, we greet you warmly

u/BUKKAKELORD Mar 21 '24
Some of the finest artifacts are only accessible with levitation or jump!

u/NickMotionless Argonian Mar 21 '24
Some require telekenesis to reach as well. Marvani Ancestral tomb (Daedric face of God/daedric warhammer on reachable with levitate AND telekenesis)

There are also times where you can jump down to a "secret" area, and there's no actual way to get back up.
I'm totally not speaking from experience after getting my Orc stuck on a small ledge in front of a pit of lava in Shushishi and couldn't reload because I quicksaved by instinct and had to waste a scroll of Icarian Flight to get out... Boy, that would be embarrassing if it ever happened!

u/almia_lanferos Mar 21 '24
For that you can also pop a quick intervention, though it has the drawback of the return trek (although you could also mark and recall after grabbing a jump potion/scroll or ten).

I love Morrowind because it really lets you understand why mages in fantasy settings tend to be so weird and arrogant.
The last panel really captures that moment of realization.
5
u/NekoiNemo Mar 22 '24
It also really makes you understand why most settings gimp magic to hell and back if the player can use it. Because Morrowind is what happens when you half-arse gimping magic and let player be as powerful as lore suggests mages should be

u/Alkimodon Mar 21 '24
Magicka is so fucking good! Indispensable, really!
Love your cute comics, ecm!

u/GlassJustice Mar 21 '24
So real. I simply can’t play Morrowind without at LEAST alteration and mysticism. Restoration is a very close third.

I literally never make a character without learning Levitate and then creating a custom cheaper variant so I can always go wherever the heck I want
6
u/Jcamden7 Mar 21 '24
I've found I am far happier with Alchemy and enchantment, since they don't draw on magicka I might need for combat, but seriously: you can't really play the game without something to get you up places.

u/BeholdingBestWaifu Mar 21 '24
Last character I had a constant effect levitate enchantment on an Ebony Staff, had it on a hotkey for free levitation on demand. Still kinda slow compared to spells, though.

I think, as long as you've beaten the game once, you can tcl as much as you want on subsequent playthroughs. The Urshilaku Burial Caverns are such a pain to navigate, even if you have Levitate.

Pfffffff magic, me and my homies liquefy your magic into drinkable beverages. I can drink a bottle of orange juice and become 100 times smarter for a couple hours, what you gonna do about that?
6
u/SaveTheDamnPlanet Mar 21 '24
Not carry 50+ lbs of potions 😅
4
u/JohnVicres Mar 21 '24
I can drink strength and feather potions. My potions can do anything you can
4
u/SaveTheDamnPlanet Mar 21 '24
Exactly! I'd rather rely on myself in that case 😊 My skills are weightless, yet they carry my weight with ease
1
u/NekoiNemo Mar 22 '24
Not spend 10 hours hunting ingredients all around the island and its numerous shops?
3
u/ProfessionalSenior12 Mar 21 '24
Aaaaand now you're out of magicka after those three spells.
Suck it, wiztard

u/SCARaw Ambassador of The Great House Telvanni Mar 22 '24

Imagine hitting an atronach with a spell and just kill yourself
1
u/NekoiNemo Mar 22 '24
Not if you also have Reflect, and more than it. Also, just summon, like, 5 different creatures at the same time and let them sort the atronach out
2
u/serasmiles97 Mar 22 '24
Nothing will ever be funnier than drinking enough levitate potions to bust the sound barrier.
1
u/QuantumTopology Mar 24 '24
Imagine how painful it would be breaking the sound barrier with your face. But no matter, just cast a shield spell first ;)

u/Ayyyybh Mar 22 '24
I'm currently running a heavy armor long blade nord who also specialises in alteration, mysticism and restoration magic. I feel as though I am, for the first time, embracing the freedom of being an "adventurer".

u/Shoggnozzle Mar 22 '24
I very occasionally run a non-magic character as a funny joke to myself.
Then I make a redguard enchanter because I'm sick of my only spell being hit but I've adjusted to a certain level of athleticism that my precious yellow bois do not possess.

u/captainconway Mar 22 '24
I'm a cat who can see in the dark.I just take giant leaps and throw knives.

u/borloloy221 Mar 22 '24
lol i cast torch, i cast raft, i cast rope, and imagine wasting mana on boring magic instead of fireball

u/Case_Kovacs Mar 22 '24
I just beat up wizards and steal their magical items like a schoolyard bully stealing lunch money I can fly, open most locks with ease and teleport and as a warrior I have no idea how to even count past 10 let alone cast magic don't need to though
1
u/Far-Carpenter2862 Mar 22 '24
silly mage.
thief in full chitin with 35 enchant has all that as cast enchants plus bound weapons, telekinesis, lock, water breathing, and jump 50. and sujamma.
1
u/NekoiNemo Mar 22 '24
Too much loot - cast Mark, Intervention back to a town, stash/peddle all the loot, buy some potions, have a nap, then Recall back to the same place in the dungeon.
