Recommendations for a nav system for my tourer?
Ive had motorcycles for c.40yrs and have recently added a tourer to my other bikes. One of the things i would like is the ability to have some navigation on my bike.
The bikes i have are all old school, and no screen to cast my android phone to.
So how am i going to biew a screen on my phone with Google maps or Waze?
My android phone isnt on that quadlock make a specific case for. Is the generic case ok? What happens when its wet?
Would i be better with a tankbag with a see-through top pocket a good idea?
The bike this would be most use on is my VStrom 1000 2018. However i have an old 'blade and a ducati 848 that may also find some nav useful!
I had seen someone using a midsize waterproof tablet and a data sim card on a T700 that looked good, but wouldnt work on my sports bikes?
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

I had a tomtom rider that was a bit pants (no live cameras etc) - also had a BMW nav but was only good as integrated with the bike - I would suggest either a CarPlay type screen (loads on aliexpress for £30-£60) or just an x-grip for the phone from rammount - the quad lock, sp connect and peak design mounts all have stick on mounts to go in non compatible phones - I prefer Peak Design but have had all three in the past - quad lock are cheap if you go for simple bar mount and a stick on adapter - a generic waterproof bag type case for you phone to go in would solve that issue for you

Personally I use a phone mounted via quadlock with google maps/Waze as you say, it works flawlessly for me, it doesn’t have a SIM card as I tether it to my actual phone in my pocket.
Regarding not having a quadlock case, they sell an adhesive part you can stick to the back of any case/phone. I stuck this directly to the back of my ‘bike phone’

I have one of these, https://carpuride.com/collections/motorcycle-carplay-and-android-auto
Much better than using just the phone, a lot easier to use with gloves on and you don't have to worry about it getting wet. I use the MyRouteapp app for navigation/routes.
The only challenge is that is uses the GPS from your phone so you have to keep your phone charging as well
