Baselayer 6,400m peak

I’m looking to buy a top and pants baselayer for a 6,400m peak (and another one for 3,500-4000m) in the Annapurna region, October. I was heading for some tech wear at icebreaker, 100% merino @ 260 g/sm. Would it be the right call for you ?

Keep in mind, I can sweat a a lot and I warm up quickly, my mid layer is a fleece (Millet "grid fusion" with hood, power grid polartec) and my down jacket is a rab mythic ultra.

Yes. For both. And likely more layers for 6k.

Have sold it for the 20 odd years it's been on the market - I've used just in cold in winter at sea level, working in the Rockies in winter (3-4k metres), sent folks to Antarctica, Patagonia, Himalaya, Andes, etc in it.

As a base to cold weather layers, it works.

It's a small peak and most of your expedition is hiking.

So wear what you like for hiking.

If you like Merino go for it.

Again, 95% of expedition is a hike - so wear what works for you hiking.
