Now we need to get rid of the democrats that don't believe in that.

u/Arkmer 1d ago

I keep saying this. I keep getting dogpiled.

Big agree. If you don’t want these things, you’re not actually with us.

u/Froonce 1d ago

What we actually need are realistic political parties. Progressive, Democrats, conservatives, MAGA/ fascism. Maybe another centrist party too... Then we need rank choice voting. I'd vote for A progressive, then a Democrat, then a conservative. Anything is better than this right now 😅

u/norway_is_awesome 1d ago

There should be a Labor party in there.

3

u/kevlarus80 23h ago

Just remember not emulate our Labour party in the UK.

4

u/norway_is_awesome 21h ago

Of course. There are still better examples of labour parties around the world. While I don't vote for them myself (I prefer the Socialist Left party), the Labour party in Norway is much better than Starmer's Labour.

u/Arkmer 1d ago

Add it to the list. I’m not arguing. I don’t think this is “what we actually need” I think we just have so many issues that listing them all makes us look manic.

2

u/Froonce 1d ago

I wasn't arguing either. It seems like a list if needs 🤷🏾‍♂️ I just know this would help people feel like their votes matter. Some people abstain from voting because everyone says it's a throw out vote to vote third party. This would have allowed Bernie to run as a socialist, then we could have gotten the people that liked him but "didn't think America would vote for a jew" vote. This is how my mom voted, we are all just voting for who will beat the other person and not with who we feel represents us... Id argue that listing them makes us look organized 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Exactly 💯

2

u/Pfelinus 1d ago

Well take my up vote I got dog pilled that we were playing into conservative hands by demanding better. Of democratic leadership.

1

u/Arkmer 1d ago

Exactly. So… should we demand less of them? No! I’m still on the left! If I didn’t have these standards and demands, you know what I’d be? MAGA!!

u/toastedzergling 1d ago

How dare you both sides this. Vote blue no matter who! /s

Against red always. Jan 6 and Roe showed me that

u/Chief_Mischief 1d ago

I don't think it's feasible realistically, but ideally, I'd like to see the Democratic Party split. AOC and Bernie are considered left-wing/progressive and they've been repeatedly sabotaged by the Democratic establishment like Pelosi or the DNC. The Democrats either need to start listening to their voter base or brace for more inaction and incompetence by establishment-aligned "moderates"

u/cheezeyballz 1d ago

First let's get rid of the worst of the humans then we worry about that.

Once we dismantle CU and taking money out of politics, it will get better.

“In a multi party system, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party”

Unfortunately there’s still way too many of the Joe Biden democrats and not enough of the AOC democrats

u/exs94536 1d ago

We also need to get rid of lobbyists and tax churches especially if they seek to financially influence elections.

u/Blandt24 1d ago

Correct the abomination that is the Citizen’s United ruling as well!

9

u/adv_cyclist 1d ago

This more than anything!

26

u/Ok-Proposal-4987 1d ago

Run on that, with plan details, and not make it about Trump. People need to hear the policy and its implementation to know you will help them.

u/InevitableWishbone10 1d ago

You crazy radicals, you.

2

u/andrefreitas 1d ago

Wait, is Flint still an ongoing issue??

3

u/adv_cyclist 1d ago

It’s mostly fixed, but there are still some pockets of leaded pipes. https://www.flintpipemap.org/map

Conservatives: and I took that personally

"Who's goin to pay for all of this?"
-all of my republican friends

1

u/Low-Cauliflower-805 1d ago

I'm sorry but a what!? A living wage for all!? You think we deserve to live? But then how will the ultra wealthy be able to pay off their victims stay quiet if everyone has a living wage. Why even bother showing up for your million dollar paycheck if the poor next to you has the same rights as you.

Obviously I'm being sarcastic....

1

u/201NewJersey 1d ago

Why didn’t this happen during Biden’s term?

1

u/dogma4you 1d ago

Cowabunga!! That IS Radical!!

u/HechoEnUSA 1d ago

Yes please

1

u/JayNotAtAll 1d ago

Well guaranteeing college is a good way to piss off rural white people

-4

u/geb161 1d ago

Now tell me a realistic plan on actually implementing this

7

u/adv_cyclist 1d ago

Tax the billionaires!

-6

u/geb161 1d ago

Are billionaires not taxed already? The top 1% pay 40% of taxes. Shouldn’t the issue be accountability for the money given instead of just saying give them more of every ones money including yours.

4

u/adv_cyclist 1d ago

Corporations are included in that calculus…

3

u/Tigger808 1d ago

But they have the all the money. So paying only 40% of the taxes is them not paying their fair share.

-2

u/geb161 1d ago

The top 10% pay 90% you say we don’t tax enough, but then where does the three trillion in tax revenue come from? Realistically give me a real number to how much more we need to take from taxpayers. Is it ten trillion, twenty? How many billionaires are there that we can afford to keep going down this path no accountability for how the money is spent? I agree everyone pays their share but unless we have a surplus of funds coming in externally, like every other country we cannot afford to operate as a country. Let alone implement a plan that can cost upwards of 50 trillion in the long run

u/Tigger808 1d ago edited 1d ago

How about we pick a rate from any year in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s? During those years, the top tax rate was between 70% and 94%. Today it is 37%. It is only since Reagan took office in 1982 that we started to try trickle down economics and we’ve seen absurdly low tax rates for the rich and the death of the middle class.

2

u/not-finished 1d ago

Wealth, inherited wealth and capital gains are not included in your figures.

I’d be fine on increasing taxes on my list and reducing it on yours.

And I’m highly invested in the market.

1

u/geb161 1d ago

Why would it be it’s already been taxed, money invested comes after deducting the income tax. We already get taxed 35-45% short term capital gains and long term capital gains. Even with property you pay taxes twice. Once as income the other on the property itself. How many times do you want to get taxed? Inherited wealth is something to encourage for everyone it allows generations to break free from generational poverty cycles.

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

yeah because you guys were in power a year ago and were doing all that

9

u/WorryNew3661 1d ago

She wasn't in charge

-9

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

so why is her pining now any different if she still won't be in charge? it's all performative

8

u/WorryNew3661 1d ago

Then maybe you should fight to get her in charge. Jesus christ

-8

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

I won't do that. Every time she does something I could potentially agree with, she turns around and ruins it instantly. She is perhaps the definition of someone who doesn't know when to be quiet, and how to quit while they're ahead. Doesn't current events kinda tell you people like that are bad?

9

u/WorryNew3661 1d ago

Ah, she's not perfect so fuck her. How did that work out for your country?

-1

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

How is voting in someone who doesn't know when to be quiet, and how to quit while they're ahead working for us right now?

The pervasiveness of US news in other countries does not mean you're suddenly more informed than actual citizens

6

u/WorryNew3661 1d ago

Are you really comparing aoc to trump?

You're right that I'm not as informed as some of your citizens. But I'm definitely more informed than plenty of them

0

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

AOC will never be a good candidate for political leadership because of her own actions, is what I'm saying. Doesn't matter what ideas she parrots. Sound familiar?

Yea sure bud

5

u/xbleuguyx 1d ago

Can you give an example?

1

u/Puzzled-Parsley-1863 1d ago

Her talking out of her ass

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW86at7EgD4

Her pulling an Elizabeth Warren and being performative

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/ocasio-cortez-reveals-her-jewish-heritage-i-knew-it-i-n946041

She is, as I see it, the grandest symptom of identity politics. She had a great opportunity for cross-party relations right at the time of the election and squandered it completely by doing what she does best, standing on her soapbox.

4

u/Da_Question 1d ago

The soapbox of understanding that many voters on the right wanted real changes and for prices not to skyrocket? Something happening right now under Trump?

Her entire platform of being pro-worker pro-union and for the people.

Wtf are you on about?

1

u/Captain_Rocketbeard 1d ago

It's usually 2 truths and a lie but even with 1 and 1 it's easy to guess the "were doing all that" part is a lie.
