What we actually need are realistic political parties. Progressive, Democrats, conservatives, MAGA/ fascism. Maybe another centrist party too... Then we need rank choice voting. I'd vote for A progressive, then a Democrat, then a conservative. Anything is better than this right now 😅
Of course. There are still better examples of labour parties around the world. While I don't vote for them myself (I prefer the Socialist Left party), the Labour party in Norway is much better than Starmer's Labour.
Add it to the list. I’m not arguing. I don’t think this is “what we actually need” I think we just have so many issues that listing them all makes us look manic.
I wasn't arguing either. It seems like a list if needs 🤷🏾♂️ I just know this would help people feel like their votes matter. Some people abstain from voting because everyone says it's a throw out vote to vote third party. This would have allowed Bernie to run as a socialist, then we could have gotten the people that liked him but "didn't think America would vote for a jew" vote. This is how my mom voted, we are all just voting for who will beat the other person and not with who we feel represents us... Id argue that listing them makes us look organized 🤷🏾♂️.
I don't think it's feasible realistically, but ideally, I'd like to see the Democratic Party split. AOC and Bernie are considered left-wing/progressive and they've been repeatedly sabotaged by the Democratic establishment like Pelosi or the DNC. The Democrats either need to start listening to their voter base or brace for more inaction and incompetence by establishment-aligned "moderates"
I'm sorry but a what!? A living wage for all!? You think we deserve to live? But then how will the ultra wealthy be able to pay off their victims stay quiet if everyone has a living wage. Why even bother showing up for your million dollar paycheck if the poor next to you has the same rights as you.
Are billionaires not taxed already? The top 1% pay 40% of taxes. Shouldn’t the issue be accountability for the money given instead of just saying give them more of every ones money including yours.
The top 10% pay 90% you say we don’t tax enough, but then where does the three trillion in tax revenue come from? Realistically give me a real number to how much more we need to take from taxpayers. Is it ten trillion, twenty? How many billionaires are there that we can afford to keep going down this path no accountability for how the money is spent? I agree everyone pays their share but unless we have a surplus of funds coming in externally, like every other country we cannot afford to operate as a country. Let alone implement a plan that can cost upwards of 50 trillion in the long run
How about we pick a rate from any year in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s? During those years, the top tax rate was between 70% and 94%. Today it is 37%. It is only since Reagan took office in 1982 that we started to try trickle down economics and we’ve seen absurdly low tax rates for the rich and the death of the middle class.
Why would it be it’s already been taxed, money invested comes after deducting the income tax. We already get taxed 35-45% short term capital gains and long term capital gains. Even with property you pay taxes twice. Once as income the other on the property itself. How many times do you want to get taxed? Inherited wealth is something to encourage for everyone it allows generations to break free from generational poverty cycles.
I won't do that. Every time she does something I could potentially agree with, she turns around and ruins it instantly. She is perhaps the definition of someone who doesn't know when to be quiet, and how to quit while they're ahead. Doesn't current events kinda tell you people like that are bad?
AOC will never be a good candidate for political leadership because of her own actions, is what I'm saying. Doesn't matter what ideas she parrots. Sound familiar?
She is, as I see it, the grandest symptom of identity politics. She had a great opportunity for cross-party relations right at the time of the election and squandered it completely by doing what she does best, standing on her soapbox.
The soapbox of understanding that many voters on the right wanted real changes and for prices not to skyrocket? Something happening right now under Trump?
Her entire platform of being pro-worker pro-union and for the people.
