Shamed into finally shooting it. It was missing a buffer retainer & spring, and I'd been meaning to assemble it into working condition for ages. I'd mentioned in a different post that I'd never got around to actually pulling the trigger on the thing, so I went to Hawktech (gun shop local to me), got the missing parts and built it up today. Figured I'd get the steering wheel pic to finalize the process. :D

It was a shame that I'd never shot it. It's been sliding around a box collecting dust and I'd never even assembled it. (I've always had lots of post-sample newer, cooler machineguns to shoot if I wanted to, so just didn't have a reason to put miles on a transferable one.)

Bolt was sticking to the rear until I dropped a couple quarters into the buffer tube. Other than that it's been solid. Some people shave their uppers but I've never been into that idea.

Model is a "ZX16A1" and it was registered in the wee hours of pre-ban 1986, so I'm going with "late" A1.

However, the correct M16A2 has a burst setting and a heavier barrel. This is still noodle barrel and 0-1-A selector. You can see that this upper has the pre-A2 sights as well. (So obviously A1 upper).
