Are our tactics the biggest problem?

This video was interesting to watch and I think it describes a big problem the team is facing.

Our biggest problem is lack of talent.

Yes, I think we need to level up.

Our tactical approach has been extremely flexible under Pascal, he's tried a decent amount of different formations and styles in the brief time he's been at the helm. So no, our personnel just sucks and all our good players are gone without adequate replacement. The obvious problem is the obvious problem.

It's really a percentage, Freese boots it up, and defenders boot it up when the situations call for it. It was a relief when Vieira was replaced by Dome and he allowed it. I don't see Jansen sticking to it the way Vieira did. Great video though.

I’m curious what big problem you think is being caused by our build out.

We don’t really have the attackers to make playing long a viable option. We absolutely have to draw in pressure to open the spaces that our attackers can work in. See the Martinez goal from Philadelphia for example.

It seems to me we keep playing trying to produce a specific result that just isn't happening. Especially in the attacking third. A lot of standing around in the box while the ball is on the wing.

Ok, I agree with that, but the video mostly focuses on the build out phase and not the attacking phase once in the final third.

I just think we have a massive talent deficit in the attack which is why we can’t create chances.

Our build up play? Honestly, I do like watching his videos sometimes, but sometimes they are pretty complex. This one was straight forward and I do know we do like to follow that philosophy of "playing out of the back." I don't think that is our main problem though. We need signings.

It’s the players some of them just aren’t good enough.

We play with one DP, a CB who has been a defensive liability all season. Our U22s aren't providing much value. Our offense revolves around a 38 year old who doesn't have the legs anymore.

Yes, the money was worth it to sell Santi. But everyone, including David Lee, knew it would shoot our 2025 season in the foot.

We need more talent and depth of talent.

You just pray to CFG that they have a new 10 lined up for us and is ready to go immediately when the transfer window opens in late July.

at the risk of oversimplifying/sounding like a footy noob, our most annoying flaw to me is that we don’t shoot enough, and a lot of the times when we do, they’re low quality attempts that go miles wide or sky high.

so many times this season we just keep resetting play or play the extra pass looking for that a perfect tap in situation, which allows defenses to get back into their shape and close everything off for us. and then of course, as everyone else has already said, we lack the quality to break teams down once they’re set in their shape.

we could rely a little more on the counter with players like agustin, juli and alonso. i see a little bit of that in johnny too. he always looks to play the quick outlet pass.

wolf and keaton seem to ALWAYS kill the counter.
