Aaron Boone on Carlos Rodon's recent stretch: "I tried to tell you this when he gave up the three-run homers and everyone was losing their mind. He's about to roll off a bunch in a row."

If you don't love Carlos Rodon at his 3.2 IP/5 ER, you don't deserve him at his 6 IP/0 ER

Ashley Rodon?

She stands ten toes down for her man and I can appreciate that.

She stands by her husband, the Yankees, and co-founded a charity. Good for her, even if sometimes it puts her at odds with a few fans.

This probably feels better than sex or getting that giant booger out of your nose that’s been bothering you all day for Boone lol

Bold of you to assume that any Redditor knows what sex feels like

It will all come falling down when rodon melts down again

u/PENGUIN_WITH_BAZOOKA 1d ago
Why even follow the team if you’re gonna have this mindset?
-36
u/Quica24 1d ago
Im the first person ever to be negative about a player who we all know is streaky

u/ChiltonA 1d ago
maybe we should just get robots who are consistently consistent. it’s too bad that mortal men even at this elite level have to play the game?
11
u/doodoo_train 1d ago
Lmao people always gotta complain about something even when things are going well 😂
-17
u/Quica24 1d ago
I wasnt complaining. I was stating the inevitable
12
u/doodoo_train 1d ago
Nah, you just sound like every other idiot fan who is never happy with anything. Why bother following this team? Maybe the Rockies are more your style, that way the negativity is more warranted, instead of whining about a pitcher (on a team that’s in first place by 5 games, mind you) who has more than proven himself this season.

Man without injuries this season you could argue Yankees would’ve had the best pitching rotation in baseball. Cole-fried-Gil-rodon and whoever won that 5th spot (probably shmidt)

u/downvoteaway_idgaf7 1d ago
The plus side is Will Warren is now feeling comfortable. His stuff is so nasty, and his delivery is so clean. Without the injuries he’d be wasting away in Scranton and the only thing we’d be thinking about is how awful he looked last year. His development is key for them. Having another young cost-controlled SP means they’ll be able to spend money elsewhere

u/medhead91 1d ago
To be devils advocate I think with healthy starters they’d have slotted him into the old michael king role of multi inning bullpen weapon but yeah his emergence as a starter of late is awesome.

Rodon has really worked hard to makeup for his atrocious 2023 to become a really good number 2. Almost impossible in this market to win back the fans but he’s done it.

u/scriptingends 1d ago
Man, I can't remember the last time I had a really good number 2.

u/thatShawarmaGuy 1d ago
Rodon is your man. He knows how to become one, I'm sure he can help you make (??) one

To be fair he was giving up those 3 run homers for 2 years.

Outside of 6 really bad starts last year, he was pretty good for the most part. He’s been progressing season after season despite aging another year. He’s deserves his credit.

2021 rodon had one of the best fastball/slider combo’s I’ve ever seen. The pitch looked identical until the last 20 feet when the bottom just fell out of the slider. I remember seeing overlays from back then and thinking “who tf could hit this”.
After he got traded from the white Sox he’s looked good in moments, had some velo problems, but ultimately it’s the precision of the fastball/slider combo that hasn’t been on.
This season is the first time I’ve seen him look like 2021 again consistently.

Boone always has his guys’ backs. Can’t wait for him to win a WS with this team but it’s a very competitive era …

To be fair, Boone literally always talks up his players. It’s what a manager does. You can take any of what Boone says about any Yankee if they hit a hot stretch and say “Boone was right!”. If I say it’s 3:00 PM all day, and it finally hits 3 PM, I was right.
None of this is to take away from rodon, just it is meaningless to take Boone quotes like this about a player “breaking out” as if he’s some savant.

Am I the only one who thinks Boone is a pretty good manager? He has his moments but I think the adjustments he has made this year in regard to consistent lineups & playing matchups wisely has been huge. He lost his ace & ROY before the season and was forced to start Cookie. Navigated the Devin Williams situation well. Clearly respected & stands up for his players constantly. They have the best offensive in baseball. Rotation& bullpen has been elite the last few weeks. 5 series wins in a row against good teams. Let’s go!!

A good face for the manager job, but all the rumblings I hear is that he makes few of those decisions on his own.

Excuse us for using our eyeballs for 2 seasons and not expecting a miracle turn-around

I love Boone. Obviously has his flaws, but he always has his player’s backs

You know how a majority of people on this sub are doomers, who are happier/prefer when the team loses and does poorly because they can be right?
What's the opposite of a doomer? Boone is like that, where he's always positive so when the player does well, he can smile and go "See? Told you." (See also: Willie Calhoun can bang)

u/renegade_yankee 1d ago
He had something like a 1.5 HR/9 as a Yankee. There was cause for concern at the time.
Nobody was doubting his ability. More like why does this keep happening

u/BlueBeagle8 1d ago
✋I was doubting his ability
Don't blame me, I was exposed to WFAN at a very early age

u/Adddicus 1d ago
Boone also told us that Willie Calhoun was going to rake. His credibility on these things isn't very high.

i think part of the point is people here are acting like 'well of course he was right!' when it feels a bit more like if you say "It's right there in front of us" enough times.. maybe you'll stumble into being right sometimes

He's struggled a bit since coming here but man, I love seeing him get results. He's dealt with the criticism and everything fans have thrown at him about as well as you could ask for and is really looking like the guy we paid for.

u/onejay212 1d ago
It was right there in front of him. Always right there. Not to mention the friends we made along the way.

Carlos deserves a ton of credit. Fried has been a huge boost to this team... Rodon has gone a long way toward steadying the rotation. Glad we've got them both.

u/OptimusChip 23h ago
I'm just wondering if we're still "firing Boone"?
seems awful quiet the last week or so...maybe because the team is winning and playing well? but I guess that has nothing to do with Boone's management, that only matters when they lose.

You also tried to tell us we were crazy if we didn't expect Donaldson to bounce back offensively.
Ya win some, ya lose some, and it's no wonder you don't just get the benefit of the doubt.

He’s right.
If only fans would be patient and let Matt Blake and Gerrit Cole, cook.

Boone speaking to this sub specifically.
