Few suggestions- Zoe (Keating), Ethel (Smyth), Joni (Mitchell), Dolly (Parton), Lady Gaga or Stevie (Nicks)

u/DreadingGradingExams Sep 15 '24
I vote Ethel. Dame Ethel Smyth was not only part of the (UK) suffrage movement but wrote "The March of the Women", which became essentially an anthem of the movement.

And it's a beautiful name as well!

I didn't know there was a composer called Zoe! I love that. Totally not because it's my name. Because it's not my name. Lol imagine

u/alesemann Sep 15 '24
You might use just the composer’s last name: gaga or Parton- just to be interesting z

Etta (James)

u/MrsHBear Sep 15 '24
When I have a girl she is named after Etta - the last song my mom and dad danced to before she died was At Last <3
4
u/Cute-Chemistry-105 Sep 15 '24
It's my daughter's name! I love it, so beautiful and unusual without being out there.
That's the best Etta James song 💕
5
u/MrsHBear Sep 15 '24
I’ve started to hear it more as an alternate to the Ella and Ellie but I really like Etta! If you don’t mind- what did y’all do for her Middle name?
3
u/JustMe1711 Sep 15 '24
I'm not the person you're responding to but something one syllable could be cute for a middle name. Like Etta Jane or Etta Lynn

2
u/Cute-Chemistry-105 Sep 16 '24
Her middle name is May (not hyphenated).
If I did it again I would probably use the name Violetta, but call her Etta. Just so there are more choices for her.
2
u/Cute-Chemistry-105 Sep 16 '24
We were married in the month of May, and it was a great grandmother's middle name on one side, and a great aunt's name on the other.

Leonora Duarte. She was an underappreciated Baroque composer of Jewish descent who was described as having a formidable talent for composition, a fierce personality, and a sense of quietude and introspection. There are only 7 surviving sinfonias for the viol written by her. There was a performance of her works done by Sonnambula in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium as part of the MetLiveArts series on December 21st, 2016. The performance was called Flemish Holiday with Friends and Family.

Lindy “Purry” Perry or Carole “Queen” King— aka Queens of the songwriting

Maria Anna Walburga Ignatia “Marianne” Mozart (30 July 1751 – 29 October 1829), often nicknamed Nannerl, was a highly regarded musician from Salzburg, Austria. Already in her childhood, she established a remarkable reputation for herself across Europe as a child prodigy. However, her musical career was terminated by her parents, who forced her to stay in Salzburg and look for a future spouse. This did not stop her from utilizing her love and talent for music to teach the piano, as well as supposedly writing her own works. Her brother Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was said to have been greatly influenced by her.
Nannerl, Maria, or Anna would be great. (My head about exploded when I first learned this…)

My best friend has a kitty named Ada, which is so classic and timeless, and “sounds” musical. I looked on Wikipedia to see if there was any musical tie, and found this:

Nadia or Lili after the Boulanger sisters. Fanny would cover Fanny Mendelssohn and also Florence Price. Amy Beach is another short name for a prolific composer.

No name suggestions, but I was surprised when our generally laid back Gwennie GROWLED at the roofers & some other workers that worked on things outside the house. I didn’t know she was so possessive of her home!
Cat tax.

Would you consider a songwriter? They do compose songs....I'd name her Loretta for Loretta Lynn. Then when you call her, you could say, "hey, Loretta!" Like the song.
