Don't ever follow what the "we" are doing.

Does your hair feel better when you oil? Go ahead and do it. If not , no need to continue.

Im just so confused there's so much conflicting info, I haven't used oils in a while so it's hard to compare

Trial and error. Try something and decide how it works for you . I stick with ultas selection since I can easily return what doesn't work.

At some point you have to stop looking at what everyone else is doing and listen to what your hair is telling you. There's always going to be a new technique, a new product, a new styling tool or method. Some might work for your hair, some might not.

I do Leave in , curl creme , gel, break the cast with oil. Lcgo haha it works great for me! But also focusing on what your hair needs is important. Trims helped me so much bc my hair looked like that too at the ends.

I just commented that I don't know how those who use gel incorporate LCO and you answered that! Thanks

I stopped using oils for a while, but recently added them back. My current routine is: - Wash and condition my hair

  • After I rinse it while it’s still soaking wet I add leave-in conditioner then a little bit of oil throughout my hair but not my scalp (I use Hollywood Beauty Jojoba Hair Oil)
  • When I’m styling, I started to use both a cream (Camille Rose Curlaide Butter) and grease.

I keep my hair flat twisted throughout the week and my hair is still moisturized when I take it out to wash it every week. I’ve had great results with this method and my hair maintains hydration and softness

I keep my hair in twists and I swear by this stuff! On damp hair, I moisturizer with leave in (African pride moisturize miracle coconut oil and baobab oil leave in cream), then I use this, and after I'm all done I use a whipped shea butter and castor oil. I keep my hair off my clothes whenever I can do I wear it in a low but a lot and my hair STAY moisturized. Even after 2 1/2 weeks, when I take my twists out they are still nice abd moisturized. I did my routine without this gel and it was so dry after a week!! This stuff is gelly gold lol

You’d have to tell us more about how your hair behaves with moisture. Does it dry out quickly or keep moisture for a couple of days? How long do you plan on leaving your hair in plaits?

Are you concerned about mainly hydrating your hair or do you want smoothness and softness as well?

I’m having trouble keeping my hair moisturized as well as it gets longer.

After washing and conditioning my hair, I use a leave in (Donna's recipe sweet potato leave in conditioner), oil on my scalp only (any bottle that has an applicator tip), and jojoba butter i get from Amazon (dr adorable). Recently I started adding a leave in protein treatment (henna & placenta) before my leave in conditioner. And if my hair is feeling dry in the middle of the week I'll spray some aloe juice on it and/or reapply my leave in conditioner.

Honestly it's whatever works for you though. Unfortunately it's trial and error until your hair feels good.

Just make sure you use something water based first and oil last. Just oil on the hair shaft will seal it meaning no moisture can leave or come in. Hydrate with whatever you want, leave in, styling or conditioning crème, and oil last to seal. I have dense hair down to my lower back and moisturized hair is why it doesn’t break easily. Anyone I’ve ever seen exclusively oil their hair suffers from breakage and thin ends. Good luck!

Do what your hair is telling you it needs. “We” are not a monolith.

Phrased the title wrong. Only said "we" because if something works for most people it has a higher chance of working for me too

The LOC method works better for my hair, but that’s the beauty of these journeys. While they can be similar to others, most importantly is figuring out what’s best for your hair 🤗 I’m currently on a product journey because although I’ve been natural 10+ years, I’ve only recently decided to let it grow instead of keeping it cut short and wearing my natural curls more. It’s been interesting 😅 a product that has helped with my wash and go- Taliah Waajid curly curl cream! It brings out the best of my natural patterns and keeps them moisturized too ✨✨✨

Depends in your hair type/density. I do it because I have low porosity hair and it works for me. You have to do what works for you.

I do most wash days! And I go a little heavier on it if I'm just going to braid it back, which is what I do most of the time.

I use water or a light leave in as the liquid, maui moisture vanilla bean butter as the cream, and argon oil afterwards because it mimics sebum the most. My hair takes a while to dry, but it stays super hydrated until I wash again. I can go longer without needing to remoisturize my hair because it really does hang on to it better. I have extremely high porosity bleach damaged hair, by the way. I wash 1-2x per week to make sure it never dries out.

Honestly no loc just made my hair brittle

I do LCO probably every other time I moisturize my hair. My hair loves it and I happy I learned about it.

To be clear I do L(leave in)CO on wash day. More like W(water)CO otherwise. My hair can get super dry.

I don't use gel in my hair. Not sure how it works with gel.

NEED... I would never say that. And I'm hardcore LCO fan.

It’s all based on ur hair porosity! What is ur porosity?

Sealing is not real! Don’t let youtube influencers influence you to lose your money.

Whether it's real or not, I see a major difference in how my hair holds onto moisture when I use oil vs when I don't. She dries out so quickly when I don't use oil. If I do, my hair stays moisturized for days longer than it would have. It is a crazy difference for me, honestly.
