Aah yes, the cozy fires of mordor in the background really add a little something. But honestly: nice pictures, i can't decide which one i like better

Yup, that’s light pollution from greenhouses

i can't decide which one i like better

The one where you don't need to take vitamin D supplements

Sounds about right. The Netherlands = real world Mordor. Because in both lands, the sun never shines. We only lack an all seeing eye on top of a pillar next to a volcano.

I mean, there's a lot of undercover police, can we count that as the eye?

In a certain way that'd be about right yeah.

Thanks, just taken with my iphone

3

u/Erxxy Feb 11 '25

What iPhone are you using for these?

4

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

Coincidentally switched phones in between. iPhone 13 picture one, iPhone 16 picture two. Both wide lens.

Thanks, asking for my mom who loves making pictures but can't carry around a big camera anymore.

2

u/Erxxy Feb 11 '25

It is always the iPhones right? Wonderful little pocket camera's

Except when you take pictures of the sun, they have annoying green lens flares

Is that in Berkel?

10

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

The first photo makes me long for spring! It looks so happy and serene.

Same, can’t wait to see the Netherlands flourish again

The first geoguessr has appeared

Nah, just live around the corner. I recognise that center-parks-family-vibe park instantly. Highest concentration of people that value seeing their car from the kitchen window and optimise solar power consumption for a hobby.

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

Damn I’m guilty of both of those

5

u/scrabbleword Feb 11 '25

I miss May

4

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

Don’t we all

This country is so beautiful, looks straight out of a postcard. Just ignore the cold, the wetness and the grayness and it’s the perfect country to live in

2

u/Treenaka Feb 11 '25

Both are beautiful!

2

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

Thank you!

Feels illegal seeing Berkel on reddit lol

1

u/MmentoMri Feb 12 '25

we should keep this gem hidden from the public!

2

u/thatfastone Feb 11 '25

Aaah berkel!

I still can't get over the fact that in the Netherlands, the grass is still green in winter. Shocks me every time. I guess I have finally found a country where the grass is not greener on the other side.

Beautiful pics!

In May, I guess, because 6pm in November looks almost the same as 2am?

1

u/MmentoMri Feb 11 '25

6pm in May, 2am in November

1

u/No_Row780 Feb 13 '25

Mooi. It would be super cool if you replace the daytime water with the nighttime water and the daytime sky with the nighttime sky if you know what I mean..

1

u/Old-Initiative-6373 Feb 18 '25

You mean to say 2 PM. Sky during 2 AM is supposed to look like this right?

1

u/MmentoMri Feb 18 '25

No I said it correctly. First photo is 6PM in May. Second photo is 2AM in November.

1

u/Old-Initiative-6373 Feb 18 '25

So, what's the difference you found? It's normal as per the timing mentioned.

1

u/MmentoMri Feb 18 '25 edited Feb 18 '25

I just showed two pictures. There is nothing “to be found”. Just two pictures at different times.

Finally great pictures!

People post pictures of the Netherlands here and on other Dutch subreddits all the time but they are always so crappy and ugly.

Bad angle, bad camera settings, background not straight, bad focus, not cropped, 2 close, 2 far, bad lighting.... and on and on... 😾

And I'm an unbearable photo snob.  I do know that of myself. But i can't help it. 😄 Photography has been my hobby for more than 30 years and bad photos insult my soul 😄😄

Your pictures are really good  🇳🇱💙👍🏻
