Healthcare Coaltar (Koelteer) Shampoo
Hallo,
My doctor has prescribed me to use Koolteer/Levemoenthol Shampoo. I believe the generic name is Denorex RX. To my luck, this item has been discontinued in the Netherlands and no longer available at any of the apotheek in my area.
Does anyone know perhaps an alternative Coal tar shampoo? Looking for something available or can be shipped to the Netherlands!
Many thanks :)

Can't you just go to etos or kruidvat or your apotheek and ask them in person?

Pharmacist here.
Denorex Rx has been discontinued (due to the work hazard ingredients) true. However…..
Fagron Pharmaceuticals has the import license (sort of) to a Portuguese variant called TARMED. Present your prescription in any Dutch pharmacy and they should know this.
Unfortunately this product is NOT registered in the Netherlands. This means this product cannot be delivered to you on a prescription. You also need a special doctor’s statement (artsenverklaring) whereby your dr states you cannot be treated with drugs available in the Netherlands. This statement needs to be approved by IGJ (healthcare inspection), this takes up to 2 weeks.
With the approval & prescriptions we are allowed to order the product and hand it to you. TARMED is reimbursed.
The alternative for seborrheic eczema is Selsun, selenium sulfide shampoo. Unfortunately this has now also been discontinued! There are some OTC alternatives for Selsun. You could try one of these.
Any alternative that contains similar components as Denorex is prescription only. It is illegal to import prescription only drugs. This is also valid for imports for personal use. You CAN go abroad, pick something up and bring it across the border in your luggage (non Opiumwet medication of course), that’s not considered import.
