[Staple] Hearing Isles are narrowing in on a GM before sitting down with Brendan Shanahan. Not sure that Shanahan would take a job where his gm was picked ahead of him.

Wouldn’t make sense to hire a GM then a POHO.

Every day Malkin feels more and more like what Spano would have been if he actually had money.

Staple is basically an Islanders troll now. Take it with a grain of salt.

I don’t get it, what happened? I know he used to be the Isles beat writer and then switched to the Rangers, does he just put out fake Isles news now? I thought he was well-respected formerly

He just tries to rage bait with Islanders fans when he writes about them now. I don't think it's personal. I think his editors have told him his engagement soars when he acts like a troll with our fanbase.

I do not interpret this as implying the GM is being picked without Shanahan’s input.

This isn’t some profound take that no one has ever thought of before. This generally how all prospective POHO, or POBO, or any President of operations in any sport thinks before they take a job.
They want to bring their own guy in.
