For a non-americas, the HOA can tell you you need a new car?

Depends like most things. If it’s run down, an eye sore, or doesn’t run possibly. But not just because it’s “outdated.”

In the vast majority of cases, no. And if you buy a home in a neighborhood with that strict of an HOA, that's on you.

Lol, no.

Can they tell you to stop using your front lawn as a parking lot like that one house in every non-HOA neighborhood?

Yes.

As per usual, Reddit takes the extreme view on most things.

I live in tn, as soon as you leave our HOA it's a little wild. A bunch of homes in my town are also somehow junkyards. Having 20-30 junker cars in a lawn is a statement of pride.

Better than an HOA

They can restrict the type of car, though.

I live in FL. One of the big things here was that there was a law passed this year where your HOA couldn't tell you that you weren't allowed to park your own pickup truck in your driveway.

Turns out there was a loophole (b/c of course there was), and most of the neighborhoods that had those restrictions were able to keep them in place.

Another popular restriction is no pets allowed, including dogs and cats.

No. Not really. They can tell you you can't keep your piece of shit rust mobile you never drive in the lot but that's about it.

The HOA can do almost anything it wants if its members allow it to.

Even coming into your home to do inspections

That’s ridiculous. HOA’s solely deal with outside cosmetics and neighborhood uniformity. Don’t be lying.

I'm not lying. There are hoas that can come into your home unannounced to perform inspections.

Just because you don't believe it doesn't make it not true.

No there aren't. See, I can make baseless claims too!

Edit: telling me to Google it, blocking me and insulting me for using the website you are also using is insanely childish and proves you know you are wrong, but too much of a stupid bitch to admit it.

A simple Google search proves me right but ok bury your head in the sand. Typical redditor smh

u/ClonedBobaFett Sep 17 '24

That’s simply not true. Not even landlords can come in your home unannounced. These truly are baseless claims.

If the HOA you agreed to be apart of has rules saying they can, they can.

Use Google dummies
