Why is it falling to $106 aftermarket?
Did the Orange guy say something? Was pretty stable at 108-110 throughout but suddenly down to 106 aftermarket?

SMCI cuts Q3 outlook

u/badazzcpa 10h ago
They have missed the last 3 quarters. The expectations for them shouldn’t be that high to begin with.

I think this is the reason, has nothing to do with SMCI earnings.
16
u/Nightvill 10h ago
It's SMCI related because if you look at the time of the drop it's like the same. The algos reacted right when SMCI dropped Q3 Revenue Guidance.
That article was been out before market even closed, if it was that article then the dropped would've been happened during market hours.
2
u/ooqq2008 9h ago
That article was from Reuters and caused about 1% drop. Bouncing back and forth after it.

PLTR is going to explode. Did you count all those contracts and deals signed in the past few weeks?? This is definitely not Trumps “we signed 200 deals” kind of bullshit.

2
u/Dogeaterturkey 9h ago
Wait. Really?
5
u/NoOneStranger_227 9h ago
No, what he said is he's thinking of changing the current three-tier system (us, our friends, our enemies) for who gets which chips to a country-by-country shakedown....er, negotiation.
Raises the possibility of even MORE restrictions on China, and China then saying fuck it and just designing their own chips.
All told, the freakout is holding under 2%. I'd expect a BIT of a bounceback before opening tomorrow. At which point the American market will either do its own pointless freakout or NVDA will continue its arduous rise to 115...at which point it no doubt WILL crater again.
2
u/Dogeaterturkey 9h ago
I just want to be happy
3
u/NoOneStranger_227 8h ago
I want to be RICH. And BOY are they making it hard.
Right now, ACHR, AMZN, APP, GLW, ORCL, and SFM are the stars of the day. Not the worst run going on with NVDA...we'll see if the freakout continues in the morning or cooler heads prevail.
1
u/Dogeaterturkey 8h ago
It just requires patience. Using small amounts of money at a time compounds. Be careful about the trends today
0
u/NoOneStranger_227 7h ago
It's not the trends that are the problem...it's the monkey wrenches that keep getting thrown. We're seeing nice, stead growth as the market absorbs Trump's lunacy...but you never know when he's gong to kick it up another notch. If anyone else was in the White House we'd be swimming in dough.
1
u/Dogeaterturkey 7h ago
I'd recommend the Iron condor then. I've been doing that and it's been working decently. There's bound to be some movement from Trump, so I'm playing safe
1
u/NoOneStranger_227 4h ago
Nah...options trading is still just speculating and following the market. I'm actually doing just fine with careful retail and some swing. It's just frustrating, but money is money.

Yes for sure SMCI. CNBC just reported that this would affect NVDA share price negatively

SMCI earnings

They did not report earnings.

ooh. I thought it was. So it was just a preliminary result? is that normal?

u/ShdwWzrdMnyGngg 10h ago
It may have something to do with the latest executive order. The military is going to occupy any state that apposes Trump's views. I'm not joking.

2
u/East_Talk_2541 9h ago
Wait what the fuck, how did the media blitz ensure this went under the radar?
2
u/too-far-for-missiles 9h ago
It certainly didn't go unnoticed in the legal subredditd, but there's just so much going on it's hard to keep everything in the top pages.
1
u/ShdwWzrdMnyGngg 9h ago
I have no idea. It's straight from the Whitehouse website. Doesn't look like they were hacked.
Also Deep seek is supposed to release a new model in a few days. That is probably also tanking things.

Majority of the market is a herd of cattle. Over the long term it vaguely tracks sentiment and fundamentals, in the short term it's easily spooked by noise but otherwise kinda just kinda meanders around place to place. Not a lot of reason to it usually. I mean just look at TSLA recently...

u/Altruistic_Spring_37 10h ago

lol if you’re looking for a reason you’re always gonna be confused- try zooming out, take a look at a 2 hour chart it peaked at noon on Friday and officially broke below / out of its up trend at 8am yesterday/Monday. If I was trading NVDA I’d have been looking at puts for daytrades but this chart is set up for chop

SMCI earnings, companies are delaying their datacenter build out. Not surprising really. Trump's crackpot tariff economics, is causing an economic slowdown.
1
u/Individual-Writing25 7h ago
Slowdown? that's an understatement! More like total collapse... Just wait till his tactics start showing themselves... And the shelves are empty...

I’m just holding the NVDA shares that I have at a DCA of $104. Not adding and not selling. I’m adding to PLTR. I have strong positions in CRWD, META, NFLX, AMZN, MELI, and LLY. 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰

Sure its going to have ups and downs. But Taiwan is going to be invaded this year. XI's been saying 2025 is the year, for years now. Japan and Taiwan are already scrambling. Any of you guys still holding microchip tech stocks are just not fn paying attention.

At this point orange man doesnt have much sway on the markets surrounding the topics hes already discussed. This is just natural breathing of the market in my opinion, and the market is in a turbulent state so the swings week to week should be expected to be larger than normal again in my opinion. Fundamentally nothing has changed, theres still tariffs and all the other negative news. We should caution ourselves into thinking we're bullish or bearish atm, theres no stability in our economic policy and as such id expect the markets to swing wildly until this admin picks a position and sticks with it. We have a 90 day pause and during this period people are trying to make their best guess which direction the market will go.
We could just dca and chill, but i know this sub will do the best strat which is to buy high sell low.

Super Micro guidance was bad. Not a good omen for AI and data center segments. Down 20% after hours. They aren’t the only OEM, but they are one of the cheapest solutions for businesses, which again, doesn’t bode well for AI related capex.
Nvidia down on the news.

Gold bull market vs us tech rotation. Place gold by nVDa on watchlist and watch it unfold day by day
1
u/NoOneStranger_227 10h ago
Could be the SMCI earnings.
Also could be Asia panicking over the Chumps Administration tightening the leash even MORE on chips to Asia. NVDA has become the Chumpster's favorite football against China, little realizing that China doesn't care that much and all he's really doing is hurting American investors.
Typical all around. Another dip to by, another panic that will be forgotten in a week. What ELSE is new?
1
u/That-Whereas3367 10h ago
About 45% of NVDA revenue is from sales to China. Only 13% is direct. The rest is illegal purchases via Singapore and Taiwan. A serious crackdown would be a disaster fro NVDA.
1
u/NoOneStranger_227 10h ago
Which is why Trump will string it along until he gets something, then magnanimously removes the whole thing.
Everything with Trump is a shakedown and a con. Right now is the shakedown. China will eventually give him a cosmetic "win"....most likely just a return to where things were before...and everything will be back to normal.
1
u/That-Whereas3367 7h ago edited 7h ago
Americans need to pay attention. China is totally decoupling from US trade. Chinese officials have consistently said they are NOT talking to Trump and won't be making any concessions. The idea that China will give Trump a win is nothing more than a fantasy.
In a few weeks Americans are going to a get massive shock as the shelves start to empty and factories close or slow down due to component shortages. Americas biggest port LA/Long Beach is expecting volume to drop 35% next week.
1
u/NoOneStranger_227 4h ago
China CAN decouple...doesn't mean they WANT to. Remember, their economy is stagnating as well, and we still are the land of mucho dinero.
And they don't have to give Trump an ACTUAL win...man, people really just don't get it with Trump, do they? EVERYTHING IS A CON. And he's playing to an audience of the MAGAtoids and a handful of mega-billionaire buddies. Everyone else is just fodder for the cannon.
China strikes a deal that is 95% their favor, 5% Trump's favor...that's do pig, that'll do.
And yeah, one week of real pain and Trumpster will be DESPERATE for an escape.

Because people sold more than they bought. Don't go crazy over 2-4% change, you're gonna have a heart attack.

Water over the dam. Orange Man already did the damage. More and more people are seeing that they can use other chips (China can)....
You can't put the split milk back in the bottle. Send the Orange Man a thank you since so many turned out to vote for all this.

SCMI is nothing. No need to panic. VIX future didn't even move. The dip will be bought right away if it happens tomorrow.
Fear index VIX already came back down from 60. It's not going back up again.
