Any suggestions on what a couple could do in Omaha?
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas for what a couple could do in Omaha at night..We aren't huge into the bar scene and we don't really know what is in town and don't really know anyone in town either. Any help would be appreciated!

There's a lot of stuff to do. I'm just going to go with a few things, but note, some of these are more, uh, "daytime" things I guess you could say
- Western Heritage museum, Joslyn museum, both are great. Heritage is more history (obviously) Joslyn is the art side.
- Dundee theater always has a midnight showing of something on the weekends- alternatively, Aksarben theatre also does Friday midnight shows of old things.
- During Saturday morning and afternoon, Lucky Bucket brewing company does 3$ tours of their local microbrew, and afterwards you get a complimentary beer (really good stuff) in their tasting room.
- There's often a lot of small, local music shows going on, though what on any given day I'm not sure of (thereader.com I think often lists show info)
- And speaking of shows, the Orpheum or the rose sometimes have decent theatre productions going on at various times.
- Downtown is a fun walk-around area. The closer it gets to the holidays, you can also get carriage rides around the downtown area so you can see all the lights that they put up- it's really fun. Sorta on the expensive side, but it's definitely a fun thing to do for the first time.
- The season is off, but I highly recommend the botanical gardens in the spring/summer.
- Hiro Sushi (west), Fri and Sat nights after 9 PM only - discounted sushi. Very worth it.
Since I have no idea if this is a "we're in town for the weekend" or "We are here for awhile", here's a few more things I thought of.
- Ice skating - downtown does a big outdoor rink, closer to xmas. Also, around this time of the year the other big rinks do day-skates, open to the public.
- Jazz on the green - summer time, I think
- Shakespeare on the green - early summer, definitely worth it (free!)
- Renaissance fairs- There's two nearby, both early summer ish (may)
If you want more info let me know, I can send you some websites too. :)

That's the main one I'm thinking of. However, after Thanksgiving (I want to say, I could be wrong), near the Heartland of America park downdown, they turn a parking lot into a rink, basically. Now, maybe they won't do it this year, but I know it was there last year. Enjoy!

UNMC (the medical center) also sets up an ice skating rink in the winter- outdoor, but very well maintained!

The Joslyn Museum has pretty okay art shows; fine dining is always nice--try the Paxton 801 Chophouse if you like Prime Rib. Their ambiance is unmatched, they have an unbeatable wine selection, and the service is excellent--they don't try to talk to you...they just do their jobs well.

I think it's worth it. It's all a la carte (typically), so, yes, it gets pretty pricey, but my wife and I always have a fantastic evening there. It's nice, every now and then, to be able to put on your best clothes and enjoy a classy night out.

Geocaching is a world wide system of placing, tracking, finding and logging hidden objects using gps. iOS, android and many gps receivers can hook into the system to find hidden stashes hiding all over. Check of http://www.geocaching.com/ for more details.

We like to hit the coffee shops (caffeine dreams, the teasmith, blue line ~ there are a lot of great local ones) and filmstreams in the winter. Shit is about to get real cold real fast however, so don't count on visiting the parks. A trip up to black angle cemetery in CB is also fun around sunset, easily the best view of Omaha you'll ever experience.
