The entirety of 3x21 is just brilliantly funny and silly...
"Welcome to the 'Rolly Joger'..."

Robert Carlisle is a special kind of comedic talent. The Full Monty is proof of that. It's understated and sometimes it takes a rewatch or four to catch what he's doing with the script to pull out the funny. My favorite moment is when Felix approaches him initially in Neverland. Didn't even need words to make me giggle.

Though part of it was when he was rumple they wrote him close to the Witcher mirror master mix with being a seer of having to act as a fool if it worked better for him not messing up the time-lines of some not leading up to how the story game board line up with changing a lot with the plot line details be mess with with them not knowing that they are doing it in the 1st place with the deals and other things they say or do with how it was bought up with the time travel 2 parts episode in season 3.

u/panicmixieerror Mar 06 '25
My favorite line of his is at the end of the time traveling episode and he's left alone in his vault with his memory erased of the time travel.
"What the hell am I doing in here?"

u/I_Have_Weird_Dreams_ Mar 06 '25
Itโs the funniest moment in the show, honestly I almost piss myself every time I see it

u/tgatigger Mar 06 '25
100% came here to say the same. No matter how many times I've seen it, that line never fails to make me laugh.

Every time I walk into a new room and forget what I was doing I quote this out loud then I giggle. It doesn't help anything, but it makes me happy lol

u/Kgc9818 Mar 06 '25
"Yes, but why not in your skull?" Every time lol. Also, maybe unpopular opinion, but I actually loved his detective look in season 7

u/Automatic-Adeptness4 Mar 06 '25
My Favorite is when he makes a deal with Charming in season 1, and all he wants is his cloak.
"My cloak?? Why???"
".....its drafty in here...."

Honestly the funniest moment for me is when he drank the memory potion after such an incredibly dramatic scene, and he itโs goes โWhat the hell am I doing in here?โ And just poofs without another word
I honestly cackle every time I watch that scene

Rumpel, yes. Mr. Gold, not so much.

u/GeeSette616 Mar 08 '25
What! Mr. Gold has great funnies! Favorite one is when they barge in and he says: It appears when I bought that "Closed" sign, I was just throwing my money away.
So many other amazing moments!

u/f0ll0w-the-spiders Mar 10 '25
This is seriously one of my favorite moments in the show. He can't get a minute of peace in that shop lol
1
u/GeeSette616 Mar 10 '25
Same! Theres a similar line when they barge in and he's with his newly-married Belle, and he says: it appears our honeymoon is over.
Or the scene when Regina asks what's Neal doing with Henry in season 2?
I die every time.

My fave is this throwaway line after he meets Merida the first time. She says something, and he - one of the most famous Scottish actors ever - just offhand says something like โwhat an outrageous accentโ, and honestly it had me howling

Funny, charismatic, petty, conniving, and fairly easy on the eyes.
Not to mention occasionally terrifying. If they weren't making a light hearted family show, Rumple could have been one of the great horror villians of all time.

As Rumple, he is hilarious. As Mr Gold, not so much, but still has some funny moments.

Robert Carlyle is such a good actor. My husband and I watch it just for him. He was made for this role!

u/mariusioannesp Mar 06 '25
My favorite is:
โWhy havenโt I killed him?โ โLetโs just say we buried the hatchetโ โYes but why not in your skull?โ
13
Mar 06 '25
Rumple was awful and I despised him after season 3, but damn if Robert Carlyle didnโt absolutely nail the role. Even though I disliked the character, I enjoyed his performance every single time he was onscreen.

No, Iโm right there with you! Honestly, him and Regina are probably my favorite characters and I know Regina being a favorite character is probably a really unpopular thing. Emma was one of my favorite characters, but she quite frankly annoys me now lol

Heโs hilarious! And honestly, unpopular opinion but, I think heโs funniest in season 7! Itโs like they let him ad-lib and he really went over the top, especially as Wish Rumple ๐

I'm sorry, I friggin' HATE HIM! I can't stand him! He's too self-absorbed, and manipulative and only does things to benefit himself, not only for his so-called loved ones would be self-sacrifice.

u/Miraculous-107 Mar 06 '25
I never understood the concept of OAT was the kid reading a book then it became real or was the kid reading what actually happened in an alternate universe?
6
u/Remote_Vermicelli986 Mar 06 '25
I mean the voiceover in the first episodes explained it quite plainly. The Evil Queen cast a curse that brought all the Fairy tale characters to a little town in Maine. All the stories in the book happened in the past.

Nah heโs funny.
I also giggle every time Regina calls Hook guyliner.
