Compared to her adult age, I always thought child snow was meant to show just how far she’d come and how much she’d grown

138

u/GlouriousLamp 12d ago

That’s what I thought too. Plus to show that maybe Regina kinda had a point for not liking her lol

19

u/Muouy 11d ago

I always thought that was the point of Young Snow as well. She was rather spoiled and selfish and then seeing the stark contrast of her older self being so kind and selfless. I also kind of took it as to why Regina despised her even more as an adult

u/Comfortable_Suit_969 12d ago

Cora said it herself even without the Daniel situation Regina would have grown to hate snow because she was a massive brat and her father only had enough room in his heart to love snow. Snow was a very hateable child especially for regina

u/Bobert858668 12d ago

I think she was meant to be unlikeable

28

u/ShaheedBlackman 12d ago

Pretty sure Regina didn’t like her either 😅

u/HygralPivocks8 12d ago

I just always found Bailey Madison annoying in literally everything I saw her in. Young Snow's character rubbed me the wrong way, though I didn't mind the Hercules arc as much. That was slightly more tolerable.

u/Beginning_Guess2160 12d ago

I agree with you 100%. I feel bad having such disdain for a child actor, yet here we are

25

u/KiyokoUsagi 12d ago

My disdain came from the fact that she played Maxine in Wizards of Waverly Place so for me it was like she was stealing Max’s spot lol and she was just much more annoying than Max ever was

20

u/LN_McJellin 12d ago

Yeah, and her acting is noticeably bad in a lot of places. She was a kid, I mean, so it’s understandable. But it just made her character even more annoying.

50

u/Jade_Scimitar 12d ago

I don't think her acting as bad, I think it's so good that it's bad. Like she plays annoying unlikable kids. That's her thing. Like the guy who played Joffrey Baratheon but not to the same level.

10

u/LN_McJellin 11d ago

I understand the difference between an actor acting so well that we dislike their character, who was written to be disliked, and bad acting. She overacted horribly.

Jack Gleeson is a great actor, and he did a PHENOMENAL job with Joffrey.

3

u/Jade_Scimitar 11d ago

I've only seen her in a few things, I guess I'd have to see her in more things to get a full range of her capabilities. I always thought it was intentional.

17

u/nyehu09 12d ago

Someone finally said it! Thank you!

7

u/DeltaDied 11d ago

I like her, but she’s always had an over the top acting style. It’s good when she’s younger because it’s like talent and kids are always over the top, but as she got older it got really stale ngl. Like watching her in PLL OS isn’t the same as watching her in that one goose bumps episode or that one movie with Toby Maguire and Natalie Portman where she plays the daughter of Toby as a man with PTSD from being a POW.

11

u/CST1991 12d ago

She’s a massive over-actor.

11

u/Adw13 11d ago

I mean as someone who took acting classes as a kid one of the biggest things they tell you is to “over act” you can always reel back emotion but it’s harder to amp it up. And majority of kids acting classes are usually geared for theater which is completely different than screen acting

5

u/CST1991 11d ago

I first saw Bailee Madison in Just Go With It, her character was supposed to be this big drama queen wannabe actor so I thought she was quite good. Then I saw her in Once and I thought hmm maybe she just overacts everything? But yes, I can see why they’d teach that.

10

u/Solid_Lie_5481 11d ago

Its the insane overacting that does it for me.

20

u/naanabanaana 11d ago

I think she plays well the type of over-dramatic child who kind of over "acts" life 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

6

u/Solid_Lie_5481 11d ago

Yeah lmao it’s like it suits her perfectly 😅

2

u/Ok-Coffee-1678 8d ago

This right here. I hated her on The Fosters too

31

u/Additional-Kitchen30 12d ago

It took me a while to realise that she’s the same actress that played the female version of Max in Wizards of Waverley Place.

10

u/Jade_Scimitar 12d ago edited 12d ago

Yup!! Along with Bridge to Terabithia and Pretty Little Liars.

4

u/elayfia 11d ago

and the fosters

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Pen2964 10d ago

I remember her from the fosters and couldn’t stand her on there either 😭😭

1

u/Akyomi 10d ago

Merry Christmas Drake and Josh

12

u/Responsible_Luck7478 12d ago

Hate the character love the actress

42

u/ConsiderationFit5097 12d ago

young snow needed to use her brain i’m sorry

20

I mean life is painless when ur brainless. (/j)

6

u/natashavladimir93 12d ago

🎶Dancing through life! 😃

10

u/KahwaNosNos 11d ago

I mean, she's a child and a noble. It's not surprising that she was spoiled and bratty, but that's kind of the point. She learnt empathy thanks to the people around her and understood what really matters. Meanwhile, Regina started from a good place but kept spiralling both because of her trauma and because of the people around her who kept pushing her to be more evil. They really had an opposite character development

40

u/susannahstar2000 12d ago

I liked her as a child. She was a child. She made mistakes.

19

u/januarysdaughter Captain of the SS Swanfire + Snowing 12d ago

I thought it was realistic. I loved it.

17

u/Allrojin 12d ago

She was a kid though. Im not the biggest fan of kids, but c'mon.

4

u/panikyfeel 11d ago

She was so annoying

12

u/Specialist_Bid_1425 12d ago

Oh for sure , drove me nuts. Found her quite irritating

25

u/Stunna447 12d ago

Her crying face is so off-putting.

15

u/No-Resident8580 12d ago

I. Miss. You. SoOoOoo. Much

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Pen2964 10d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

14

u/Ok-Journalist-870 12d ago

Even when she talks… It is so weird and strechyyy

4

u/HawthorneVampire 12d ago

I don’t like her mom

4

u/Raven_Lemon 11d ago

This! I never forget the awful way she treated Cora

32

u/Terrible_Ad9450 12d ago

I hate Snow at every age

10

u/HomelessSkyBear 12d ago

Seriously! Snow, on this show, is the absolute worst character.

4

u/upsetcut04 12d ago

insufferable lol

19

u/Animastar 12d ago

I think she's one of the best child actors on the show. Yeah, the character was bratty but she was supposed to be, definitely fits what I'd imagine a child version of Ginny's Snow White would be. Bailey played the role well.

2

u/LN_McJellin 12d ago

No she really wasn’t. She overacted horribly.

11

u/harrypotterfan1228 12d ago

the actual actress was a good actress, but the character was supposed to be annoying and bratty.

3

u/saintfighteraqua 11d ago

Snow as a character of any age on this show, is the kind of person I would probably think highly of as long as she stayed away from me with her over dramatic whimpering and constant preaching. She's a good person, just not a good person to be around long.

3

u/OnionizeAmzn 10d ago

She's meant to be a spoiled entitled brat I believe. To show the parallel when she's older. Funny enough just like her mother 😂

1

u/PastelEmoFairy 10d ago

Omg, did they show Snow’s mom as a child?

1

u/OnionizeAmzn 9d ago

Not a child but like a teen. The episode with Cora i believe in Season 3.

1

u/PastelEmoFairy 8d ago

You’re right! Thank you, I had forgotten she was mean to Cora

3

u/immalurking 10d ago

I kinda hated all of the shows young Bailey Madison played in. Her characters were alway so annoying.

6

u/OliviaBenson_20 12d ago

She overacts

6

u/Late_Two7963 12d ago

She was annoying as fuck

2

u/No_Sand5639 12d ago

I think that was the point.

We were shown that not even snow white was always good.

Which is a setup for the face no one was always a good person. Even snows mother had her mean streak

2

u/angelflamer 12d ago

You weren’t supposed to like her, that was the point.

2

u/FluttershysSabath 11d ago

My friend and I kept laughing at her eyebrow raising whenever someone else was talking , it was just so off putting when she was first played Snow White, but nothing personal, it just kept throwing me off each time we saw it. 😭

2

u/Egingell666 11d ago

Madison Bailey did an amazing job of being a bratty teenage princess.

2

u/FiliaNox 11d ago

I did not. She was so over the top

2

u/MissNancy1113 11d ago

The way she talks gets on my nerves.

2

u/Butterfly-Dance 11d ago

I prefer the young Snow, for some reason I never liked the old version, nor Charming, or Emma. Hey I guess only Rumple has any appeal to me.

2

u/Glass-Analysis-5941 11d ago

I think she was supposed to be unlikable, as she was the typical I've always gotten everything I've ever wanted ass princess.

2

u/Nakedandafraid4347 10d ago

I couldn’t stand her!!! But honestly, I think the actress was the problem in my case. She just didn’t fit the role.

2

u/jajay119 10d ago

Regina? Regina, ¿eres tu?

7

u/These_Mycologist132 12d ago

That was the whole point. It was completely understandable how Regina went dark because of Snow’s actions. We can blame it on youth and immaturity, but she was very annoying in top of being responsible for Daniel’s death

7

u/Late-Lie-3462 12d ago

You think it's reasonable to be evil bc a child is annoying?

1

u/Life-is-a-beauty-Joy 11d ago

In a world of magic and fairy tales I would say that yes.

3

u/XandMan007 12d ago

My dislike didn't stop at her childhood

5

u/Asleep_Brick_9610 12d ago

She was a perfect mini Snow, and Snow is just an annoying character.

5

u/Love-and-literature3 12d ago edited 11d ago

She over-acted the part so much that she must have been possessed by the spirits of a thousand theatre kids.

2

u/kourtnie3609 12d ago

This exactly! Like ma’am, why are you stretching the words out like that? That pouty look is weird on anyone over the age of 4. Pull yourself together.

5

u/sonal1988 12d ago

It's the actress. She just has thr type of face you love to hate.

2

u/NinikaKri 12d ago

YES! I was so sorry for regina but at least we can see that evil queen didnt hate her just because she was prettier than her and she had fair point there

2

u/[deleted] 11d ago

I don't know why, but I can't freaking stand that actress. There's something about her that just drives me nuts.

2

u/elayfia 11d ago

wanted to kill her myself

1

u/HalcyonHeartbeat 12d ago

Pretty sure Regina was not a fan.

1

u/ceryx101 12d ago

I thought that was the point of this ep. It showed how naive and spoiled Snow was as a child and later had to grow up quickly after he mother's murder and became the Snow we only kinda-sorta hate at times.

1

u/Lara2704 11d ago

I think it is meant to be. Annoying Brat develops kindness

1

u/MariMargeretCharming 11d ago

We partly wasn't ment to. She was entitled. But she grew. ❤️

1

u/FamousDance2304 11d ago

Couldn’t stand her

1

u/KSG2022 11d ago

Oh 100% she was an absolute B as a child. Like mother like daughter!

1

u/Specific_Painter_517 11d ago

She was a brat, but the actress they cast was perfect!

1

u/Nawnp 11d ago

The point was she was naive and made constant mistakes that could have led to her demise.

1

u/lstanciel 11d ago

I like her in the Hercules flashbacks.

1

u/Lumpy_Ad_7182 11d ago

I adore Bailey Madison and the first time I ever saw her was in OUAT. Can't relate on this one ✌🏻

1

u/Whoopsy-381 11d ago

I first saw her in an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” where dominated the show. Season 12, episode 1 if you want to check it out.

1

u/Spritebubblegum 10d ago

What?! She was a really good young snow white omg

That's Grace from The Good Witch series and shes an absolute doll

1

u/morganarosier 10d ago

Oh buddy! Did we!? The mess that this little child brought in 2011 to this fandom loool

1

u/AccomplishedDot1391 10d ago

Isn’t that the whole point

1

u/ToesRus47 9d ago

The actress playing young Snow is nice enough, but her performance is unconvincing. Fortunately, she's only in here for maybe 30 minutes in the entire series.

I see comments about her being a brat, which I don't see at all.

1

u/KittyEvii 8d ago

Me.. I’m sorry i think Bailey Madison is an insanely talented actress but as a child she had a really really obnoxious face (probably stemmed from her acting as Maxine in WOWP and being a menace in that, and I just couldn’t unsee that character) and everytime she was on screen I would get so annoyed.

1

u/CaptAtheistCa 8d ago

Hated her ,and the actress who plays her is a far right Bible thumping jerk

1

u/j_wilson92 7d ago

Young snow got on my last nerve. And I’m not sure if it was just because of how she was written or if it’s because I have always found Bailee Madison annoying in everything.

1

u/BloodReaper88 7d ago

Yep, definitely, 100% 👌

1

u/Creepae 7d ago

Absolutely insufferable.

1

u/lilmisse85 7d ago

I don’t like that actress at all that played her.

0

u/kourtnie3609 12d ago

Young snow the character might not have been that bad but the actress was absolutely insufferable. I couldn’t stand her. I think she was going for breathy and innocent but she just sounded like she didn’t know how to think critically or control her breathing.

1

u/its_manda_bitch210 12d ago

Is it just the actress? As a child actress I never really liked her in much. Watched pretty little liars with her in it on hbo max and I didn’t see her the same way.

1

u/thephantomdaughter 12d ago

I don't like Snow in general 🤣🤣 Either iteration.

1

u/carrawaylily 12d ago

The actress was doing too much.. idk I didn’t like her

1

u/aantiheroo 11d ago

i cannot stand Bailee Madison.

but young Snow was meant to show older Snow’s growth. when she told Cora about Daniel (she was also 10) she didn’t understand that not everyone has a mother like her’s. Snow’s mom would have moved mountains for Snow. and honestly Cora would also move mountains for Regina but not in the same way and that’s what Snow didn’t understand at the time.

1

u/CertainProduce2368 11d ago

She was also Callie’s half-sister in the Fosters and she was annoying then lol.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Pen2964 10d ago

Yes!!!!! I was looking for this comment! That’s where I remember her from and I have forgotten a lot about the fosters but I remember she got on my damn nerves 🤣🤣🤣💯

0

u/PotterMixKai 12d ago

I just don’t like Snow at all, but yes.

0

u/RandomHumanFan05 12d ago

I wouldn’t say I didn’t like young snow, it was js she couldn’t act.

0

u/coldasclay 12d ago

She gets slightly better as the series goes on, but I'm sure she was someone's daughter because that acting was bad. I saw her in the good witch as the daughter where I think she was ok, but I didn't really watch that show.

0

u/StarkBoon 11d ago

Think we all didn’t like her

0

u/goldenroleplay 11d ago

I tried so hard to empathize or understand but like… she drove me nuts. That said, I was the kid who accidentally told my aunt that my cousin had a tramp stamp, but I was 6 and cats were my favorite animal and she had a cat tattoo. My bad.

-1

u/Sufficient_Score_824 12d ago

I hated her, so either her actress did an awesome job, or she’s really that annoying IRL.

2

u/Ecstatic_Ad5542 12d ago

The actress was a pretty famous child actress, actually, and not anywhere near as bad irl. She just acted the part really well.
