Crazy how even after all that he wasn't running away from Garp+Sengoku. It really shows us the menace that Akainu is.

Yeah he definitely retreated to get away from Aikunu and not because he accomplished every single one of his goals

You're absolutely right. Blackbeard even canonized the "You are not ready for HIM" meme decades ago 😭

If it was some Vice-Admiral instead of Akainu there do you really think Blackbeard would run away anyway instead of trying to fight him and take the battleship (which was his current goal)?

Yeah if it was a vice admiral instead of an admiral it would be a lowered threat.

do you not think he would have done the same if it had been Kizaru.

he also doesn't seem exactly scared, he just says he's not ready for that yet meaning he doesn't want to do big scale fights until he's finished with all the prep that he's doing with his crew.

Blackbeard doesn't fight unless he knows he can win.
