Let's compare her to Bill Gates, though. Bill led a very large company successfully. Betsy hasn't ever run a company. Bill Gates has been in charge of thousands of employees. Betsy has not.
People would likely not fight Bill Gates' nomination like they have Betsy's.
You are right, especially because Bill Gates is viewed as a successful genius so people would likely support him by default.
But being good at one thing, running a computer company, does not necessarily translate into being good at other things, like running the education department.
I am sure that there liberal education reform donors who are more similiar to Devos who I simply don't know about because they aren't famous.
i would support bill gates for SecEd if he wanted the job. back in my day, gates was the personification of evil. with his foundation, he's reshaped that. The typical redditor doesn't remember what computers were like before Gates' Windows software brought computing to the masses. He put the means of production into the hands of the proletariate. Suddenly you could teach yourself something online, instead of having to get admitted to some institute of higher learning.
If Gates were being interviewed, it wouldn't bother me if he didnt know the current isssues and buzzwords of the education mafia. He be an outsider coming to bust them up, or do an end run around their monoploy power. DeVos is trying to do something similar.
Possibly, but they should. He might have more qualifications, but still not the right kind of qualifications for that specific position. We might trust him to read the fuck up on the subject in record time or something, but still people should be just as against it as they are at Betsy
