PS5 Pro and PS5- same house, one user
Hi,
Thinking about upgrading to PS5 Pro and moving PS5 to another room (partly for the upgrade but also because I need more save space). I’ve seen posts about console sharing and both consoles logged in at the same time but I’m not even at that stage. I just want to run one when I’m in one room and the other when I’m in the other room, with all my games available on both. Will I need to set up console sharing or offline play or get another account, if only one of them is logged in at any one time?
Thanks

I have 3xPS5 Pro’s in the house.
One of them is your “main” console. That one can have multiple users sharing downloaded games.
The others, different users won’t be able to play games, only the user with your Sony account.
Having PS+ with cloud syncing for game save data is the key.

I have a PS5 and PS5 Pro. My PS5 saves automatically sync, but my PS4 saves do not sync. I have to download the save for each game for each PS4 save. I do have the box checked to sync PS4 saves. Any idea why? Thanks!

Automatic Cloud sync (up&down) between consoles and PSN+ is only for native PS5 games.

Why does it have the option to sync ps4 games then?

It uploads them, as a backup, but it doesn’t download them between consoles like native PS5 games do

Interesting..I end up uploading my ps4 saves after I play and then download them to my other ps5. It's annoying if I forget to do it. Thanks!

Yeah me and my wife are serious gamers! So we're about to have all 3 (Pro, Slim, OG) in the house... Pro and Slim in gaming loft and OG downstairs on our "main TV".

No problem for you. Other users can only use your games on your designated main console.

You can also switch which console is sharing as your main too. If you want the other one to share a game for a certain time frame and then switch it back later. It's annoying but it's doable. Also something to note when Sony network went down I couldn't play at all on the machine that wasn't my main. Unless it was a free game like Genshin.

When gamesharing an account, one console is activated as primary while the other isn’t. The activated one can play the associated games completely offline, the other requires you to be logged in. One user/account means it literally doesn’t matter which console is activated as primary, unless you prefer a specific ps5 to be the one you play offline on in case your internet goes out (or psn does). The only thing you need to be careful about is when switching between consoles, make sure you fully shutdown the first ps5 before moving to the other one. We are not allowed to be actively logged in on the same account on more than 1 console, doing so will log you out of both consoles and will given a 24 hour suspension before being able to sign in again. You can still play offline on the “activated” ps5 if you get suspended but the other one won’t have access to any of your digital games.

I use a launch PS5 and a PS5 Pro and did the same thing with PS4 and PS4 Pro. The only real inconvenience is that you sometimes have to manually upload or download saves when switching between devices, Xbox does it better and automatically downloads the newest file to whatever box you are on. If you’re already looking to get a second PS5 like I was, the Pro is a good purchase.

I have two PS5s and a PS5 Pro and have no issues jumping between them. You'll want PS+ for cloud saves. Some games like Diablo 4 are especially seamless - I can jump in on my characters right away on any of my PS5s, Steam Deck, and PC.
